  1. Woden followed, playing with a piece of cactus.
  2. Yᴇs, replied the Blademaster. ɪᴛ ᴡɪʟʟ ʟɪsᴛᴇɴ ᴛᴏ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍɪɴᴅs ᴏғ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴇɴᴇᴍɪᴇs ᴀɴᴅ ɢᴜɪᴅᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ᴅᴇsᴛʀᴜᴄᴛɪᴏɴ. Aɴᴅ, ᴏɴᴄᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ʙᴏɴᴅᴇᴅ ɪᴛ, ɪᴛ ᴡɪʟʟ ʙᴇ ʟᴏʏᴀʟ ᴛᴏ ᴏɴʟʏ ʏᴏᴜ- ғɪɴᴅɪɴɢ ɪᴛs ᴡᴀʏ ʙᴀᴄᴋ ᴛᴏ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʜᴀɴᴅ ʙʏ ᴀɴʏ ᴍᴇᴀɴs ɴᴇᴄᴇssᴀʀʏ. "My name is Astrados," replied the voice.
  3. Y yanked the pins from Concerto's hands and stuck them in the corners.
  4. You decide to substitute the bird for a cat. You've already gone to all the trouble to set up the sacrificial symbols and whatnot; it would be a shame to let them go to waste. What's the worst that could happen? After the demise of thirty-three woolen sweaters, two kegs of milk, and every last bit of seafood in the ship's buffet, you finally manage to subdue the demon and push it back through the rift. You may have nightmares about hairballs for the rest of your life, but at least you're still alive. Unfortunately, the birds are even angrier now- especially since most were also large fans of seafood. Do you:
  5. Unfortunately, it was a blackbird pie. Now your seagull army is infuriated. And also hungry. Do you: 1. Console the birds by sacrificing the ship's cat 2. Console the birds by ransacking the nearest bakery 3. Console the birds by performing an eldritch ritual 4. Forget the birds and become a fish.
  6. "Is here not unshattered?" asked Woden.
  7. Y used the wind to pin the map to the board.
  8. "Alright!" There was a pause. "I suppose we'd better... get you to the time portal, then," said X's avatar at last.
  9. Woden held the glass handprint in his hand, marvelling at the smoothness of it. "Unshattered," he said. "Unshattered."
  10. Fate did not respond, for he was gone. "Yes... I think so," said X's avatar, looking equal parts relieved and worried. "Although it sounded like he'd have further instructions for you once you retrieve the crystal."
  11. "Ah!" said Woden. "Indeed!"
  12. "Yes. Do not worry- follow our deal, and your friend's life will be restored."
  13. "It?" asked Woden uncertainly.
  14. Fate's eyes flashed cerulean. The end of his staff flickered in sync. "It is done," he declared, closing his eyes. One popped open. "Oh, one more thing.... don't try to change what you know has happened You won't be able to. You'll regret it."
  15. Woden gasped. "Unshattering!"
  16. "That's the point of the deal, isn't it? I give you the luck you need to use the portal, you retrieve the crystal and bring it to a specific place (which I will inform you of once you have the crystal)."
  17. "A pinboard won't be much use without a map, will it?"
  18. "You have access to a time portal," replied Fate. "Be creative. Anyways, do you accept these terms?"
  19. "Of course not. You'll need to retrieve it first."
  20. "Me?" Fate laughed. "I have no use for a dream crystal. I am the dream crystals. No, what I need you to do is deliver it to a certain location. You'll know what to do from there."
  21. The floor fell out beneath her feet as she fell into... nothingness. Except, despite its lack of substance... it wasn't empty. There were other beings there, watching her. She could sense them, could almost see them at the corners of her vision. Shadows, just like the one attached to James. Greetings, young one, hissed a voice gently.
  22. "That amulet was much more than a simple magical trinket. It was, in fact, a dream crystal. You probably should not have let it get stolen."
