  1. @Fatikis Why not? I think the idea of Cultivation (and by extension the Nightwatcher) make perfect sense because, over millennium, they gained the reputation as just giving people what they want and what they deserve just because it offers growth, or as some may put it, experience. Furthermore, they are stated to not even be good or bad (I’m struggling to find the exact quote, maybe someone can help me out) and that leads many, probably including the Iriali, to thing they just want change, which as Cultivation’s intent plainly states, they do. I think the things about avatars might have made you think Autonomy but it’s probably just coincidence. There is just much more evidence supporting The One being Cultivation, at least on Roshar.
  2. I find it amusing. It’s like they just skimmed? The coppermind and were like “Y3H COSM3re!!”
  3. Well... maybe but maybe not... OB SPOILER: The nightwatcher already is a spren so. this would have to be the spren representation of a religion itself. This would not include the God worshipped, just the religion itself, which feels like a stretch to me. also you might want to add the [OB] tag because the conversation could shift that way. edit: other stuff to add Cusicech is facing away from Iri.
  4. Umm no sorry. specifically, a shardblade is able to cut the “strings” of a soul web. There have been many forums on this, please look at them a little bit. technically you are severing specific connections between parts of your body. Thats why it is healable in some cases (like compounded gold). compounded gold is able to regenerate the spiritweb with TONS of investiture at once before the shardblade can kill you.
  5. You underestimate the mass added by a few septillion particles. thats the whole debate.
  6. He doesn’t have to be free. He could be using the whole infinite power thing and influencing, subtlety enough so that Harmony didn’t know who it was, Scadrial.
  7. @RShara We still don’t know the ending of that arc. You assume Odium won’t gain anything, and there’s already a thread on which you stated your points, I simply don’t agree. I think Odium has more of a motive than Autonomy, whom we know basically nothing about character wise. quite honestly, we don’t know enough about Odium’s inprisonment to make such judgements, in my opinion.
  8. I think that the red glow might be foreshadowing the end of storm light. It reminds me of Odium a lot and I kinda theorize he will escape. I don’t really have evidence, it’s just a thought.
  9. The shard that would give Odium a run for his money is probably the one that isn’t residing on a particular world.
  10. A woman named Silence Montane, The forests were her domain, For she was not well, as her fortress was Hell, Save a Shade should blacken her vein. Dalinar is such a fright, Oathbringer, he drew his might, In flames did she go, To his utmost woe, The Nightwatcher, his new blight. Hmmm. these are hard!
  11. When he was talking about Kaladin’s aptitude with a spear he was referring to the skill level he had, not the method of his gaining of that ability. he is describing the level of skill the connection grants him.
  12. What confuses me the most is that I want to say the Sibling is of Odium because that’s the pattern the book seems to be setting up, but to me that also seems improbable. A high ranking member of the knights radiant sharing a bond with a spren of Odium? Seems unlikely (as Renarin proves me wrong)
  13. I would still say the Dakhor either way. If they are fighting on presumably familiar terrain, the Dakhor would have superior speed and would slash the Koloss to pieces before it could react. Next up in the ring: teams two more passive Magics. An experienced forger with essence marks and a pouch of soul stone and a current Shallan level lightweaver, versus, A trapper with two Aviar of your choice and a soul caster (as in a human soul caster).
  14. Do you guys want to create an official name for them? I vote: Revived
  15. First off... wow. Take an upvote; this is amazing. The work and theorizing done is evident. however. I do not believe that Fortune is a shard. It is actually a function of a spirit web (which if you look at my spiritweb post) I discussed as part of the way a spiritweb contains information such as when and where you are. the rest is awesome.
  16. This kind of thing has been going around.. and I am just curious about what the status is in the community. Also, any relationship is allowed. (Romantic, friendly, familial, etc.) Mine is personally Sarene and Raoden.
  17. Also, however, even if there was only one star, there could be atmospheric possibilities of scattering the heat, but the large ocean on Taldain distributes heat across the planet through ocean current.
  18. The spirit web. Most of us know what it is and mostly what it pertains, but a lot of us know bits and pieces of what it contains. Here we are going to create a structure for the spirit web, so that everyone can have a good framework for theories they want to involve it in. With that out of the way, I always imagine the spirit web as a (modified) spider web. With thick, cordial strings coming outward from the center, and thinner, more fibrous strings connecting them. The challenge here is to establish what the thicker tendrils are to a being and how this stays constant within the Cosmere. Of course, imagining it that way makes it easier but is not entirely correct. To put it more masterfully, the focal points of a spirit web are divided into three major portions but on their own represent sub-dominant qualities. The definite things we know are part of a spirit web are as follows: (Feel free to correct me here) Fortune: The interactive capabilities of spiritwebs which is greatly expanded upon when attaining greater amounts of investiture. Most notably allows for future sight in humans, shards, cognitive impact in a few tseWshadows, splinters, etc. primarily shown in shards (ex. Odium, Preservation, probably Cultivation) Connection: Displays what form of investiture any being is connected to and is heavily related to the planet that being inhabits naturally (with some exceptions). Shards are connected to their own investiture, splinters are connected to whatever shard they originate from, cognitive shadows are connected to whatever investiture sustained them (threnrodite shades) and people inherit connection through s DNA. Identity: The most normal of the three, identity is responsible for, basically, who you are: what do you love, what do you hate, physical appearance, etc. is all contained in the identity portion. Most heavily influenced by s DNA of course. Sub-Dominant qualities: (again, looking for corrections\feedback) Fortune-Identity: Location— where and when you are. Fortune-Connection: Future sight— allows varying degrees of insight into the future. (Seers vs Shards) Connection-Identity: Magic— the fins of investiture you can access or manifest. Manipulation of the Spiritweb: I have decided to separate the classes of manipulation into the capabilities each form of change has on the being. Names are subject to change Charging: modifying the spiritweb by boosting it with investiture. Can be thought of as coating or lacing it. (Ex. Breath) Splicing: Using an already torn piece of a spirit web to insert investiture, usually a splinter. None of the original web is lost during this exchange (Ex. Spren or Divine Breath) Stealing: Intentionally tearing the spirit web to take a piece of it away. Usually destroys the being stolen from. (Ex. Hemalurgy or [possibly] Dark One Magic) Destruction of the Spiritweb: can be caused by “life changing” traumatic experiences. Has been caused regularly on several shardworlds to use magic. Includes: Scadrial, Roshar, and Nalthis.
  19. I’m not so sure about that.. Hoid had a grudge with Bavadin and Rayse before the shattering and still doesn’t like them now. Just because Hoid dislikes someone doesn’t mean they are working together. And also, Odium wants to destroy all shards; he probably wouldn’t work with another one.
  20. Honestly this reminds me of the Diagram. Love it and the thought and effort put forth. My only counterpoint is that this method of figuring out intent would put tremendous strain on Brandon. Think about it this way if Brandon had to work backwards from eighty combinations of very specific surges just to make them match intents he hasn’t even canonized because he does not know the details yet seems.. difficult to say the least. I think a broad overview and comparison of Surgebinding and the Metallic Arts would be better.
  21. I could see Bavadin being a better candidate for this.
  22. Oh snap. Could a dawnshard be in Urithiru?
  23. Wait to heating Fabrials harness the surge of illumination by creating thermal radiation..? if so does that mean Shallan could potentially use a heat grenade? It would probably be small with a gemstone, but if she hooked it to pattern, then she might have a chance.
  24. I actually had my own theory on why her illusions had a little bit more weight, that was insinuated not to be soul casting. I think Shallan was using her lightweaving to splinter the identity portion of her spirit web, and it was giving the illusions a bit more heft. As stated already, investiture has a bit of weight; a spirit web is made of investiture, mostly. I think since the investiture, splintered from her already torn identity branch of her spirit web, is of Shallan, it would return to her after the illusions dissipate like a shard’s magic returns to it.
  25. Well Braize could potentially be very frozen with some sort of reflective solid (such as ice), and could be more reflective than the barren, blackened husk that is Ashyn.
