  1. How do you guys manage to match so much people without repeating?
  2. Though, from what I undersand not all games will be compatible. So even if they choose Hajimari for that feature it probably would be a while before it gets added to the list, no? I'm not that well informed about the new generation.
  3. Honestly, I have no idea. It's incredible how they're harder to find than the original versions.
  4. I'm thinking about something. If things follow the usual pattern, we won't get Hajimari until around 2022. How viable will it be to release a ps4-exclusive game by the time ps5 will have already 2 years in the market?
  5. Finished Shin Megami Tensei IV. Never before had a game made me question my own choices as a human being so much. That freakin side quest about medicine will be hard to forget.
  6. I go mostly for vanilla ones, if you can call them that since that technically doesn't exist here, so maybe, the ones that look most vanilla at first glance? So, ChromxSumia (like, it's in the freaking opening), LissaxDonnel (most adorable confession so far), Gaius is with Olivia and it's working pretty well but I made note of pairing him with Sumia in a second run because pies. GregorxCherche I did as a wild card and what a surprise. I'm having trouble remembering all of them because it's been a while since I've played. I'm a bit stuck recruiting the children thanks to the lack of experience everyone got to make sure the children existed in the first place. What a paradox.
  7. People thinking about the skills and resulting units while pairing up people and here I am, thinking only about the shipping part. Thanks to that my understanding of skills is minimal if not null and most of my units are severely underleveled, but in exchange almost everyone has a partner now.
  8. Couldn't contain myself and started Dragon Quest VII right away even though I should be finishing other games. This game is So. Storming. Addictive. Everything is so intriguing, it's so exciting every time you visit a new town and seeing what's happening there. Battle system and music are basically like VIII's, which is a good thing, and the characters talk among themselves here for a change. Literally the only downside so far is that I can only play for a couple hours before running out of battery (that and lag, but, who cares). Kinda wish I had played this one first. It would have been a much better first impression of the series I think. Not that VIII was a bad first impression but, gosh, this one is just so good so far.
  9. Glad you're liking it! And you're on the slow part. Wait for the mind blows. The two biggest mind blows in this series are when the plot expands during your first game, and when you move on to another arc and find that you've seen nothing yet. (I'm like a broken record saying this stuff, aren't I?)
  10. Just finished Dragon Quest VIII. That was a really good game. I must confess I kinda rushed through it, and even so managed to get 56 hours. I'll probably play it again in the future going through everything I missed, it won't surprise me if it jumps to 80-100 hours then. The game is really good at what it tries to do. I found only one negative, kind of a big one though. There's an impressive lack of interaction between characters. There's things to compensate, you can talk to every party member whenever you want for example, and they say things pertaining the most recent thing you did. There's also the stories. I finally understand why everybody talked about "the stories" when talking about DQ. Every place you visit there's a couple new characters with a story to tell, linked to the main one, but standing on its own at the same time. They were really good, and some of them tragic. But still, when it came to the main story, in half the cutscenes the party members are as mute as the protagonist, and in the other half they don't even appear, even though supposedly they're present. I even saw them appear mid-cutscene once. Like, really, with such a colorful cast, I'd like to see them talking to each other from time to time. Worst of all is, they do, during the last 20 minutes of gameplay. It was awesome but it was brief. Why couldn't they be like that the rest of the game? A great game nonetheless though, makes me want to play the other games. I've been excited to play VII, I'll see how it compares.
  11. Yeah, that reminds me of something great that happened during my run of SC. I didn't use Olivier in all the game, but I wanted him to come during the final dungeon because stuff. Obviously I planned to level him up, but it wasn't necessary because after the first battle the guy got like 50 levels. It was beautiful.
  12. A thing about this series though, grinding is near impossible as long as you don't skip combat during dungeons or travels. Levels will come painfully slow once you're at the level you need. It's a nice feature because it gives more time for the plot.
  13. Sepith is what the quartz in your orbments are made from. I would advise you against selling it unless it's a real emergency. To get money though, since in this arc you're students with no income, sepith mass was introduced. That one you can sell safely in an orbal factory (in Trista you can find it at the Academy, left from the Student Union building). Also, it's there where the sepith will come in handy since there is where you make quartz.
  14. The others were introducing themselves, should Edwin do that too? Oh well. "I'm Edwin, welcome. I hope you like it here." Well, that was awkward. The cat, yet to be named, maybe affected by the strange journey to the house, finally jumped out of the backpack and onto the floor, and started walking around as if it already knew the place. "Err, well, I'm sure there's lots of stuff to explain, but I don't want to stay another second in bloody clothes." he said, gesturing to himself, then started walking towards his room with a final wave of his hand to the newcomers. Was that rude? He hoped not. He would apologize later if necessary but right now he needed a shower.
  15. Technically? No. You would miss character development for the NPCs though. One of the selling points of the series is that each NPC, no matter how unimportant, has enough dialogue throughout the game to make a story solely focused on them. There are some NPCs that have their own stories spanning multiple arcs even. But it's up to the player if they're interested in that or not. If that's not your cup of tea, you can just do the mandatory quests and wait for the next trip.
  16. Usually the game gives you the answer to all questions somewhere before the quiz. Also, well, umm you won't get to choose a club, Rean has special circumstances. You will get out of school. You spend some time doing stuff at the academy, and then you get to travel somewhere because Class VII is special and the plot advances. That would be the gameplay loop for this game in a nutshell.
  17. I don't really know, I had to stop playing because 10-minute loading screens is a little too much, but I made it to chapter 6 at around something over 70 hours. And I see what you mean, though I always associated it with Ay Dios, which makes it even more funny considering we're talking about a goddess. That's why I usually stick to the japanese name, Eidos. I think CS2 is still pretty similar to the first one since it uses the same engine, but I'd like to believe the animations get smoother there at least. The areas probably look the same though, I wouldn't expect them to redo them. The jump is in the third game.
  18. This was ps3. Falcom always seems to be a generation or two behind other developers when it comes to graphics. Trails in the Sky for example could be easily mistook for a psx game at first, but it came out in 2004. Cold Steel was their first full 3d game and it shows. From what I know, they use a new engine for CS3, CS4, and Hajimari, and I seem to remember reading somewhere that they have yet a new engine for the next arc, so things get better. Umm, what about Aidios? Speaking of that, don't we have tidbits of The 3rd that are yet to be explained? And we're getting another game like that. The amount of theorizing that is to come will be amazing, I can tell.
  19. It gets more fun when you get enough quartz for you to need to administer them. Though I have to say it was even better with the previous version of the system. It was up to the player to think things just a little and complete the game with that bare minimum, or spend hours planning the best orbment settings possible and have a party made out of demigods.
  20. Edwin saw the living room appear around them after that weird place. So that was the Cognitive Realm. It was so unreal. And so pretty. And the experience had been so... fun. If he proved himself, he would be able to visit it whenever he wanted. Just the thought gave him chills. "I didn't know you had that form. You almost looked like a normal person. Shininess apart of course." he said to Twin, who had decided to stand on his head as soon as they were back in the real world. Or rather, the physical world. "There are lots of things you don't know, you first ideal." she replied mockingly. He could tell she was smiling. "Ouch, that hurt. But you'll see. One day we'll be going to school every day like this." "Before that, you should say hello." Yes, I know. He wanted to say. He had been trying to avoid thinking about the fact that they were now simply standing among a group of people he didn't know. And they had been out only for a few hours. "Umm, hi." Edwin said to the new people, waving his hand a little.
  21. Just to be sure, you don't mean the random conversations that happen on dungeons and on the field, right? Because those do play for themselves and you can miss them if you enter a battle or something. But those get recorded somewhere on the menu. Actually, take this with a grain of salt but I think every conversation gets recorded on the menu. The one where you see quests, books and all that? There should be a tab in there for conversations, you could check that.
  22. Wait, so you mean conversations and stuff? That's... weird. I don't remember there being even an option for that to happen. Aside from certain dialogues that happen too quick and stuff like that. every single line should depend on you pressing the button as far as I'm aware.
  23. Oh, so you meant the clock in the menu. That's what I was confused about, I made the comment before you added Quistis to the list. I didn't know that happened in the ps4 versions. It probably wouldn't bother me since I'm already used to leave the game open while I get up and do other stuff, so my playtimes have always been slightly inaccurate to begin with. People seem to like Sara a lot. I like her but I've seen her archetype way too much and she's not among the best of those imo. Then again, there's still a lot of character to discover in the remaining three games so who knows.
