Nine because 9 is Odiums number. Also, the reason Dalinar only counted nine, not ten, is because he didn't realize Venli is the tenth.

Incorrect. Acceleration is not dependant on mass*, density or size, but only on the gravity of the planet. The reason heavy objects fall faster than light objects (lead ball vs feather) is because heavy objects are slowed down less by the air, because they gain more momentum and therefore need more energy to slow down. In a vacuum, all objects fall at the same speed. So except if Fused are somehow 'lighter' (which I very much doubt, as that's beyond what the Gravitation Surge can do to our knowledge) this isn't why they're slower. *Acceleration actually does depend on mass, but it depends on the masses of both objects added to each other, and the mass of a planet is so much bigger than the mass of a person that it's beyond insignificant.

[OB] Where are the Willshapers? (Spoilers)
Leyrann replied to Ataraxian Wist's topic in Stormlight Archive
Some more clarification, Ico's father is a deadeye, and Ico said his daughter ran off chasing dreams, and Timbre says that her grandfather died in the Recreance. We don't have confirmation, but it seems too much to be a coincidence. -
According to the Ars Arcanum in Way of Kings, however, "A Basic Lashing involved revoking a being's or object's spiritual gravitational bond to the planet below, instead temporarily linking that being or object to a different object or direction." So the standard Basic Lashing is already spiritual in nature.

You are objectively wrong. The only spren that might, theoratically, be able to surpass Syl, once we know more of her, is Maya. And that's only because Adolin reviving her would be so damnation awesome.

Brandon himself said Kaladin was approaching Mary Sue-ness. That's why he gave him a depression.

[OB] Is Cultivation's perpendicularity attached to Lift?
Leyrann replied to Anujun's topic in Stormlight Archive
We have confirmation in Oathbringer (I believe from Syl?) that the perpendicularity Dalinar summons is Honor's perpendicularity. As the perpendicularity in the Horneater peaks does not move, it cannot be Honor's, so it's Cultivation's. (Odiums perpendicularity, for the record, is either on Braize, or it's the Everstorm, as we know he was on Braize in the past, so he wouldn't have had a perpendicularity on Roshar at that point, while we know the perpendicularity in the Horneater Peaks has been there for longer) -
EN Paperback page 466 (chapter 46, second page) Sigzil is wondering about the change a quarter Lashing makes (half as heavy) and then says "Shouldn't it make you twenty-five percent as heavy?". He should be talking about seventy-five percent.

I had that idea a while ago as well:

The mists at night don't exist anymore in MB2, right? Or am I being dumb now? It's been a while since I've read them...

The mist is gone, so I doubt it. (it's about the mist, right? A bit more context wouldn't hurt)

Okay. You win today's internet.

To be fair I think the grand finale won't really be on a single planet. Pretty sure Brandon told us, for example, that it's possible to use Allomancy for FTL travel. The same might be possible with the Gravitation Surge if you lash enough times, I suppose, or even just 'fall' for a long enough distance, though relativistic effects might mess that up; I'm not sure.

Dragonsteel is chronologically first, so before any of our main character's births*. We know, however, that MB4 will be the grand finale of the cosmere, so they'll most likely enjoy long lives, experience technological advancement, get into contact with Scadrial, and then they'll play a part in the finale. *Except of course Hoid and the original Vessels.

[OB] Will the Real Voidbringer Please Stand Up?
Leyrann replied to Wit Beyond Measure's topic in Stormlight Archive
Lift metabolizes food into Stormlight, this is explicitly mentioned in several occasions both in-universe and out-of-universe. In Oathbringer she is also explicitly mentioned to be glowing from Stormlight. Wit is a special case, but we do know from Brandon that a form of Lightweaving existed on Yolen, so he was probably using that. The chart is on this page: https://coppermind.net/wiki/Voidbinding It's also in some of the books, though not in the versions I've read.- 12 replies

[OB] Are the moons related to the bondsmiths?
Leyrann replied to turklemuffink's topic in Stormlight Archive
According to WoB, Odium was on Braize at the time of Way of Kings (though I assume he is now on Roshar for the Desolation), which seems to imply that no moon is needed to travel from planet to planet. -
I mean, I can't think of any reason why this would not be the case, but isn't this a bit of a flimsy theory?

[OB] Will the Real Voidbringer Please Stand Up?
Leyrann replied to Wit Beyond Measure's topic in Stormlight Archive
I can't remember that. Where do we see it? The implication from Eila Stele is that Voidbringers brought their Surges from another world, a world they destroyed using those Surges. Yup, this is why I think Surgebinding actually predates the Shards. It is at least theorized, and might even be said in-world (I'm not entirely certain) that the reason for the Ideals is to limit the Surgebinding, making it safe to use. Additionally, Brandon confirmed that the humans come from Ashyn, and even though Ashyn is... apocalyptic, it still exists, and has not been reduced to dust. Could be a case of unreliable narrator - it wouldn't be beyond Brandon to do so. That said, I'm not sold either way, I think both the "it's Surgebinding" and "it's Voidbinding" got good arguments and I don't think we can say anything for certain yet. I would argue this is an argument against Dustbringers destroying the world, as the Diagram - no matter what Mr T and others do in the name of it - is designed to save Roshar. ---- As for your point on the Recreance, you are actually contradicting yourself here, because on one hand you argue that the Radiants specifically targeted ashspren, but on the other hand you argue that they did not know what the dangerous powers were, and therefore they killed all their spren. We also have a special "Voidbinding chart", which denotes 10 different powers, so it seems unlikely there is only one kind of Voidbinding. Additionally, I find it weird that ashspren would so... well, dangerous, as, just like other spren, they've been made by Adonalsium and modified by Honor and Cultivation.- 12 replies
