  1. "Um. I don't actually know what a dialyzer is."
  2. It's hidden and secret shh Onyx bowed his head. "I am sorry for that. Until we meet again, I suppose." "You know him?" Selppaenip interjected, surprised. Nogard blinked. "Huh. How did I not notice you until now?" "Speaking of 24 hours," said Bacon, "I don't suppose the nullite has left your system yet, Shoe?"
  3. You have a choice, said the man simply. Either you can have your enulling abilities excised, or you can accept our tutelage and be trained in their usage. Far away... John knelt side by side with his fellow new acolytes. They knelt in a half circle around a raised dais in front of a throne, upon which a figure in dark robes sat impassively. On the dais was a floating black spirit- the withergeist that had recruited them. "Master Charnyx," it was saying. "If you would just give me one more chance-" The figure- Charnyx- cut him off with a raised palm. "You," he said, "are a fool." The withergeist sputtered. "I... I simply sought the return of our Lord..." "You think it has not been tried?" Charnyx's face was hidden beneath the darkness of the robe, but his eyes burned black. "You think that we have not exhausted every avenue available to us to call forth the Darkest One? You have failed, Sizix. You were meant to claim new servants in secret, not broadcast your goals to any Ennuller and Narrator who cared to listen." He shook his head, raising his hand and conjuring images of black ink in the air. John recognized them- they were the 'heroes' that had defeated Sizix's host and scattered their forces. One in particular stood out to him- a young woman with a fierce expression. I wonder if we will meet again? he thought idly. "You have failed," repeated Charnyx with a wave of his hand. "Leave. I have no further use for you." Sizix let out a cry as an invisible force struck him and carried him away. The dark-robed man sighed, gazing over the pictures he had conjured from ink. "Will you be wise," he muttered to himself, "and stay out of matters you have no business in...? Somehow, I doubt it." John's eyes followed, taking in each portrait. Remarkable. Each person was rendered in fine detail- he must have received their likenesses from the many withergeists that had accompanied Sizix. Those that had survived, at least. They had captured every single one- All of a sudden, John frowned. "Where is he?" he said to himself. Then he froze. Had he said that out loud? Charnyx's burning gaze turned to him. John felt a chill in his bones. "Where," said the dark-robed figure, "is who?" "The last member of the party," John replied. No use being coy now. "Another Narrator. Brown hair, brown eyes, very gaudily dressed. You have everyone else, but not him." The black eyes stared at John for several long moments, a gaze that felt like it pierced him to his very soul. Who knew? Perhaps it did. He resisted the urge to fidget. "You speak the truth," murmured Charnyx. He didn't sound angry, which was a relief. No, he sounded... bewildered? "Bacon the Bard. Of all places for you to appear." He leaned back in his chair. "Now this... this is a revelation indeed." A broad smile spread across his face, barely visible in the shadow of his hood. "Perhaps poor Sizix has managed to do something useful after all..."
  4. Nogard's brow creased. "Don't I... know you?" "Master!" cried Selppaenip. "Are you well?" "Yes... you are dead, are you not?"
  5. Nogard also stared at the new person, still not entirely sure what was going on. "Thank you for the offer... though I fear I dare not leave this castle."
  6. Nogard winced. "Where are we? What's going on?" "Reasonable enough." Onyx extended his hand, and Lore coalesced within it. "So it is," he said. And so it was.
  7. The chains conformed to the shape of the power, locking it in place. In the real world, the power to the tendrils was abruptly cut off. There, said the doctor. It has been contained. For now.
  8. Fast enough. Don't forget that the Silent Halls naturally resist extreme acceleration. The Strands found it impossible to break through the power of ordered darkness in their current state. "In their current state." Inside the mindscape, the doctor relaxed. Found it, she said. She vanished. Out in the real world, she opened her eyes, noting the strands struggling against the barrier keeping them in. The chains began to contract, squeezing the power down into a point.
  9. Makes sense. The other ennuller calmly froze the strand as it struck.
  10. ? It's locked up tight- it can't go anywhere. "I suppose I could." Bacon concentrated for a second. "There. I grew one."
  11. The chains resisted slicing, patiently coiling around the tentacles until they had wrapped it completely. The doctor's eyes were narrowed in concentration. The field keeping the power of the mass restrained within Tenth held firm. "Plenty, but none big enough to host a party inside of."
  12. Got it, said the doctor finally, snapping off her writing. Chains erupted from the ground around the Strands, wrapping themselves around the writhing mass, seeking inwards. Nogard seemed to be more or less fine, just shaken from having been carried by Plot-Beast claw for a considerable distance. "Of course," Onyx replied. "Relax, we've got twenty-four hours. That's like forever!" They're all in the same place now. "A party, of course!"
  13. Selppaenip waved. Nogard groaned and collapsed on the ground, eyes closed. Onyx said nothing. "So," asked Bacon. "You completed your final project! Congratulations! We should celebrate somehow."
  14. "To be clear, I am not a leader." Bacon teleported them back to the town. Is that meant to be the Nullite?
  15. [Got it,] received TP, doing as instructed. Onyx snorted. "They're wasting their time. The mantle has been banished far, far into the Void; they have no chance of bringing it back." "He's back at the town, looking for you," said Bacon. "I went and rescued him."

    Page 1

Are you asking about this page specifically, or about all of the pages? The Book of Unwinding Thread is a series of stories summing up the plots on TLT that I was involved in. CBST was an offshoot of TLT, back in the days when plot was heavily frowned upon.
  17. "Well, I have a castle made entirely out of them!" Bacon teleported them both to the castle to demonstrate. "What do you suppose they're talking about, Shoe?" asked Bacon thoughtfully.
  18. "Character Development," said Bacon smugly.
  19. "Oh. Er, you aren't still going to grab him, are you?" Onyx sighed. "It was a gift. From... the Narrator before me." Why not? Is it a secret? Bacon shook the man's hand. "Absolutely, good sir! Tell me, what is your opinion on Bacon Sandwiches?" "Hah!" declared Bacon. "I knew it!" The bubble held firm against the Strands as the doctor continued to write, but she did speed up her pace. This is your mind, she said. You have control. Can you restrain... whatever it is?
  20. "Well, we'd better go and find her, then! We should hurry, though. We don't want to miss Sequence's party!" "Uh," said Selppaenip, peering down at the eruption, "Is the volcano supposed to be doing that?" Onyx just stared out the window, wordless.
  21. Onyx continued to stare out the window. "Perhaps... that is better left forgotten." "You lost Livetha?" Bacon asked. The doctor created a dome of safety around them both. Whatever it is, it is most definitely not supposed to be here. She began to make patterns with her hands, muttering under her breath. What does everything in the dreamscape represent?
  22. Selppaenip scratched his ear. He felt slightly uneasy, for some reason. Onyx snorted. "Since before then."
  23. "Funny," said the Bacon on the other side, "we were just about to go to where you were!" "Well, they can't be that important of Ennullers with fancy names like those." "Alright, TP!" Selppaenip declared. "Back to the volcano!" TP grumbled and turned around. Again. Onyx raised a hand and conjured an object- a puzzle cube. Within a minute of appearing, it had melted into a fine dust.
  24. The doctor Nullified the movement of the strand, freezing it in place. Do you know why it is so... unruly? "I'll do my best," said Bacon glumly. "Thank you very much for the heads up. Do you know who these rogue Ennullers are?" Selppaenip shrugged. "Sounds reasonable to me." He extended a hand for a handshake. Onyx turned, staring out of a window into the darkness beyond. "It seemed... better, I suppose. More fitting."
  25. Shoot! And yes, I imagine it would be able to. Selppaenip grunted. "Could I not take him into custody myself?" Onyx became still at this. "There are not many people who have set up shop in my realm," he said, his tone unreadable. "Forgive me, I... am not the best with faces." The Ennuller pressed his lips together and nodded. Very well. Twenty-four hours to make your decision and get your affairs in order. I will return when the time is up to take your answer. With that, he vanished. "Ah," said Bacon. "Those pesky rogue ennullers. The High Council should really do something about them sometime, I presume."
