  1. X's avatar blinked. "You could talk to Fate, I suppose... but you shouldn't unless you need to." X's avatar sighed wistfully. "If only that were possible. When you leave for the portal, you will have to leave me behind again."
  2. "Let's see it, then," said Y, hopping to her feet.
  3. "Shattered glass!" said Woden abruptly, then fell silent.
  4. "Sure. Do any of you have a coordinate thingy? For recording locations?"
  5. X's avatar blinked. "Circumstances depend," he replied. "Usually those who have them are born with them, but it is possible to find one."
  6. "A piece of the power that makes up reality," explained X's avatar.
  7. "Escape..." Woden twitched. "Escape is bad. Accura needs me to stay. To stay. Fire? Maybe not, maybe?"
  8. "Yes, and I'm not sure. Not having a dream crystal eliminates many of the possibilities."
  9. In the process returning it to something like normality.
  10. "There's always more than one way to look at things," said Ashley. "You'd be surprised..."
  11. "It's space real enough to travel through," said Ashley, raising an eyebrow. "If you know how."
  12. "Sure!" said X's avatar, and launched into the story. ---- The Longest Thread is a place of unhindered, brilliant chaos- a canvas for a million different dreams. Dream that, if unleashed on the worlds, would spell the downfall of order everywhere. TLT guards against this possibility, holding Narrators in a cell they don't even realize exists. The barrier responsible for this protection is known as the Fourth Wall (a name which the reasons for have been lost to time) a construction that draws any dream weaver with enough power to become a Narrator into its clutches. Such has it been since the Dies Luxfrang in the Eternity Before. But no prison is perfect- especially not in a place of such unhindered chaos. One Narrator, one character, stepped outside the Fourth Wall in a way that had never been done before. A Narrator by the name of Shard of Thought.
  13. "An ancient race of beings that ruled the Vibrant threads with light and order. They were exterminated by the withergeists in the Eternity Before." "The Void? Yes, I know of it."
  14. "A time far removed from our own," explained Ashley. "No matter how far back you look, you will never be able to reach things that happened in the Eternity Before... and yet, things persist from then."
  15. "Yes, although varying sizes."
  16. Woden hesitated. "Forwards is fire."
  17. X's avatar nodded. "Well, long ago - relatively speaking - the weavings of the Authors brought a few Narrators together in a tale of despair and hope, anger and forgiveness."
  18. "Empire is perhaps too strong of a word," replied Ashley, walking into the tent with a new pair of glasses. "It hasn't been a proper empire since the fall of the luxsprites. Domain would be a better term." "No more than usual, these days. The name is somewhat of a carryover from the Eternity Before."
  19. "Yes," replied X's avatar, getting a distant look in his eyes for a brief moment. Then he snapped out of it "I take it you know nothing of the past, then?"
