Tnaidar had just disappeared and that annoyed Merinira no end. It wasn't the there weren't a whole host of hidden doors, camouflaged nooks and permanent illusions in Urithiru that he could have hidden behind, it was just that she was certain there where no such places in the hall where he'd made his escape. *** That would have been nice to have known in advance, as I think I'd have supported the Rhino lynch if I'd known Lion would have survived this cycle (and yes, that was me willshaping another vote on Lion). I hadn't had quite enough time to do more than post an action this morning, but the reason I decided to vote manip here was because at this point I'm not really suspicious of Albatross, but I could definitely see the case for Lion, so I wanted to consolidate that vote in the face of any vote manipulation that could have still swung things another way. Based on the tally, there was also a Bondsmith active, but no other vote manipulation.

I agree, mostly. However, most actives seem to focus on solving the game, and players like that will eventually provide enough clues to their alignment, and often also enough clues to can an entire elim team if they're evil and allowed to dig themselves deep enough, so I'm disinclined to push a suspicion on the few actively taking part right now when I could observe for a bit longer to form a solid read. And those that are less active just haven't posted enough to allow people to get a good read as far as I can tell. So if anyone that hasn't shared their thoughts yet could start weighing in so there's more than 2-3 players to discuss, that'd be nice

Could you provide some examples of the information you'd get from lynching me? I get what you meant by the statistics, but can you provide some concrete examples of what you'd learn if you lynched me and if flipped village? And what would you learn if I flipped elim? I'm doing damage now, am I ? In all seriousness though, what makes you say that? If anything, I'd argue that someone barely taking part is doing more damage than someone actively around, because they're making it impossible to form reads on them. Anyway, lets finish that list of player-reads I'd started on. Pearl chameleon Pearl, like many others, has only two posts, and both of them where RP. One of them contained the RP motivated vote on Zebra, which could have been distancing, but I doubt it. There weren't any solid lynches yet at that time, so a vote like that would have been very risky, especially given anonymous games' tendency to lynch inactives early. I'm elaning village on Chameleon, and hope that they'll drop by to contribute more sooner rather than later. Plum Rhinoceros Four posts, one of which actually contained a decent amount of content. Someone providing their thoughts on the game is pretty nice and indicates that they're trying to solve the game, but I really didn't like the amount of hedging going on regarding his reads one me and Toucan. It could have been genuine uncertainty (Rhino definitely wasn't alone in that), but that kind of hedging, like with weasel, can also be a smokescreen for an elim trying to get the best of both world, being either in a position to move and vote against these people, or claim that they always knew they where village if they either died or the thread generally considers them to be cleared. read: neutral-ish, leaning somewhat elim. has shown some interest in game-solving, but their hedging on village reads looks off to me. Amethyst scorpion Somehow I missed them yesterday, so lets rectify that. They seem to be actively involved in solving the game, which is good. I don't necessarily agree with everything they're saying (guess which bits), but the fact that they're willing to take risks and go for harder lynches because they think there might be some merit to it read more village to me. Elim!scorpion would know which way I'd flip and the kind of attention that'd bring down on them, and would likely reserve a kill for me instead. I would like to see how more of their reads pan out before solidifying my read, but it looks villagery so far.Sage kangaroo Two posts, no alignment indicative or even vaguely game-solving related content of any sort. Salmon Meerkat there's some game-thoughts here, but a lot of it is related to role-distribution, which can be a smoke-screen for an elim to hide behind for a bit. I don't have a read on them yet. Scarlet octopus Three posts. D1 they posted a bunch of RP, and then called me out for not being too open with my suspicions. I already noted it then but I'll note it again, calling someone out for that without reciprocating looks really off to me. It creates the appearance of activity and taking part in solving the game, without actually doing so. That having been said, their post D2 is an improvement. Though I'm not convinced about their statistical method (and hope they'll elaborate a bit more once they're awake again), that post does speak off a decent amount off effort put into hunting elims, which I consider a village trait. If this trend continues over the coasting they where doing D1, then I'll probably start leaning village, but as yet I'm undecided. Sunburst toucan Two posts, no real content. NULL read. Actually, given that sunburst has had some discussion happen about them, I'll add a bit more. I don't think their lack of content, including their lack of response to Tuatara's question, was in any way alignment indicative, simply because there's a lot more 'playing' like that this game and they can't all be elims. Magenta Albatross And with Toucan done, that brings me back to albatross. Their most recent explanation for the vote I found odd actually makes sense to me: It doesn't necessarily clear them, but if they where an elim, then there where better ways they could have used their vote manip to try and keep Zebra alive, unless Toucan is an elim, then it would make some sense. I'm reading them Neutral right now, but if Toucan ends up flipping elim, I suggest taking a look at Albatross once everyone is done lynching me. Taupe Gecko Two posts, but one of them actually contains content! It's not much and pretty NAI, but at least they seem to be trying to take part in discussion. Turquoise gorilla Four posts, but they're once again mostly RP. They tag some inactives, and explicitly state that they're okay with the toucan/zebra lynch which I find really odd, given that neither lynch had much in the way of reasoning behind them, making them not all that useful from an info perspective (or rather, that's what they would have been if it had been v/v). @Turquoise Gorilla, why did you think the Zebra/toucan lynch was a good thing? There isn't really enough for me to get a read on them, but I'm leaning ever so slightly elimmy. Violet axolotl Not much from them either, but their summary at least shows that they were following along closely. I'd have loved it if they actually included some conclusions on the various players, rather than just stating what they did. Neutral read. @Pearl Chameleon, @Sage Kangaroo, @Salmon Meerkat, @Sunburst Toucan, @Taupe Gecko, @Violet Axolotl: All of you haven't been all that active, so I'll ask you the same question I did the other people that fell into that category: right now, who do you trust most and least? I'd also like to just make a general note on activity. there's 6 players that have contributed extremely little so far, and several more that have said just a bit more, but also haven't been exactly active. We're halfway through D2 and quite a few players have yet to comment at all. This is not good. A game that is only being pulled forward by a couple of players is at a serious risk of dying, as these players are likely to get either night-killed or lynched, because they're the only ones people can form reads on. Because of this, I'm going to push the lynch of one of the lesser actives this cycle I'm doing this in the hope that it dispels the notion that low activity equals safety to any low activity elims, that it gets the low activity villagers to post more and to avoid this game dying from a lack of active players before it even gets properly started. My vote is going to be on Toucan, to be precise. Several people seem to consider my alignment to be tied with his, and I think there's a tie with albatross as well (if they're village, then albatross is more likely to be village as well, and vice-versa).
-
I'd love to say something in my defense (once I've had some sleep at any rate), but I've yet to hear an actual accusation rather than a summary of my actions and speculation based on Toucan's alignment. Both you and scorpion apparently consider my behavior last cycle something that needs explaining, but you've yet to state what I did exactly that needs explaining? Edit: apologies, my reading comprehension goes down as I get tired. @Opal Lion, I did state a reason for my vote, several posts before I made it: Those aren't particularly good reasons, but both lynches where pretty bad (consisting of RP votes and poke votes) and despite the thread getting a reasonable amount of traffic, no one seemed interested in a lynch based on reasoning (or even in suggesting another alternative), rather than a random tie between two people that might as well have been picked randomly given the nature of the votes on them.
-
Can you explain why you think I'm an elim, because I'm not making it out from your post. I think I could understand it if you where assuming that Toucan was an elim (in which case I'd like to know why you're so certain about that assumption), but that doesn't seem to be an assumption you consider necessary to consider me to be an elim. So can you explain why I'd have done what I did if I was an elim, assuming Toucan wasn't?

In between trying to figure out the puzzle-lock sealing off most of the 17th floor and looking over the 32nd floors crystal garden, I have managed to find some time for analysis. Amber Vulture Vulture has made only two posts so far. One was pure RP, the other one contained a comment on the vote manipulation. Their soft defense of Albatross was noteworthy, but it also did contain some solid reasoning. Overall they haven't spoken nearly enough for any sort of solid read. Coral swan Like amber vulture they only have two posts, and only one of some substance. In that one they exhort everyone to vote, stating that voting is important. I don't disagree, but showing your reasoning is probably just as important as placing the vote, and I hope to see some sensible comments from them this cycle. No read yet. Cream Tuatara Three posts, and all of them have game related content! That having been said, most of it was pretty much just discussing roles and role distribution, all of which is fairly NAI. The poke on Toucan would have been somewhat interesting if the D1 lynch had been more involved than it was, but as it is I don't think its that odd that they kept it in place as there weren't that many other lynch candidates. No read. Emerald falcon ...I'd only lightly skimmed their RP before, which is a shame, as the Destiny crossover is hilarious. Anyway, apart from the nice RP, they've been speaking sense and are actively involved in solving the game. I'd need to see how a couple of their reads pan out to be certain, but I'm leaning village on them right now. Indigo weasel Three posts, only contains some directly game-related content, though that one was very vague as well: @Indigo Weasel, what exactly is the conclusion you're drawing here? It seems like on teh one hand you're clear ing people, adn then immediately retracting that statement again because you think the lynch was suspicious. No read, but the post I linked kinda gives me a bad gut feeling is it seems like ti could have been designed to give weasel flexibility to jump either way with his read, without outright stating uncertainty. Mauve crocodile Two posts, one with some nice RP and a poke-vote for inactivity, the other one pointing out that I missed their vote in my tally. No read on them as of yet. Mint Heron One post, only RP. No read. Onyx flamingo One post, only RP. No read. Opal Lion Some RP, one posts comparing roles to the standard roles used here often, one post acknowledging that maybe that comparison was a bit obvious. No read. Anyway, that's the first half (skipping albatross as I've spoken about them quite a bit already, and I want to do a reevaluation after looking at toucan). I should get to the rest before the end of the cycle, but these things take time, even when most of the reads end up being NULL because of a lack of activity. Speaking of which: @Amber Vulture, @Coral Swan, @Mauve Crocodile, @Mint Heron, @Opal Lion, @Onyx Flamingo, all of you have contributed very little so far. Could you share some more thoughts with the thread? If you can't think of anything, you could always share your current greatest suspicion and greatest trust. edit: I've also taken a quick look at dragonfly to see if there where any clues in their posts. However, their posts where very low content and they didn't commit to anything, which was probably why they got targeted in the first place by the dustbringer.

Just some RP, feel free to ignore it. I'm certain it doesn't contain any important insights on role distribution *** The person playing Merinira was taking a short break. These LARP events where very fun, of course, and the GM's had designed a very interesting scenario around the fight against Odium on Roshar several centuries ago, but these events where also mentally taxing. The past day had definitely been fun though. Sometimes such events had a lot of historical purists demanding that everyone play their role exactly like things where at the time, but this even was more relaxed. She knew for certain about a couple of players having chosen a worldhopper background for more versatility, and the amount of knowing smirks she'd seen and comments hinting at advanced knowledge she'd heard suggested that there might not be any Roshar natives among the PC's at all. She stretched, quickly looked over her costume, and then prepared to leave the room. She was thinking about finding some others to do another discovery run through 'Urithiru'. The GM's had come up with some really nice off-the-wall stuff last time she went, and she was curious to find out what they'd do this time around.
-
Your vote on Toucan looked really off to me because you cited them not answering a fairly inconsequential question as a main reason, as we discussed previous cycle (yes, that was me ). In the light of how Zebra flipped it looks even worse to me, but I'm going to have to do a comprehensive reread before I'll next submit a vote because you're pretty much my only real suspicion right now and I need to be careful not to blindly tunnel on you. (@GM's, I'll try to get back in my cosmetic role next cycle, but I'm mentally pretty much done right now.)
-
I learned recently that assuming people's alignments based on a vote like this is dangerous when you don't know the role of the other party, so I'd confirm Toucan in some way before making any assumptions there. Regarding, Albatross, I'm still suspicious of them. They contacted me in a PM which was pretty much fishing for information about whether I knew any windrunners, and whether I'd be protected, which, given my stated suspicion of them from last cycle looks off to me. Then again, it'd also be a pretty ballsy move for an elim to do so. I'm mostly just leaving this here because I don't disagree with their assessment that I, or any of the other 2 on Zebra, are likely targets for the elims tonight, so I might not be around to share my opinions tomorrow. I wish I was awake enough to do some in-depth analysis right now, but I had a pretty tiring activity today, so any deep insight will have to wait till later.
-
Anyway, I'd just like to note that I have made notes of everyone that checked the thread without actually responding in these last minutes, just in case Albatross flips elim later. "Wait, Purl, you don't think she's some kind of voidbringer that bewitched Adolin, right? I think I read about something like that in one of the Archives. Auranna/Zebra, just how did you meet Adolin in the first place?" (albatros, for now)
-
Yeah, but that's my point. Question-avoiding can be considered an elim-trait if it's about an important question. This wasn't. And the fact that you voted based on 'avoidance' without looking up what they where avoiding looks pretty bad to me, like you where just looking for an excuse without digging too deeply to check whether it was valid.
-
They didn't. But the question was a general question about roles aimed at everyone. If you where so concerned about people not answering it, you'd have answered it yourself at some point.
-
"I might, though I'd note that you've yet to do so yourself. Which incidentally does make you stand out. Are you merely someone that prefer to exort others to action without putting in the work themselves, or are you trying to hide behind this veneer of research?" Apart from octopus, the one that immediately stands out for a vote is magenta albatros. They vote on Toucan for not answering Tuatara's question. This show that they haven't actually bothered looking up what Tuatara's question was, and are just looking for a likely candidate with a minimum of effort (the answer to Tuatara's question which was asked generally, something albatross would have seen and answered if they'd looked up the question, is the worldhopper, btw, because of its wild-card nature making it hard to predict and allowing for some interesting swings). Other people that have stood out to me are penguin, but their campaign of votes, though somewhat odd in my eyes does seem to eb primarily designed to get people talking, unlike a similarly motivated vote I've seen a while back. Apart from these two, no one has yet stood out to me, but I haven't gone over all the new posts yet. edit: Okay, I'm catching up and editing as I go. @Emerald Falcon you mention axolotl's list in a question, but don't answer your own question. When you have the time, could you do so? Anyway, making such lists is very useful for the writer in getting a read on the game, but I don't think they're that useful to read through as they don't contain the fine-grain info you generally need to catch an elim. That having been said, it does suggest Axolotl being willing to put in work to solve the game, so that makes me elan slightly village. Anyway, if the magenta train doesn't take off, I might just tie-break against Zebra. Between toucan and Zebra, toucan is at least active, and I think Zebras death write-up might be funnier because of the whole 'adolin's ex' thing. These are pretty bad reasons for a pretty bad lynch though, so I hope there si some interest for the magenta lynch.

Well, I do hope everyone that isn't an Elsecaller shows some bravery in their discussion as well. I found some records on similar situations arising over the ages in other sections of Roshar, and the odium sympathizers almost always won when everyone else was too afraid to speak out. Or to put it in a slightly less semi-RP way: The job of villagers is to discuss and find the elims. The job of the elims is to stay alive. If you're playing with the primary goal of staying alive and unsuspected, then you're not playing like a villager. Regarding votes, could people include both the animal in addition to the RP name? It makes it easier for me to keep track of, at any rate. Vote tally: Gorilla/Bomer(1): Penguin/Taldir Penguin/Taldir(1): Gorilla/Bomer Toucan/Tafud(1): Tuatara/Dyfan Penguin's and Tuatara's votes seem to have been aimed at poking inactives, while gorilla's seemed to have been meant to counter Penguin's vote/be part of some RP between them. Nothing too interesting in the votes as of yet, and I haven't really seen anything yet to prompt a vote from me. Speaking of inactives, @Onyx Flamingo, @Pearl Chameleon, @Quartz Zebra and @Sunburst Toucan haven't checked in yet. @Fifth Scholar/ @Elbereth, are there pinch-hitters this game? I don't think they're needed yet, but how we need to look at inactives changes depending on whether there's a pinch-hitter waiting to take over.

I'm not surprised things are quiet. A lot of people will be doing stuff with family on the 2nd day of Christmas, so I suspect most people to check in in the second half of the cycle. Anyway, I dug up some ancient literature on the Radiants from... I think it was someone's personal library? One shelf of books and a comfortable seat in an out-of-the-way cubicle can't have been much else anyway...sorry, getting back on track. n, based on what the book describes they can do, there's a lot of useful things, but nothing ground-shaking. The roles are fairly standard, which is pretty much as usual for the AG. Windrunners are lurchers, dustbringers are coinshots, elsecallers are thugs, etc. With a game this size, there are a lot of possible role distributions, so I don't think it'll be too useful to speculate on the exact division. Magenta's suggestions sound reasonable, but there could probably also be no village dustbringers but several village worldhoppers, or multiple village windrunners balanced by an elim dustbringer or a large number of elim worldhoppers, to name just a couple of things.
-
Heya people, and merry Christmas! I won't be posting much, if at all, for the next 24 hours or so, as I've still got a christmas dinner with family to go explore, but after that I'll try to get into the swing of things!

Quick Fix Game 36/Anonymous Game 5: Dream Thieves
Saffron Iguana replied to Steeldancer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
There aren't villagers; only 4 teams of 4 attempting to accumulate items between all members. The 2+ weapons are evidently the reason why Steel believed this game would only take 7 days, as they'll speed up the death toll considerably and condense the available items into fewer bodies. Since codes are made in docs with the key shared with the other faction members, it will be quite difficult to decrypt any encoded messages in this game. For instance, only my faction members know what this 7 means. -

Penguin hasn't been online since last cycle, so I'm thinking that body is no longer inhabited. I would not be surprised if whatever item(probably) was used to kill Kangaroo is now in the possession of Penguin's former player's teammates. There wasn't enough time for Penguin's player to pass off all their items, there's still a phone at least, so it's probably still worthwhile to lynch the body for any items left behind. -

I can confirm that Penguin now has Kangaroo's phone. I said that I had not received items from Mouse or Dragonfly, which was apparently interpreted as meaning I might be in their faction. What I meant was that I hadn't received any items despite voting to lynch both bodies. -

If, as Swan claims, Octopus is currently inhabited by a spirit, they haven't signed into their account yet. That seems like a good opportunity to take their stuff. I would support a tied lynch between Octopus and Elephant, but Hyena's vote manipulation abilities makes that less palatable. -

Meerkat(8)- Kangaroo, Axolotl, Swan, Penguin, Dingo, Beagle, Falcon, Gorilla Gecko(5)- Weasel, Hyena, Crocodile, Ostrich, Iguana I wonder why Dragonfly's teammates didn't try to do this. A successful double-lynch does indeed increase the odds of receiving an item, so long as both bodies are actually lynched. As we saw from D1, a seemingly tied lynch can be made decisive very quickly. With ~thirty minutes until rollover, I suppose it won't hurt to temporarily support the second bandwagon. Meerkat, Gecko.
