    The chaos struggled against the order. A quiet bark was heard. A Silent barrier blocked it in its path. The order of the universe opened up before it as it departed, then shut silently behind it once more. The Knight faced Bob, Silent blade in hand.

    It is. The power of Order is strong with him- he stabilizes this universe where he stands, preventing breaches and linkages.

    Likely he is just defending their realm from invasion, the survey replied. And preventing you from being rescued.

    He is a consultant, the survey replied in shaky handwriting. A strong one. Their Knight.

    The stranger released a pulse of Silence that froze Nameless in place for ten seconds, then stepped around him.

    The newly-appeared stranger focused his attention on the Quarkbeast. A Silent Blade formed in his outstretched hand. It crackled red.

    One last time, a slight wind blew. And then, a flash of blue. A man appeared, hand outstretched, eyes obscured.

    The Darkbeast has a long way to go before it gets to them. Sound stopped working altogether. Bob's words faded into nothing. The group was still exactly where they were. Again, a slight wind blew.

    Except- nothing happened. Bob, Nameless, and Moni remained exactly where they were. A slight wind blew.

    As Bob talked, even the mental part of the voice began to drop in volume, as if a distance had been drawn between his mind and the minds of those he was speaking to.

    Even the hum of the Narrationblade, constant as it usually was, was dulled. And the walls did not end.

    The fire sputtered out after passing through only the first few barriers. And there were still walls behind.

    The Darkbeast finished guzzling a universe.

    The sound gradually faded to silence as they watched, as if they were being taken far away. Each wall turned to dust, revealing another wall behind it, on and on and on and on.

    The jackhammer's sound was, too muted. No longer was it dangerous to be around without ear protection.

    Every attempt seemed to hit a brick wall, bouncing off to some arbitrary location.

    The voices of Nameless and Moni were strangely muted, as though they had been on an airplane for a long time.

    A pulse of empty energy. A silent snap. The portal link from Nameless to the outside world was- in an instant- made void. There would be no retreat.

    The wall broke as if made of dust, revealing... another wall. It made no sound as it crumbled. Nor did the footfalls of Nameless as he tumbled into the scene.

    The walls shook. They did not rumble. They did not squeak. Thaidakar's consultant was pulled from the battle. To stay was death.

    The flesh of the Quarkbeast melted into a slurry of energy as it resisted the power of the Silent Blade. The consultant cursed, dismissing the blade, and vanished.

    A consultant popped through the wall, Silent Blade extended towards the Quarkbeast. The walls breathed a sigh of relief that Thaidakar's character had intercepted the sledgehammer. The walls did their best to dull the Quarkbeast's teeth. The Darkbeast munched on a universe.

    The walls visibly pulled away from the sledgehammer slightly.
