    "Alrighty then, which method would you like to use to assemble your Dannnex? We have our older manual method, or our new digitized one!" You take another look around you, this time assembling a mental image.

    "Ah, so you are new. Welcome! Would you like to start the process of creating your very first Danex?" The figure laughs. "Oh, you're funny." A thundering crash, like that of something metallic falling from a great height, is heard from off in the distance. This sound interrupts the previously unnoticed silence, but now that you notice it, it's hard to ignore. The entire building is as quiet as a librarian's tomb. Every word spoken is immediately absorbed into the air with no sign of an echo. You almost feel like you should be whispering.

    "Oh, I'm sorry, we can't do bulk orders at this time. Or ever really. Have you used our services before?" "That's the only kind we have!" The figure chuckles. "I'm sorry, but the process of creating a Dannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnex is incredibly regulated, we cannot simply go off of a customer template. Would you like to start the process?" As you talk with this strange figure, you look around the store some more. You notice that you can't seem to see any walls. The open-floor plan just keeps going and going and going, decorated with all sorts of strange exhibits. Directly ahead of you is a collection of large machines, connected together by conveyor belts. A set of computer terminals is off to one side.

    The shop looked every bit adorable as it did terrifying. Ominous shadows and undefined figures paired with sparkles and cutesy music. One would think that the cute side of the presentation would only amplify the terror side, in the classic "cute thing becoming perverted by evil" way, but no. The cute and the dark were entirely separate. The shop was simply both. You walk in through the saloon-style gate that served as the front door and find that this theme is continued throughout the interior. Off to one side you catch a glimpse of what appears to be a medieval torture device, complete with bloody hooks and chains. On your other side, you see a pleasant little reading nook, complete with bean bag chairs, mood lighting, and snacks. You're so engrossed in this strange dichotomy that you don't even notice the figure approaching you until they speak. "Hello there! Welcome to Build-A-Danex! How can I help you??"

    LIKE, CAPS DONT ACTUALLY TAKE UP MUCH MORE ROOM THAN NORMAL TEXT SO YOU CAN'T SAY THAT IT'S TO PREVENT SPAM

    you guys talked about it i never said anything but just think about it that doesn't make sense you could just intentionally take forever and artificially increase how long i have to wear it y'all should be penalized for how long it took, like we start with a base value and -1 for every day it took you to get enough votes but i'll think about that later

    alright i just had a fun idea, I just set a timer on my phone for 10 minutes, and I'm just gonna keep writing things in this SU until the timer runs out. Not allowed to stop typing. This'll be fun. Timer currently at 9:15.

    So how are you guys doing today? I'm fine, didn't go to school though. Because yep.
    My dress rehearsal for my school's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is today. Opening night is tomorrow. Quite stressed about that. I've mentioned this before but I play Naphtali, one of the brothers.

    wow this is going by faster than I thought. Still, 7 more minutes is a while. What to write, what to write....

    Let's write a story.
    ok, what story should it be...

    uhhh there's a lava lamp here on my desk, let's write a story about lava.
    maybe...there's some sot of underground civilization that worships lava, as it is their only source of energy. they have no sun, so these massive lava wells are what run their civilization. 

    maybe writing a story is a bad idea, but I like this, I'm just gonna keep worldbuilding.

    so there are these like, massive caverns that house this civilization. they are connected to one another by really tight fissures and cracks. not tunnels, more like crawlspaces. but they're like miles long. so travel between the caverns is really dangerous. you could get stuck and starve, or get hunted by some creature. yeah yeah yeah thats good, there are definitely supernatural creatures in this world. something that lives in the cracks.

    maybe some sort of crazy bug swarm. if you get stuck in the Cracks for too long, you run the risk of the Swarm finding you. You'd be eaten alive in seconds.

    ok what else.
    uh
    should the civilization be human? i don't think so. at the very least these people should be human offshoots. generations of living in stone caverns would change humanity drastically. but then you get too close to the dwarf archetype and i don't like that either. 

    lets leave that behind and think about what a potential story could be. there could be differing levels of technology between these Cavern Cities. The ones with the biggest lava source could have invented electricity, while the smaller ones could be supremely impoverished. and because travel between the cities is so rarely done, the differences only grow wider. so...

    oh heck times up.

    well, rules are rules, gotta post now. maybe i'll do this again and continue. i thought for sure i'd run out of things to write, not run out of time to write it. huh.

      last week of rehearsals before musical preformance

      i technically had a 36 hour day because of it.

      (school + rehearsal + stayed over at a friends house +  sat rehearsal)

      so it felt like 2 straight days of rehearsal

      i'm so tired

       

      we haven't had a single tech rehearsal yet without multiple people having breakdowns of some sort
      we all love it, musicals are awesome
      but this is probably the hardest thing i've ever done
      maybe tied with the time i canoed 100 miles down the Colorado

    but it won some sorta district-wide thing

    1. Interstellar everything else is so far below it that it almost isn't worth listing the rest but... 2. Primer 3. Wall-E 4. LOTR 5. Rouge One This isn't a very comprehensive list, as I tried to not have too many things that felt like duplicates. (only one Christopher Nolan movie, only one Pixar movie, only one time travel movie, only one star wars movie etc.)

    eh, seems like a stretch to me. what similarities are there that aren't just due to it being a common trope? seems to me like all the similarities fall under the "rising up from prison/slavery and getting power then going for revenge" trope, and once you consider the differences... Joseph forgives the people who caused him to become a slave Kaladin uhh........

      Tau has its merits especially because it is a full circle but you would have to do weird things with the circle area equation and angles would all be half as big. I would rather multiply than divide so I think I’m on team pi. I respect the tau arguments though.

    i think i've mentioned this before, but i think i'm allergic to chocolate

    whenever i eat chocolate (any type or brand) the roof of my mouth starts hurting almost immediately. its not ridiculously painful and chocolate is delicious, so i usually ignore it. (it actually took me most of my life to realize that this isn't just, a normal part of eating chocolate.)

    i ate a lot of chocolate today and the effects seem to be persisting slightly longer than usual (also seems to be a larger area, back of my mouth/top of throat is hurting too) so i decided to research

    and i dont think its a chocolate allergy exactly
    an actual chocolate allergy seems to be more extreme

    this guy seems to have the exact same thing, but it's like the only example i've found that matches my experience

    first things first, spoiler policy. 1st movie is allowed completely untagged, 2nd movie stuff should be tagged in a spoiler box. i know it came out forever ago, but just in case. k, I just watched A Quiet Place 2 for the first time, and now I'm thinking about the world these movies take place in. Specifically about the monsters. I was wondering what their native environment would look like. What conditions and other organisms must have been present in order for them to evolve the traits that they did. Here's what we know about these monsters: Incredibly strong hearing skin like thick armor amazing predators super fast, super agile, sharp teeth, sharp claws, basically a killing machine certain noises hurt them and then here's some more from AQP2. (nothing is plot-relevant) so what could have prompted these traits? one thing I've been thinking about in particular is which could have come first, the weakness to sound, or the incredible hearing. they could have evolved the great hearing in order to be able to better hunt and destroy potential sounds that could hurt them, or their incredible hearing is so sensitive that the weakness manifested afterwards. either is possible imo. thoughts?
