Working part time for Harmony's Bands carried with it a number of advantages, especially when one was allowed to work the night shift without supervision. There were a couple of bronze ferrings in the back room, young Terris attracted by the prospect of free sleeping quarters and a reasonable wage, but nobody alert enough to notice as Makido slipped into the storeroom in search of one very specific metalmind. He'd hoped this day wouldn't come, but now it seemed inevitable that another Shard War would erupt. Directly associating with Shardic power was distasteful for him, but he couldn't trust anyone else to do this job for him. Sifting through the section set aside for copper metalminds, many of which were not to leave the premises, Makido withdrew a thin disk of copper, hidden between two larger metalminds holding the financial data from three years past. The metalmind had been safer here than in his possession, or perhaps that was just an excuse Makido had made to get rid of the thing. He walked back to his desk, tracing the symbol for atium engraved in the middle of the inner ring of copper. Sitting down, he took out a roll of aluminum foil and a pen. Supposedly, the ancients had gone so far as engraving words in steel, but this way was so much more convenient. He unrolled the aluminum and held the metalmind in his right hand, pen in his left. Taking a deep breath, he tapped the memories in the metalmind, and immediately found himself standing in the SilverPoly labs, back when the Shards had been safely contained. @Indigo Weasel, does the win condition that your faction chose(not the win conditions standard to all factions) immediately end the game upon completion?

Axolotl is claiming that the Shards(again, Ambition, Ruin, Autonomy) without anything better to do with their actions this cycle did not in fact Invest in Yolen. Instead, one of two Shards who absolutely could have given away useful Investment roles(Forger and Unmade) decided to Invest in Yolen. Axolotl also claims to know that Ruin worldhopped, which, while a useful thing for Ruin to do with a day action, is not information that is publicly known. Since there isn't anything in the rules suggesting that anyone could start with roles that would make it useful to take two actions tonight, it can be assumed that any Shards using a bonus action would do so during the day.

Before the tension on Silverlight reached a boil, the groups of worldhoppers unanimously decided to split apart once more, seeking power among the far reaches of the Cosmere. Off they went to squabble over the scraps of power the Shards had left behind so many years ago, seeking to take advantage of Autonomy's disappearance in the short term rather than working to working to fill the void her absence left. Makido followed one such group of departers. The Era was young yet, and there was still time for a cooperative resolution to be reached. It would seem that the most likely Shards to Invest in Yolen would be Ambition or Ruin, (and possibly Autonomy if Investing goes before worldhopping and Aspects can't be created on Silverlight), as those Shards didn't have another Investment option they could take. Both Devotion and Odium have useful Investment roles they could give any faction members they may have, so it would seem Axolotl knows something specific about those two Shards,(e.g., Axolotl's faction possesses those Shards).

And lo, comes a voice on high, one that calls for tolerance and drives out ignorance. A pity we didn't have a Shard like that roaming the Cosmere. Yet more factions. Makido sighed inwardly. Five competing interests hadn't been enough, oh no, there had to be yet more groups who declared their way to be Just and Righteous. Such were the costs of free will he supposed, though a cost well worth paying. Little good had ever come of Shards directly controlling the affairs of mortals. Perhaps that was what Autonomy's Vessel had once held dear, before their mind was consumed by the Shard's Intent. But no, he didn't have the time to speculate on who the Vessels had been. The Shards were in control now, and they could not be allowed to once again tear apart the Cosmere in their quest for power and influence. Some of them would fan the flames of hatred between the various factions, the spiritual descendants of the Worldhoppers who had first managed to contain the Shards. Makido could not let them succeed. The Shards would be purged from their Vessels, and locked away where they could cause no more harm. I will accept that bet, and put up two of my own Shards. Somebody neutral, who wins if there are an odd number of factions and half rounded down are completely eliminated by the beginning of phase 3? Also, there is not a lynch today.

Already, Discord had arisen in Silverlight. An individual was claiming to serve no master, nor work with any allies. A remnant of Autonomy's influence, no doubt. The sapient beings of the Cosmere were meant to work together in Harmony, not isolate themselves from each other in the name of freedom. But then, Autonomy had never been about freedom, had she? Her and the Shard known only for its desire to Survive had complemented each other nicely; withdraw from others, keep to one's self, avoid trust, maintain existence at any cost. A bleak way to live, but an acceptable one for those who chose that path. As always though, the Shards warped their Vessel's personality to extremes. Autonomy could never recognise that civilisations could only advance and grow cooperatively, while Survival forgot that a life merely spent prolonging one's existence was hardly a life at all. As for the solitary claimant, well they were probably lying. There could be no neutrals, not anymore. The time for solitude was over. In this new era of the Cosmere, working together was the only way forward.

Never again. That was Makido's consuming thought as he stood before the rebuilt campus of SilverPoly. The institute was a pale shadow of its former grandeur, a consequence of Ruin's rampage and Autonomy's subsequent crackdown on interplanetary cooperation. Makido would see SilverPoly rise once more to its status as a beacon of enlightenment. Makido did not know how or why Autonomy's influence had lessened, but he was determined that this time Autonomy would not be victorious. He had read the accounts of the Silverlight War, and they all agreed that complacency and focusing on Ruin as a threat had allowed Autonomy to triumph and bring about the Dark Ages of scientific regression. In the coming days, Makido could help reverse all that. Trade routes would be opened between worlds. Immigration would be freely permitted. And SilverPoly would spread knowledge throughout the Cosmere. Standing between the Cosmere and this bright future were the other Shards, some of which could cause even worse devastation than Autonomy. They would have to be trapped away, hidden, or at least controlled by the conflict of opposing Intents. The desire for power had sparked the Silverlight War, and such a calamity must be prevented. Never again.

Long Game 49/Anonymous Game 3: Window to the Past
Ivory Dragonfly replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Okay... I'll hazard a guess that darkness died because of Venli. Two other people have died since the spren was captured. Amaram and Eshonai. They were guilty in canon, so I'm hoping that they were killed by a vigilante. Optimistically, that means that if Venli dies, we could win. I kinda hoped the ostracization vote would do that anyways, but here we are. Adolin, how did your kill action work out?- 1062 replies

Long Game 49/Anonymous Game 3: Window to the Past
Ivory Dragonfly replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The battle was over. And Elhokar hadn't done anything but get in the way. He wasn't a fighter. And now people were dead. The kingdom was broken, like a shattered pot. The treaty was ruined, due to his negligence. Or...maybe he could do something, after all. His father had begun to say that the king need not lead the charge. The king's responsibility was to hold the kingdom together. Elhokar had never really understood what that meant. But now... Pulling himself off his knees, Elhokar picked his way through the rubble, moving towards the parshendi delegation. "@SE_Eshonai, @SE_Venli, @SE_Klade, I know this night didn't go as planned. But if we want to survive this, we need to stand together. I'd like to re-extend the hand of friendship."- 1062 replies

Long Game 49/Anonymous Game 3: Window to the Past
Ivory Dragonfly replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Let me get this straight. My wife killed my father, and was in turn killed by my cousin who was enraged due to his brother's death. All in less than 8 hours. I'm starting to see why other cultures think we're "too warlike". In unrelated news, my wife turned into a raving Eldritch monstrosity, so I'm hosting a duel for the opportunity to become my new wife. Bring your own blades.- 1062 replies

Eshonai, Thanks! I feel like this is a leap forward in our investigations. @SE_Liss, I know you were out of the palace, but did you get any new goals once Gavilar died? @SE_Adolin_Kholin, can you expound on the actions available while ostracized?- 1062 replies

Long Game 49/Anonymous Game 3: Window to the Past
Ivory Dragonfly replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The celebration should have been cancelled hours ago, when the first murder was reported. But the people had ignored it, written it off as a coincidence. Their hubris may have just doomed Alethkar. Many of the slain guests had been relative unknowns. Concerning, to be sure, but nothing to get worked up about. Overintoxication happened all the time. But this... No. no... He needed to deal with this. Dalinar would know what to do. He always... always.... He would know what to do. He was strong. Stronger than Elhokar. He could fix this. "@SE_Dalinar_Kholin. Tch. My win con was to lead an ostracization. So I would lose out here. But I guess I'll have other chances to do that. Amaram, you've had a spotless history up until now. I sincerely hope gambling works out for you.- 1062 replies

Elhokar Kholin was angry. Very angry. After starting up the business, he had a few people approach him, but nobody really took advantage of the service. That wasn't the problem. In fact, it was perfectly fine by him. It meant he had time do do other things. Like investigate murders. "Amaram! I saw you last cycle trying to kill Ivory. I know you are a member of the Son of honor, with the goal to cause a crisis. You have no place at this feast! Get out before I have to put my shardbow to use." Edit:- 1062 replies

Also I'm offering everyone free money. Just shoot me a message if you're interested. Shardbow: 14 spheres Infused spheres: 3 spheres each I spied on Gavilar last night, and can confirm that he attacked beggar. So 2 other murds are running around. If I had to guess, after finishing their other win conditions, the game might turn into a standard village/elim battle, with people getting killed every turn. If that's so, the elims would probably be the people who finished their win cons first. Or maybe not. I'm just throwing ideas out there.- 1062 replies

We do have a few witnesses that say it wasn't her trying to kill the other two. I don't plan to vote on Ialai because she can help us catch whoever else is trying to murder people. Speaking of which, I'm intrigued by your willingness to throw shade. Tell us more about the murders, Venli.- 1062 replies

Ivory Dragonfly replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Still available: shardbow: 14 spheres infused spheres: 2 spheres each So I tried to action spy and I succeeded, but was roleblocked. I'm guessing someone just thought I was suspicious enough to block. I would also like to point out that Ialai admitted to the murder, but murders aren't very likely to succeed. Ialai, did you try to kill Jasnah last cycle? If not, there may be another murderer running around who just didn't succeed in their action this cycle. Edit: Yeah. So look out for that.- 1062 replies

Ivory Dragonfly replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
New round, new items: shardbow: 14 spheres infused spheres: 3 spheres each To be honest, I'm surprised someone was attacked again. I kinda thought the killer would finish their win condition and stop. So either they have to kill 2 people or it's a different person this time around. My money's on it being the same killer, because my win conditions have asked me to do 2 similar things so far. Probably gonna action spy on someone tonight to try and catch them. @SE_Adolin_Kholin, you voted on Jasnah last cycle, then retracted your vote because she didn't have a shardblade. Can you explain more fully your reasons for doing so?- 1062 replies

They just facilitate trading. They are not an actual item. Think of it as a credit system Why not? You're still free to trade without this system. (In fact, I'd prefer it. Less work for me ) But this system gives you more ways to trade favors. You're still reaching out to them, but instead of asking the to cooperate (for example) in exchange for a future favor, you're asking them to cooperate for 3 spheres, or 1 sphere and a favor, or whatever works for you. Maybe. Still working out the details. Beats me. @Orlok Tsubodai, @little wilson, What do you think of this?- 1062 replies

Long Game 49/Anonymous Game 3: Window to the Past
Ivory Dragonfly replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Truth be told, I don't expect to do much buying or selling. This is mostly just a way to give people more ways to trade with each other, as well as to make key win items more available. That being said, I do need to sell items or the currency would be useless. The shardbow is dangerous, true, but an assassin would probably find it easier to make several attempts to kill someone on their own than to convince people to hand over their spheres.- 1062 replies

Long Game 49/Anonymous Game 3: Window to the Past
Ivory Dragonfly replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Drumroll, please. And now, what you've all been waiting for: the dawn of a new era, a total game-changer! Without further ado, I would like to announce the opening of KING trading! I’m sure you all have questions, so I'll try to answer them preemptively. What is KING trading? A few of you might have already seen a preview. Put simply, you will be able to sell useless items for spheres, which you can use to buy items or favors. Sounds great, how do I start? Good question! Everyone can receive 2 spheres for FREE just by messaging me. Wait, what can I do with spheres? You can give me a sphere to learn my secrets, or a few more to win my vote. Additionally, we will be putting out a catalogue at the beginning of each cycle with available items and their prices. I don't trust you, and I won't buy from you: No problem! Just send me a message that you want to transfer your spheres to another person. They get the spheres, you get a favor from them, and you don't have to give me anything Okay, what’s the catch? All cards on the table here: we can only transfer 1 or 2 items every half hour. You can always sell to us, but buying may take a little longer. If we do get swamped, we’ll let people know when they try to buy something. Give me some prices: In general, single-use items sell for 5 spheres, multi-use for 3 spheres per use, and permanent items for 8 spheres. If you want to buy an item, the price will be roughly double what you can sell it for. Is this for real? Totally, dude. No really, is this a joke? I assure you, this is a real thing that will be happening. If I try to cheat you, you can always throw me out of the feast. Well, I'm sold! Glad to hear it, hypothetical customer. Enjoy your trading! Current items: Shardbow, 14 spheres.- 1062 replies
