  1. It is useless on Scadrial if its not used by ferring. Perservation's investiture can be accessed only with Allomancy(burning metals) or Hemalurgically stolen Allomancy. Feruchemists can't burn metal. Feruchemical nicrosil would've been more useful on planets where Investiture can be accessed by Nicrosil Feruchemists. We didn't assume that using any Investiture lets you use any Magic System. It just allows you to fuel any Magic System you can use. Although I think there's a chance for Mistings to use every single Allomantic ability if they accept investiture without burning metals. Not sure though just yet. Do Mistings sense/feel/etc metal they can't burn? If Breeze swallowed pewter would he magically sense/feel/etc it inside him? I remember something like that....
  2. Yeah, but then same could be said about Breath. I don't think we have any proof that Scadrian can either give or take Breaths from Nalthisians. Basically nobody would be able to use any other kind of Investiture without having SDNA from another planet which would make this info useless in practice. Either SDNA which allows one to accept one kind of Investiture is universal and allows accepting all of them or you'd have to do something special to achieve that but: We know Demoux could use Stormlight to see future but we don't know how he could do it. In my opinion its more important if Misting would be able to "burn" Stormlight to use every allomantic ability.
  3. Feruchemical nicrosil would be able to store Stormlight/Breath, etc. On Scadrial its pretty useless if you're not ferring because you can't access investure without Allomancy but on Roshar it would've been very useful support role
  4. If I remember correctly Allomancers need metals to access Investiture. If they 'swallow' Investiture itself, they should be able to convert it to their magic system. Demoux wouldn't need to swallow spheres, breathing in Stormlight would be enough. If you use Breath to supply Allomantic powers, you would be able to use every single allomantic ability with it. Problem with Scadrial magic is that SDNA isn't enough to access investitures, you need metals as well but Breath is a Investiture as it is, so it should be possible to use every single Allomantic power using it(ones you've got). Feruchemy would be a lot more complicated in a way.
  5. So Demoux can burn stormlight instead of atium ?
  6. I think whole gentleman thing isn't about gentleness, its about nobility. Maer had a good reason to be angry with Kvothe and he's not ruthless or harsh because he likes it, he acts like that because he has to. + There hasn't been anyone else who we could call angry gentleman.
  7. Second half of Deathly Hallows did same for me =)) My first (half) book at age of 15 But Name of the Wind was the one that made fantasy fan out of me
  8. Blood Song by Ryan Anthony. It has many similarities with Kingkiller Chronicle, except its different. Best book I've read in 2013, but there's only first book out of 3. Malazan books are awesome, one of the greatest fantasy series out there and if you can get into it you'll love it but its not easy read. Demon Cycle series by Peter V. Brett(not finished). Broken Empire by Mark Lawrence. It's really dark though. First Law by Joe Abercrombie if you like badassery and aren't looking for something with lots of magic and heroic quests about saving world.
  9. Kvothe isn't a gentleman, Maer is. It was discussed several times in WMF. "There are three things all wise men fear: the sea in storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man." First he gets in a storm, then he meets Felurian on moonless night and in the end he angers Maer. That's how I see it.
  10. I hope Everstorm will come in first half of series. Everyone knows Everstorm is coming, its nothing special at this point and its always disappointing(at least for me) when heroes save the world before actually bad things start to happen. Not to mention that it would make second half totally unpredictable.
  11. Dr. Digits It had been a long day for Twoon Ethree, lots of injuries today and getting intoxicated with alcohol looked better than his wife. And what about Koloss marching on his town. He had more than enough reasons to get drunk. Rumors about sabotage weren't helping at all...
  12. TLR mistakenly ruined his planet. Everything he did from there was in order to save it. Roshar as it is isn't Travargarian's fault but he's ways of saving it might be same. He can't be 'the one who destroys' ofc but neither is he one who redeems. Just because he's not one of four. I see how Travargarian could be the good guy making sacrifices for greater good and having some crazy plans about uniting Roshar and that's possible. I would call him honorable as well but that's arguable point. This topic on the other hand isn't about that. I don't see why people can't imagine Kaladin being destroyer. Vin and company were destroyers too in a way, it just turned out well. Szeth and Shallan are too obvious imo. Szeth being assassin and trying to kill main characters... He's already destroying even if he's doing it because he's controlled and even if he's master has good intentions. So whole mystery would be out of place. Why I think that Shallan won't be the one... She's only woman among 4. I don't see how she could destroy something important. I mean it's not like she's about to lead Alethi's united armies or kill the guy who's leading those armies. She's just a pupil, all she could do is do some little bits of betrayal here and there. Only reason I'm not 100% sure about this is because of her connection with Ghostbloods. Now Dalinar and Kaladin are believable candidates. Dalinar is about to lead greatest army on Roshar. I'm 100% sure 'unite them' isn't about alethi or humans on roshar, its about humans and parshendi. And Dalinar could try to destroy Parshendi, that's one of his main motivations of uniting 10 armies. Not to mention that they killed he's brother. This guy could 'destroy' even if he's honor stays in place. Kaladin is my main candidate. He's literally hanging in balance between Honor and Odium. He's actions so far are honorable, that's why he's becoming Radiant but how would he act if he met Amaram? I mean, he's been through so much !@#$ that honor is the only reason for which he's not being an obvious villain of some other story. Take that honor away and he'll either end his own life or try to have his revenge on Lighteyes. He also could mistakenly 'destroy' just like Vin did. I want it to be Shallan but I doubt it. Most likely its Dalinar.
  13. Dalinar has a bloody warlord past but seriously how is Taravangian better choice? He would be Rosharian TLR except with less immortality(most likely) and I don't see him trying to save Roshar the way TLR was trying. Not to mention that he, as far as we know, doesn't have same knowledge as TLR and by his actions so far he's most likely controlled/mistaken/used by Odium. I mean, whats with killing leaders all over the world and thus disrupting even that little bit of unity and control that Rosharians had. Dalinar at least follows the codes and codes were written for Knights Radiant who were good guys and they didn't lose because of those codes, they lost because their leaders failed to keep living with those codes. So as long as Dalinar follows codes, we're all good. I also think that Shallan will be the one to destroy w/e. But Kaladin is a possibility too, he's honorable, but he hasn't forgotten his grudges yet either.
  14. Yellow stars are hotter than red ones. Yellow is hotter than red and white is hotter than yellow. Our sun is actually Green/Blue star, not yellow/white, its just how we see it. TLR didn't make sun hotter, he just moved planet closer to it. Color of sun itself didn't change. Ashmounts thickened/darkened Scadrials sky, that's why sun looked red AND planet didn't burn because heat couldn't get through as well. Normal people couldn't see stars for same reason. ... yes you CAN see red sun in winter at dawn, does that mean that sun changes color? :|
  15. If I'm not mistaken red colored stars are 'coldest' burning suns which could mean that those worlds would last longer than yellow ones... but idk why this could be important. Except maybe those are Yolen's or some very old things solar systems... Sun in Mistborn isn't red, its just how human eyes see it through messed up atmosphere.
  16. Yeah, Lightbringer > Night Angel. But still, its one of my favorites =) btw looks like there gonna be second trilogy set in same world as Night Angel.
  17. Yup looks like that forgot Susebron was returned...
  18. I wasn't replying to your post... I was replying to OP. IMO Shashara's purpose for returning was giving Vasher her breath.
  19. If I remember correctly Vasher can become DRAB even though he's a returned. He can give up his divine breath and stay alive. As far as we know divine breath 'heals' non-returned humans but we've never heard or seen returned giving breath/healing Returned. Most likely it has different effect on returned and that might be the reason why Vasher can do stuff other returned can't. Maybe Shashara gave him her divine breath and that had some kind of strange effect on him. I've read WB long time ago and I don't remember why Vasher killed Shashara, but it might not be as simple as it was explained in first book...
  20. Not really. There are some nice guesses but most of the stuff about Kel being 17thshards founder is just too far-fetched imo. I mean, he could be, but with same amount of proofs that could be said about other characters. For example it could be Harmony simply because nonintervention(openly) isn't as much unbelievable for him as much as for Kel and creating 17thshard would've been easier for him. + IMO 17th shard is a more scholarly organization than some kind of Cosmere Police for catching worldhoppers and/or saving the world. And as far as I know Kel wasn't that type of a character. Founders of 17th shard could easily be Elantrians and Returned simply because they are immortal or at least got a really long lifespan, most of the characters from those books were scholarly and it wouldn't surprise me if they found out about Cosmere. Not to mention that Elantrians(those before Reod) could've been aware of Cosmere. So I'm not saying your theory is wrong, there are just too many other possibilities you can't prove wrong and you don't have any proofs to put "Kelsier is a founder of a 17th shard" above those guesses. But if this was all about Kel being one of the candidates then you're right. He could be and you got some nice guesses about how he could've pulled it off. Edit: After remembering how much I love Kelsier I'll just have to go with it... So followers of survivorism affect his Cognitive and Spiritual realms which both were expanded/upgraded/whatever by holding Preservation for a time hence shaping him into an actual god. So he COULD be considered as a Shard. He just lacks adonalsiumness therefore he's not as powerful as other gods and can't face them in an old fashioned Kelsier style. Most likely he created 17th shard with Sazed because why not. And 17th shards main purpose is to pull of some sick heist to get something real important done, what that thing is I don't know though This also could be a reason why they're against open interventions, because they're doing something behind the scenes just like Hoid but they need Hoid to stop whatever he's doing because: A. He might accidentally(or not) undermine their plan. B. Most likely Hoid is trying to recreate Adonalsium, which might not be as fun as it sounds. As far as we know it might as well destroy whole Cosmere. Kel would be against that. Especially if he developed his own intent: Survival. Now if Hoid knows what Adonalsium's revival will bring and he's still trying to do it then he might be our main antagonist which I hope he isn't. Ahh but two greatest masterminds of Cosmere clashing in the final battle of minds... Sorry Hoid, you'll have to die bro ;(
  21. I remember BS saying that Kel's still around so I doubt he's gone for good. He won't get revived but he'll be there for sure. Being Sliver might make you stronger but that's besides the point. 17th shard isn't a real shard and someone being Sliver once doesn't means its named after him(because there's a difference between Slivers and Shards obviously). So there's no reason to think that Kel is a founder. On the other hand I believe holding a Shard even for a short time makes you special but that doesn't necessarily means becoming more powerful. And I think it might be possible for Demoux to be Kels agent instead of Sazeds.
  22. Only way Szeth could win against TLR is by surprise. Otherwise TLR would just kill him with a single slap to face. And there's no way Szeth could do a thing to prevent that if TLR knew about Shardblade and Surgebinding even if he knew about TLR's abilities. So in a fair fight TLR wins. If neither of them knew about each others abilities TLR might have lost it because most likely he'd underestimate Szeth and Szeth would go straight for the kill. And ofc if only one of them knew about another's powers then he would've won it easily. Theoretically its a draw but in sheer power TLR is strongest guy in Cosmere so far and IMO Szeth isn't that strong cosmerewise.
  23. Heroes and Red Country :3 any info about next trilogy? I'm really excited for his YA books but I need some more books with Named Men
  24. What happens when Shardblade cuts feruchemical bracers/rings/etc. they get cut or just lose whatever's stored there?
