  1. They get posted in the dead doc when the Cycle begins. There's more that goes into it that has been discussed with the IM, but I'd prefer to keep those details vague. Discussion about this puts me in an awkward position because I'd like to reduce your ability to meta-game or appear to influence my decisions. So look over there! It's a vote count! Very Important Vote Count: Wiz (2): Danex, Mat
  2. Rollover times are pre-determined and uninfluenced by player activity
  3. Cycle Two: Focus Image heavy writeup: Unrestricted Investigative member of The Press The Unknown Novel was killed by the Polaroid Gang. JNV was followed in the Snapshot under suspicion of murder, but they were an honest Unrestricted Informed member of The Press. The votes were: JNV (5): Devo, Shining, Wiz, Mark Mat (2): Conq, Dannnex Wiz (1): Mat Danex (1): JNV Devo (1): Xino Additional notes: Rules clarification: The exe and NK occur simultaneously. Inactivity warning: @Tani, please come join us! Players remaining: This Cycle will run until between 4pm and 8pm EST on October 13th, with the earliest closing time being around 47 hours from now.
  4. Surprise! This cycle is now over. Please stop posting and PMing while I work to get the next round up.
  5. Feel free to @ me if I've recorded your vote incorrectly. And please remember to green out your unvotes, it makes it easier to get an accurate vote count.
  6. There's just over 26 to 30 hours left in the cycle!
  7. There's two types of actions, primary and secondary. Your options for a secondary action: -Coin search -Elim kill Your options for a primary action: -Coin search -Use your role The PM rule only affects primary actions. Primary actions can only affect primary actions. So the elim kill can't be roleblocked, scanned, or blocked by the PM rule. By the way, if you are blocked because you got unlucky with the PM rule, it'd be indistinguishable from someone using their role to block you in terms of the information that'd be sent out in GM PMs. A Watchful observing you would see that no one targeted you though.
  8. MR60 Cycle One: Zoom In “We’re being sued by God?” “God’s lawyers, technically. He has yet to appear in court.” “For what?” “In protest of our proposed merger.” “What’s He claiming as damages? You can’t create or destroy matter, so even after we combine these universes, His total holdings will go from all of everything to the same amount of everything. It’ll just be moved around a little.” “He’s arguing that we’re jeopardizing his future earnings. Our realms were divided so their movie rights could be optioned individually.” “So what’s our play here?” “We could probably argue that as His creation, the judge is biased.” “Why haven’t you done that?” “Technically He’s allowed to file in any area where either you or He resides, which is anywhere. Our only break is that out of all of infinity, He elected to charge us in a convenient jurisdiction. We need to win this here, Hannah.” “You have a plan, don’t you.” “Insanity defence. Specifically, you achieve immunity by saying you are a fictional character.” “Is that even a real thing?” “The Complainant has written texts that mention the syndrome explicitly, which should be enough to work with.” “All it takes is for me to say I’m not real?” “More than that. You have to believe it. You have to be it. A fictional person, in a fictional world. Our combined universe, fully realized! You’ll get to experience it first-hand. You can even keep writing if you want.” “If that’s what it takes. I’ll do it.” * Moe Larr has been killed by the Polaroid Gang! He was an NPC, but he’s still worth avenging! Welcome to MR60! I'm your GM, and Araris is our IM. PMs are open (with restrictions), there’s no vote minimum, and ties are broken by RNG. Please vote for the Public Reckoning in bolded red, and unvote in bolded green. Remember to submit your actions before rollover, which will be between 4:00pm EST and 8:00pm EST on October 11th. Everyone should have received their GM PMs by now, so please tell me if you haven’t. The player list is: Lastly, here's the link to the rules document: MR60 Rules. Clarifications will be compiled there. Let the fun begin!
  9. Attention players: this game will be delayed by one day. It was originally announced that the game would begin on (Saturday) October 8th. This was a mistake on my part as I had intended to start on (Sunday) October 9th. I am correcting that error now, and apologize for the mistake. Signups will still close on October 8th at 10am EST, but the game will not begin until 10am EST on October 9th. You may receive your GM PM before then, but you may not begin PMing, doc discussions, or posting until the thread is posted. Again, the game will now begin when the first Cycle is posted, at 10am EST on October 9th. Edit: signups are closed
  10. If it becomes relevant, how's your availability to be a pinch hitter? I'd forgotten about all that. This error will be patched by the opening writeup.
  11. This information will only be given out in GM PMs, to scanners, and upon a player’s death. There may also be duplicates with different restrictions. For example, the game may have all three of an Even, Odd, and unrestricted Investigative role.
  12. Stick, that was some beautiful playing. Congratulations to you and the rest of the elims. Thanks for running this, GM, IM!
  13. That's a valid concern. Best case scenario is that people avoid saying when their ideal rollover times are, especially more than a cycle in advance. I'll talk to my IM about this to try and ensure it's impartial.
  14. It's a Reckonersverse novella, but it's the equivalent of an Agents of Shield story within Marvel's Avengers universe. But I'm cool with Epic PCs. You retain the ability if it doesn't activate. So if it's blocked, the target isn't attacked, or the target dies to another means beforehand (exed before they're NKed), you keep the ability. If two people protect the same target and only one is needed, I'd probably only have one person lose their power. The only valid reason I can think of to use it is if you want to get to exactly 25 posts because you have a complete set of coins, but players come up with crazy plans all the time and I want to negate the need to spam my inbox if they do. :D. Sure! That reminds me I was going to invite @The Bookwyrm and @That1Cellist if they'd like to spectate or play. GM discretion. If I struggle with choosing a time impartially, it may be decided randomly, but that isn't the plan to start with. I'll put the designated end time in the spec doc at the start of each cycle.
  15. MR60: Overexposure (A Snapshot Game) “Best way to catch someone is to not let them know they’re being chased.” - Brandon Sanderson, Snapshot But where's the fun in that? Welcome to MR60! I’m your GM, @Archer, and our IM is @Araris Valerian. This game features variable rollover times, two action slots, roles that might only work during even/odd numbered Cycles, and PM limits. I encourage you to sign up as a type of reporter to help flavour your roleplay. Sign-ups are open until 10:00am EST on October 8th [2:00pm GMT]. Cycle One will run from 10:00am EST October 9th to between 4:00pm EST and 8:00pm EST on October 11th. Cycle Two will run from the completion of rollover until between 4:00pm and 8:00pm on October 13th. Cycle Three will run from the completion of rollover until between 4:00pm and 8:00pm on October 15th. Cycle Four will run from the completion of rollover until between 4:00pm and 8:00pm on October 17th. Cycle Five will run from the completion of rollover until between 4:00pm and 8:00pm on October 19th. etc. Please note that these times reflect the delay of the game that was announced on October 6th. The game does not start on the 8th, it starts on the 9th. Rules Only this doc will be regularly updated with rules clarifications. The following copy of the rules should not be assumed to be up to date. Framing and Factions Voting and Rollovers Actions Roles and OOA Private Messaging Participant List Quick Links
  16. Rood. :P. I can demonstrate my vote manip ability, but I'd rather not risk a tie. I'm going to assume the final vote ends on either Turtle or TUN, and intentionally vote somewhere where it won't accidentally create a tie. Please just ensure your final wagon is 3 votes or more, not including Turtle's. I won't fight my exe by voting because a tie is worse than me dying, but can someone remind me, who is my alleged teammate here and why am I better than a TUN kill? Solo!me needs to get 3 mixes off you guys to win, which gives you time to make mistakes. If I prove my role, I'm cleared of being the e!protector. If not, you kill me. Either of the confessed protection role players are better targets here based on their greater likelihood of having done it, and my offer to be killed next round if there's no manip should clear things up. Turtle Stick
  17. I just don't think Ashbringer is up to date enough on the current meta to make a team that's perfectly balanced by player ability. So we're assuming Archer-Turtle are not e-e. We're also going to assume that TUN, myself, and Stick have unknown abilities, because they haven't been proven. If I'm a solo elim with the best power (killing), I can exe Turtle, NK Wiz and Mat, then it's me vs Stick, TUN, and Sil. Say I dupe you into killing TUN, the NK takes out Stick, and it's 1:1 so e!I win, barring villager vote manip. If e!me only has vote manipulation, I go to me+1 vs Stick, TUN, and Sil-1, which is 2v2, giving me the chance to NK someone for free, leading to me vs Stick and TUN, which is an elim loss. You can essentially replace e!TUN with me for those scenarios, but the question becomes, who protected v!Turtle if we have those powers? It doesn't work out, so we must have burned our protection ability, which means we don't have the kill we need to win from only two mixes. We'd need three. But what if we're teammates! I'll make this useful to myself by assuming TUN and Turtle are evil together. e!Turtle protected themselves, then e!TUN has a kill up their sleeve. If we exe me, then they NK Mat and Wiz, it becomes Sil and Stick vs TUN and Turtle for the elim win. If TUN only has vote manip, it goes exe Archer, NK Mat, then Wiz, Sil, Stick-1 lose to TUN and Turtle+1, resulting in a mix, then NK for an elim win. But perhaps it's TUN and I who are evil buddies. Mix Turtle, NK Mat. If I have vote manip, it goes Sil, Stick, Wiz-1 to TUN, me+1, for a mix, then NK for the elim win. So there's a chance that two elims win together off of a misplay this round. But if you assume Turtle and I aren't teammates, I need a buddy. That person has to be TUN, unless you want to bring Mat or Stick into the fold by disregarding their previous thread activity. Turtle and TUN are also potential teammates. So technically, exing TUN today covers ourselves for the possibility of a four person elim team, because they're the common denominator. Exing me does not, because it allows the Turtle-TUN team to walk free. And as a reminder, solo!e!me can't win because I have to have had and used a protection ability on Turtle. My vote's staying on Turtle because I think it's unlikely that it's anything but just e!Turtle, but you're welcome to pile on TUN if you're risk adverse. TUN, you know that you're not evil, so you should vote Turtle. I know I'm not evil, so I'm double voting Turtle, knowing the only possibilities are Turtle and TUN, or a doomed-anyway solo elim who can be exed later if I'm wrong. That gives us a vote of 3 to 4, if everyone else votes for TUN. So exing TUN is doable! You just need to do more convincing, Stick.
  18. If you believe I'm a vote manip with a teammate, why not let v!Turtle die? The votes would fall along 2e+1:4v-1, which is a tie, assuming full participation. The exe is then wasted, leading to 2e:3v to work against. Protecting v!Turtle positions them to be exed, which brings us to 2e:3v, then 2e:2v. That's actually a better outcome, you're right. Stick does have a point that solo!Turtle has lost anyway so hedging isn't an awful idea. I question their assessment of JNV and Xino's experience, since they've both played enough games that I think Ashbriger would trust their competence. But if the elims protected Turtle, and e!I randomly decided to admit to being a vote manip in the round I planned to secretly use it to win, it'd be bad. But to get there, you need to name the e!protection role. It has to be TUN or Stick. Or me lying, and it's my partner with the vote manip.... But may I direct your attention to this obvious lie? Too much explanation and it is immediately defensive when they're supposed to be confused and surprised to be alive.
  19. If I gets down to me, I've got my variable rollover time game ready to go. I sent it to the committee a while ago, but I don't think it got officially approved
  20. That's okay, I'll double vote them to make up for your non participation. Specifically, I'm hedging for the possibility of a non protection role Turtle flip, which implicates whoever has that role. As I will demonstrate, I'm actually a vote manip.
  21. Scenario 1. E!Turtle is lying about having burned their protection and so they decided to self protect. Scenario 2. There's only one Elim, Turtle, but they were protected by a villager. The villager should claim, because you want to help the team understand what's going on. Scenario 3. Village Turtle was protected by a villager. Again, please claim. Scenario 4. Village Turtle was protected by an elim seeking to mislead us. That's a tactically dubious move because it saves a villager, wastes their ability to protect themselves, and a WGG would give more village cred. Scenario 5. Two elims, neither being Turtle. Again, tactically dubious, so I'll dismiss the idea. Scenario 6. E!Turtle and one other Elim. One of them protected Turtle. Valid move on their part, but this gives us an Elim distro of kill and protect and rolescan and a fourth option, which is excessive, considering 10:4 goes 8:4, 5:4 and at that point the village isn't going to be united enough to win in practice, despite the majority. Only way I see this being in play is if we have proof Turtle used their protection and get no villager claims to have made a block. Therefore, the only reasonable scenario was that e!Turtle protected themselves. (If you want to be extra paranoid, we could go through the options for who might have been an Elim teammate with a spare protection ability, based on proven ability uses so far and rolescans. Someone is welcome to compile a list of what proof we have of who has what role, if they're so inclined and want to prepare for a non protection role Turtle flip, or a surprise deployment of Scenario 4) Turtle Edit: I made the mistake of assuming that everyone was working with full information and acting efficiently. There's a world where v!TUN got confused and protected v!Turtle. But if TUN says they didn't protect them, one of those two must be evil.
  22. Huh. That's a totally unnecessary fake claim for e!Sil to make. I wasn't planning to mention this until after the Night round, because information given away now benefits the elims and we could, you know, just wait until tomorrow. Anyway, I am not a coinshot. The plan was to force e!Turtle into the position of needing to negotiate with me to avoid their death, which would be elim-indicative. Or if they embraced it, probably village indicative. I wanted a read either way. Alternatively, I was thought saying I was about to be village cleared for taking a Night action would lead a crafty non-Turtle-elim towards NKing me, because I'd be a problem later while being less likely that Mat or Wiz to recieve protection. None of that worked out. But now that you've gone and claimed, Sil, we're in a tricky spot. One, you're a prime kill target because you have a villagery role and unilateral kill power. A smart elim will kill you to avoid getting sniped. A very smart elim will leave you alive because they need the mis-kill to have a chance. But you're on their radar now for sure. Two, please don't assume 2 living elims are left. Maybe this leads you to guess an elim protection role, but it's not 3 village coinshots to 1 elim coinshot. Sorry for the confusion. I'm getting villagery vibes from the two claimers this round (three if you count Mat), so my shortlist is now Turtle, Stick. I'll add myself to the suspect pool because as Stick pointed out, JNV could have submitted the kill. So we're looking at something like: NK: Sil. Coinshot: Turtle Exe: Stick NK: Wiz Exe: Me NK: Mat Exe: tied for e!TUN or e!Kas to win. Not bad. Edit: I haven't RPed yet. Uhhh AarChur was having indigestion problems. "Bleh!" they said, blobbily.
  23. Curse this game for not being mechanically solvable! This also raises the possibility of e!TUN shooting and protecting themselves at the same time, but their offer negates that possibility - although the tradeoff was for what was assumed to be a village clear anyway. I'd much rather have TUN burn his kill protection blocking an NK, ideally late in the game when the number of targets is lower, which makes the likelihood of a block higher. Particularly if it doesn't clear anyone if we cancel each other out. 7-1, 6-1, 4-1, eg 3-1, 1-1, is still three chances though. But a successful block gives a villager clear, which helps us out.
  24. Which blessing was that? And why are you admitting to it Also, overthinking isn't always the best strat. Just putting it out there. :D. I have thoughts about using powers tonight, but I'll leave the IKYK to play out untouched when it comes to the NK. But if anyone has a provable action they'd like to use to prove they aren't NKing, be my guest. Any objections to me using Potency on Turtle? Gives us a free clear (of myself) if I'm wrong, wins us the game if I'm right. I think the net benefits work or either way.
  25. There's eight villagers and one elim left. Here's how the kills might go: -exe Illwei -NK Wiz -exe TUN -NK Mat -exe Turtle -NK Kas -exe Stick -NK me for e!Sil wins. If an NK is blocked at any point, this will actually lead to trying the NK again before the round becomes a 1 v 1. Ties kill no one, so they'll succeed on the subsequent NK, barring vote manip. So we need to kill the elim within our next three attempts. Most people seem to have an elim shortlist of that length or shorter, and the differences between how their deaths should be prioritized are slight. So I don't think we should argue each kill excessively. My votes will stand, essentially in deference to the majority who are more up to date on the game.
