What are the titles above the reputation levels?
Scion of the Mists replied to Llarimar's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
This is a helpful, if somewhat outdated, post: -
I always subscribed to the "ESP" version that you described above. It honestly never occurred to me that it would be any other way. Do they ever talk about whether or not line of sight is required in the books? I don't recall them ever showing people having to look backwards to establish anchors. For example, in a pushing match between two Allomancers. Do they both have to push on the coin in between them and then both look backward to find an anchor?

[OB] Justified racism on Roshar and elsewhere
Scion of the Mists replied to Llarimar's topic in Stormlight Archive
Regarding the Noble/Skaa differences: -
Interesting. I've always assumed that pushing and pulling worked in virtually the same way. It doesn't make sense to me to require line of sight to pull on an object, but not push on it. Or do you mean that you have to "see" an object to begin pushing on it, and then subsequently don't have to view it anymore. This seems like a strange assumption to make - I don't remember them every talking about it in the books.

It wouldn't let him surpass the terminal velocity, but it would change what that velocity is. Terminal velocity occurs when the force of gravity is canceled out by the force of the air resistance. A larger gravitational force would allow for a higher air resistance force, which would mean a larger top speed. However, air resistance is proportional to your velocity squared, so it's not a one to one increase.

soulcasting Physics of Soulcasting

If the boulder example was volume preserving, it wouldn't have "billowed out" - it would have been sucked in due to the decrease in density.- 19 replies

[OB] The 3rd Bondsmith or the 10th Unmade?
Scion of the Mists replied to KnightRadiant301's question in Cosmere Q&A
They're actually both in agreement. Caevita said that there are not ten; Belzedar said that there are nine.- 10 replies

Does anyone know what Brandon read during Jordancon?
Scion of the Mists replied to MountainKing's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Nowhere in that WOB does Brandon say that Hoid burned the Lerasium. He talks about Hoid's goal, what Lerasium does, and how Hoid has used Allomancy, but never comes out and says what happened to the bead. Again, I believe that he did burn the entire bead to become a Mistborn, and that Brandon is just messing with us. -
Does anyone know what Brandon read during Jordancon?
Scion of the Mists replied to MountainKing's topic in Cosmere Discussion
FYI, Brandon has not confirmed this and has, in fact, been rather coy about it. He has confirmed that Hoid has used Allomancy. Personally, I believe that he did burn it, and that this is "The Man who Calls Himself Taln" all over again. WOBs spoilered for length: -
[OB] Importance of Numbers in the Cosmere
Scion of the Mists replied to Ashspren's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yeah, I think that at this point I've been convinced that the numbers are related to the planets, not the Shards. The question is, why? It makes intuitive sense for the Shards to have a some sort of mystical number (they're basically gods, after all). But why would different planets be associated with different numbers? -
[OB] Importance of Numbers in the Cosmere
Scion of the Mists replied to Ashspren's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Kandra, Inquisitor, and Koloss. Oh, gotcha. By forms, I thought you meant more like the 16 metals. Coppermind calls those Hemalurgical Constructs, and there's actually a forth form - Chimeras. -

Also, remember that not all Shards are associated with numbers. What are the 3 forms of Hemalurgy? -
[OB] Gavilar's Sphere WOB
Scion of the Mists replied to Scion of the Mists's question in Cosmere Q&A
Oh, duh. I did think it was strange that nobody else had picked up on that WOB. Guess I should have tried harder to catch up with all the OB threads. -
That's how I think of it too. With the caveat that the Scadrians are doing this instinctually (I don't think they have a good understanding of the physics behind it).
-
In a recent WOB from Jordancon, Brandon says that the sphere "is what you think it is and what the third book implies that it is." However, there are multiple theories here on the Shard regarding what's in it (most common are voidlight and Unmade). Is one of them more agreed upon than the rest? Brandon seems like he thinks he's giving us a straight answer, but maybe he doesn't realize just how many crazy theories we come up with. I guess the Oathbringer part makes me lean toward the Unmade theory because of Yelig-nar's prominence in the climax (I don't think voidlight was mentioned as much), but Gavliar having "access to several" Unmade seems like a huge revelation.
-
What does this mean?
-
I think it's likely that all of the Five Scholars are worldhoppers, but AFAIK we don't have confirmation of that (because Brandon loves being coy):

[OB] Wax as a skybreaker
Scion of the Mists replied to Supreme King Z-arc's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I agree that he's more in line with the Windrunners (protecting the innocent and all that). -
There's a WOB (that I can't find), that says that you can learn to give partial breath stores. However, barring that, you could still deposit most of your breath in an object, give the recipient the remaining, and then retrieve the rest.

So, I'm not going to claim to understand the science behind it, but because people are not rigid bodies, it is actually possible to rotate in midair. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_righting_reflex or this video of astronauts in the ISS. However, it's clear that Zane is not performing this motion, so I agree that there must be a different push point.
