    X's avatar sat in silence for a moment. "So," he said. "Iye has Melody. And my power. And she wants Y's power..." He sighed hollowly. "Anyone else think we're screwed?"

    Eh, the most interesting stuff always happens when stuff goes off the rails. X's avatar groaned, sitting down with a thump on the ground. "Wonderful," he said glumly. "Just wonderful." Y's winds raged furious. "Come here, traitor!" she shrieked. Dark clouds began to form in the skies ahead. Y lifted into the air on the wind, chasing after I as fast as the winds could carry her.

    I was not going in this direction... *sigh* Guess I'll just have to roll with it. X was dismayed. This hadn't been part of the plan. Y slapped X's avatar with a whip of wind and he flinched backwards. "Get out of my way!" she yelled at Nameless, surging him with angry winds.

    I was envisioning Y holding Melody close to herself and pulling the gag off that way.

    Wasn't the Melody tied up to the tree an illusion, not substantial? Also, Y would have released the real Melody once X's avatar made his promise.

    I think the Melody X transferred the power to was the real one... Y was fully willing to trade her away if it meant getting ahold of X's power. She expected X to be more honorable than he wound up being. "Treachery," hissed Y. "This is unlike you, X." "Wrong," said X's avatar, smiling. "The me you knew died. I was reborn in his place."

    Jared's eyes flashed impatiently. "Well, where did he go?"

    Really, the question is "would an invasion work?"

    Jared cursed. "Where did this... Winter... take her?"

    "What?" said Jared, breaking his Silence. "You let her be kidnapped?"

    Y stares hungrily at X's avatar. She reaches out with the winds, ready to take the power that is now hers by right. The winds brush X's avatar, and the hunger in her eyes is replaced by fury. "What is the meaning of this?" she screams, angry winds beginning to stir around her.

    "The deal is accepted," hisses Y in triumph. "Let the price be paid." X's avatar nods once, solemnly. He takes Melody's hand in his and gives her a confident smile. His hand tingles, and Melody can feel the power flowing into her. "Hold onto it for me," he murmurs, and goes to face Y.

    The sword hit an invisible barrier an inch from Jared's skin. Where, he asked (ignoring Enter) is my sister?

    X's avatar closed his eyes. "Is this true?" he asked quietly. "Got that straight," snarked Y. "Can't stand another moment on this jumbled mess of a world." X's avatar sighed. "Very well," he said. "Release the girl. I will let you take whatever power from me you desire."

    Jeffery and Nya made to follow him wherever he was going. Jared ran towards the rapidly closing portal, but he wasn't quite quick enough to make it before it closed. No matter, however. Portals like this always left a trace. All he had to do was reach out, grab it... ...and step. *** Without warning, Jared flashed into existence in front of the group, red blade outstretched. There you are, he said. I've been looking for you.

    "Take out the gag," X's avatar said, his voice on edge. Y raised an eyebrow. "Why should I-" "I have what you want," said X's avatar. "And you want it badly. You don't dare mess it up." Y sniffed at this, but removed the gag.
