  1. read emperors soul if you haven't. and give the other books a go. i haven't gotten very far into any of his non Cosmere works because they just don't interest me as much but you might like them and none of them are terribly long either really. edit: from what i have read go for the rithmatist, alcatraz might be a bit crazy and steelheart the less i say about that the better, it has a really poor start in my opinion, it may get better but i am still tossing up whether or not i will keep going. the others i definitely do plan on finishing.
  2. i would just like to say that you're super talented and should keep up the amazing artwork. your shallan has been my phones background for some time now. so thank you for awesome artwork and a rather late welcome to you too
  3. Yes. This i want so much. She has to get off that planet and becoming a super cool worldhopper would be awesome .
  4. He may have made it bleak because it was in a GRRM anthology but I doubt this, the Cosmere probably has many planets where the people on it are doomed to a dark fate, and this is just one of them. I think it gives more depth to the Cosmere to have planets out there that can't and won't be saved. Of course I'm the biggest fan of bleak atmospheres and depressing stories so maybe that is just me. Oh and Sebruki is the best name ever and if I ever have a daughter and wife willing to accommodate my eccentricities I would name her Sebruki. Maybe not William though, I did like that in the story, having a girl named William, makes us question certain unneeded traditions like gender specific naming. Edit: upvote to you Confuzified for making me chuckle.
  5. I would very much have to disagree with your perception of the story but i can definitely see where you're coming from as it was at least predictable. But i think emperors soul was predictable and i loved that. I absolutely loved Silence as a character and the sense of doom that lay heavy on the story was something I've never seen in any of his other works and i enjoyed that immensely. But i guess i must concede that the plot is nothing too special but as a snapshot into a dying world and one person who lives there it absolutely worked for me.
  6. Having gotten the hardcover because i am also pretty impulsive i would definitely recommend you get it as an electronic copy as i would assume it would be cheaper. The novella is pretty amazing though and is definitely some of sandersons best writing to date.
  7. Windy are you by any chance referring to the use of hoods in Silence?
  8. Oh okay thank you windy. I always wondered where that date came from. Are the decade gaps between the elantris books a real thing still?
  9. I for one would absolutely love to read about Shai again but wouldn't mind if we never see her again really... In regards to forging appearing in elantris 2 it is quite likely to be there in a cameo role and nothing more i would think. The next elantris book is supposed to set ten years after the first one isn't it and according to the coppermind emperors soul is 30 years afterwards. So seeing Shai in elantris 2 is very unlikely unless she is a lot younger. Of course i don't know how solid the information i have is.
  10. Yeah the space travel thing is definitely not in Shadows unless i missed something... I too was under the impression that space travel was going to be referred to in Sixth.
  11. Buy. This would be interesting There will be at least one cosmere novella released next year.
  12. This is beautiful.
  13. God Beyond how did you do it? Just incredible! I guess my ninja skills aren't good enough around here these parts.
  14. Happy birthday to Peter! My change is impossible to see through XP
  15. Yeah I thought so too...but there it was sitting on the shelf screaming at me to buy it and now... I'm savouring every word , hopefully it's cheaper for you guys though. Only interested in Martin and a few others in the anthology. Edit: Okay well I've finished it now and it was pretty good if somewhat predictable but that happens if you stretch forty or so pages over three days. Wish there was a lot more, the world and characters were so interesting. It seems to be pretty readily available here in New Zealand maybe the British publisher or whoever published it here released it early for some reason .... has anyone else gotten a hold of it?
  16. Guess what I just bought for $50... Yes you guessed it Dangerous Woman anthology. Half way through SfSitFoH and it's so good... hopefully better than eating poor student budget blowing for 50 pages of Sanderson awesomeness.
  17. Wonko i would definitely agree with you. I didnt understand lerasium only increasing ones abilities to a specific and restrictive cap level. Lerasium is one of the more interesting metals, do we know if it can be used hemalurgically? Sorry if that is a stupid question.
  18. I think and I mean no offense that maybe anime probably isn't the right word to be used as you're clearly very hung up on things in anime that are definitely not intrinsic to it. Yes you are absolutely spot on with what you are saying for a majority of anime. But if SA were to be produced as an anime Mr. Sanderson who has shown involvement in past nonbook projects (the mistborn rpg ) would definitely want to produce something atypical without a lot of the quirks anime carries around with it. Of course you are more than entitled to your opinion and I would agree with you completely if the case was SA being completely handed over to a Japanese studio without any input by Team Sanderson. In regards to your statement on anime not being able to create manly men I really don't understand that at all so would you please elaborate? As for landscape what you were saying about having Whelan's backgrounds is something that could be done very eeasily. In some of the more costly anime today the backgrounds are pretty much matte paintings with the surroundings something close to CGI like in Fate/zero. Now its nothing close to avatar animation but i feel like that film was already too expensive to justify. The line drawings are something that seems to almost exclusively belong to characters. Of course ideally SA would be best as a live action TV series with an Avatar sized budget and though this would be amazingly awesome it just cannot be a reality well for now at least. Otherwise I do agree with your points on Kaladin's skin glowing that would indeed be tough to manage in an anime, but the medium has come a long way since Dragonball Z so maybe it wouldn't be as bad as you think. But then again you are giving what you would ideally want for SA in popular media so who am I to say that you're wrong because you're not, it's just that your perception of anime seems a bit narrow though not incorrect and I just wanted to open your view of anime up a bit. Of course you can still dislike the idea of an SA anime but yeah I think anyone's ideas being challenged in a sensible and considerate way can only promote growth and if I have offended you I am sincerely apologetic.
  19. I definitely would not want to see it made into a Shounen but something more along the lines of Seinen like these anime you mention. Man... If Ufotable produced a Mistborn or SA anime with less stylisation on characters I would be so behind that. Edit: got type moon confused with Ufotable... silly me.
  20. Shai and Hoid. Just because they're both super capable and cosmere aware, though Hoid is undoubtedly more knowledgeable. I think it would be a nice twist to move from hunting this man who betrayed her to ending up with him, would love to see a flustered Hoid. They both have very diverse and varied identities.
  21. Didn't that end out being Nakor? Man I have those last books on my bookshelf but uni and stuff stopped me from reading them... I made this thread to encourage myself back into the books just so I could finish them. But they're just not as interesting as I remember.
  22. Didn't he turn into a god or something? I never really understood anything with him he was like the walking deus ex machina.
