If Selish magic is location-bound...
Invocation replied to Ripheus23's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
It...kind of is and kind of isn't. There's theories about Sel itself coming to life due to that interaction. -
What would a unmade fabrial do
Invocation replied to twenty second of the sun's topic in Stormlight Archive
I don't think the Thrill makes it a bit worse. For the Thaylens, they weren't able to stop; they didn't want to stop. At least when a nuke goes off, it ends the fighting in that area. Not to mention some of the other Unmade that could also be captured then used to enhance the Thrill and its effects. Capture Moelach and use him to get infinite prophecies/Death Rattles. Whatever Dai-gonarthis does isn't going to help out. Sja-anat could have a ton of spren to corrupt from the effects of the battle. It could very well work out worse than a nuke, especially seeing as Cultivation would probably help with the results of the nuke but likely wouldn't do anything to affect the Unmade out of fear of a strike from Odium. He tells her to study it to try to make more, not to use them in fabrials. Exactly because he doesn't want the Thrill getting back out and using fabrials has a chance to break the gemstone. He makes sure to note not to do anything to damage the gemstone because of that.- 32 replies

That comparison doesn't jive. Nuclear bombs =/= animate Splinters of a being made of Hatred.- 32 replies

Why would anyone want to use the Unmade once you had them captured? You run the risk of the gem breaking and the Unmade getting out.- 32 replies

That is fair, provided they know the connection there. Do they?

Ishar's soul is a curse that exists and seems to be pretty severe, given the less frequent use of that versus some of the others.

It's implied that Windrunners and their Investiture usage is loud, i.e. leaking faster than most Radiants to, and at least from the Kholinar episode, we know Kaladin is very much louder than Shallan when doing things. To me, this correlates to the Stormlight running off faster (which, admittedly, might not be true) than Shallan's. It seems logical to me also that the Order that shares a Surge with Shallan's would be quieter (read: can hold Light longer, possibly also assisted by Jasnah's experience) than Kaladin as well, and Lashing objects would require more than the Soulcasting, especially since Jasnah probably wouldn't Soulcast the obstacles and just dodge with the enhanced mobility of Stormlight. That's fair, but yes, Jasnah would receive the same boost, with it maybe not being standard across all orders, so there's a chance she will be more more than him. She doesn't have to Soulcast everything. She can just move, using no Stormlight other than the little bit for enhanced mobility.

Correct. If it's close to the correct alloy, you get some power, but not much and it's implied to not be good in the long-term. Too far off and you do get sick, if you try to burn a non-allomantic metal, you could die. It's probably a little help from Harmony and/or you-know-who.

Unfortunately, since Earth exists within Skyward's universe, that cannot be true.

Rusts, I forgot about that. I'll take care of it right now!

That actually brings up an interesting question about Renarin's healing. (Stormlight Spoilers)

The process of Oathgate transportation is likely Physical -> Cognitive -> Spiritual -> Cognitive -> Physical in another location, with the Cognitive bit going by too fast to notice. Is this related, perhaps, to the two spren of the Oathgates? One is white, one is dark. The Cognitive is (mostly) an obsidian wasteland and the Spiritual is described as a place of blinding white light. Now, in order to corrupt the destination of an Oathgate, such as the one in Alethkar, would you not have to corrupt the Spiritual one? Then, you cannot be transferred to the Spiritual Realm and come out in a different place, and instead are stuck in Shadesmar, again, as shown in the Alethkar venture in Oathbringer. What happens if Sja-anat were to corrupt the Cognitive Realm spren? Do you just disappear, or go nowhere, or skip directly to the Spiritual (unlikely, because that would be really difficult to do, I believe)?

Even if they did, due to the from-birth training the stewards have relating to their castration, them healing that would not be possible.

That is also correct, as noted by Wayne's continual complaints about regrowing fingers.

The thing is, Sazed accepted that it was the way it was. In Stormlight: Therein lies the difference.
