  1. I like them up to the fourth Oath, but the Fifth made me nervous that this would end up being the Syl Thread 2.0. Please don't do that to this thread. so far, though, it is still a good discussion. I just realized that people in general might blame Virusspren for viruses, just like they blame Rotspren for rot. also, if the Internet is a place on the Cognitive Realm, then there would be a massive spren city there.
  2. yes, I suppose there would be... other Spren that shouldn't exist. which is why someone would create a second Nightblood computer: they would awaken a computer with "Destroy Evil" and those spren would no longer exist, because whatever created those spren that shouldn't exist, won't. and the entire Internet will be as nice a place as the Shard. (if only...)
  3. I'm not sure if this is where I should post it, and if it should be somewhere else, notify one of the admins so it goes where it should be. now that that's out of the way: if the Cognitive Realm were real, everything on the internet would exist in the cognitive realm, because the internet is really just a bunch of ideas floating around as data. because the internet is really just a bunch of ideas, and a lot of people interact with it, the internet would be an incredibly large source of Spren, including: Websitespren, Userspren, Postspren, Memespren, Topicspren, Threadspren, WoBspren, Upvotespren, and others. (autocorrect does not like any of those, so I stopped listing them.) The implications of this would be huge: Thread necros would actually be bringing a dead Threadspren back to life, We might be able to change our personal Userspren's appearance by changing our Profile picture, the Postspren would be happier when you give them Upvotespren... everything would be so different. In addition, there might be a single, large Spren that would form as a result: The Internetspren, which would probably be large enough to become a higher spren, and possibly form a Radiant bond with. feel free to: use some of the Spren names as a Username, come up with more Spren that would exist on the Internet, and create Radiant oaths for any varieties of the Spren, I'm interested to see where this goes.
  4. when you hit Ctrl+Tab to open a new tab and are dissapointed that it opens a blank tab rather than the 17th shard.
  5. how much investiture would it take to get an investiture quantum computer running? is it possible to change something in the cognitive realm by programming computers to perceive it in a certain way? if they were sentient computers, could it work? note: if anyone does ask these, do not ask them both at the same event.
  6. and now, we have over 100, but I'm still going through them all. and, as while I'm posting:
  7. but I thought Devotion Splintered!... oh, wait. you mean lowercase devotion. when you capitalize words like Shard, Splinter, Ruin, Intent, Connection, etc. but not the beginning of sentences.
  8. when, in a discussion in English about Theseus's Ship, you first make a parallel about how the ship is a sunrise, it isn't a moment, but an event. then when we fast forward 700 years, and we talk about a thief stealing and replacing parts of the ship, and at what point it is no longer the same ship. I said that it wasn't the same ship because now it's purpose is to sit in a museum, instead of being the vehicle for this great journey. then I realized that I was making Cognitive Identity comparisons. when you see this: (not sure which one would load, so I did it 2 different ways to find out.) and you think "whoa, the stormwall!... I should probably get inside." and when you want so badly to be in a dnd group with mistborn rules, but don't know enough sandefans to make it happen.
  9. hey, everyone! yes, I know that this post is a necro.* but, since I started this thread, I hope that it's ok. I got confirmation about this (kind of) from Brandon at the most recent signing! so, the answer is kind of.
  10. "if you're going to propose to someone, don't pee in the snow to do it." "Can you go half a day in real life without randomly swinging swords at invisible llamas in your house?" "I have a son? and he makes happy wheels levels? how did I not know about this?" "I'm going to pretend that I didn't pretend to hear that." "witchcraft! the Cheese is witchcraft!" "As I'm about to strike down the last human being, he asks "why would you do this?" And I'll respond "Because my brother was making some really annoying noises with a pen one time." "I've successfully done nothing." "it's just a thin excuse for murder hobo-ing." "the best superhero ever: Mr. Environmenty McEnvironmentPants" "Sometimes stupid is right. I hope nobody ever quotes me on that."
  11. "Don’t worry," I whispered over the line, "I’m an expert on stupid.""You’re...""Like, I can spot stupidity, because I know it so well. The way an exterminator knows bugs really well, and can spot where they’ve been? I’m like that. A stupidinator.""Never say that word again," Prof said.” this was my first thought when I saw "never say that again. also, Reckoners
  12. when your friend says "you disappeared for a minute there" and you respond "It's called Elsecalling." when you and your friend get RAFO'd at a signing and afterwards you're discussing the look on Brandon's face when he RAFO'd you, and you have a good laugh at maybe it's "oh no! they weren't supposed to figure this out for at least a year! I need to accelerate my writing!" (if only....)
  13. that might have been me, I only discovered these threads (parts 1 and 2) and decided to start at the beginning and read it all, giving upvotes to posts like they were recent... You know you're a sanderfan when you start all the way back at part one of this thread, since july or so, and have almost finished catching up. and when you discover something that people used to do on the shard to hide text: it's called making the text white. the way to reveal it is to highlight the posts. it's really fun. especially because everyone wasted a lot of time looking for the hidden text.
  14. I really hope this works:
  15. when your friend calls their computer a 'puter, and the only thing you hear is the Allomantic metal. when, at lunch, one of your friends asks another friend "why are you here?" and you respond with "Personally, I think lunch should come before Philosophy." when you help a confused person trying to find book 1 of any of Brandon's books at the library, since the school year just started and they are all checked out except for Rithmatist. (even though it is technically a media center, it is a library. Not only are the jackets of the hardcover versions of Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians taped to the books, if you try to see the map by opening up the book and pulling the jacket back, they covered the map with a piece of paper taped over it! those librarians are definitely evil.) when you wish you had access to almost any of Brandon's magic systems, because it would make life so much easier. when you hear about this in a class and your first thought is about a Coinshot trying to plug things in from a distance. (also, someone who I met in that class is also a sanderfan, and cosmere-aware. we had a big discussion on how long it would take a Coinshot to actually get it into the plug. I said it would be easy, he'd just have to line up the plug's blue lines with the outlet's blue lines...) when you have all of this new material for this thread, but you can't help but feeling you still forgot something... edit: what happened to the picture!? maybe if i put it in a spoiler...
  16. when your very first thought is "But Shardblades are cooler!!! why would you want a lightsaber if you could have a shardblade?"
  17. probably not, because the midichlorians are physical in nature.
  18. when you're asking your friends about how they will get somewhere, and your friend who works for Brandon says that he can just walk from Cosmere, and you DEMAND to know where the perpendicularity is before you realize he means where he works Sorry about not giving all that much information about what he does for Brandon, I'll ask him next time I see him. Also, in addition to picking up other habits from Alcatraz, I've picked up some habits that were around a while back in the shard, and I've also learned how to use footnotes!*
  19. it's a standard-ish broadsword. You know you're a sanderfan when you want more information than that. But seriously, I'm not sure exactly what he does, I haven't asked him yet, although, I did check to see if he could answer questions like "if there were an evil smell in the air, would drawing nightblood get rid of the smell?" he does have the ability to get me cool pins and stuff, though. Wait, what? you're still here? Wow, you really are a sanderfan. (sorry, starting to pick up bad habits from Alcatraz...)
  20. when you have a panic attack when you can't remember what kind of sword Nightblood is, and you immediately send a text to your friend who works for Brandon to find out.
  21. I'm not sure if this has been stated or even noticed, but I was thinking about glyphs on Roshar, and I noticed that Adonalsium could possibly be related to the glyph Adoda, meaning light. (the reason this is in the OB spoiler board is because the first I had heard about the glyph Adoda was the naming of Adolin) Because I was thinking of Glyphpairs, I thought that Adonalsium might be a Glyphpair, or even a triplet of glyphs (not sure what the word would be for that) with -ium at the end. really, this is just a thought, but if anyone wants to add or tear down this idea, feel free.(but personally, I'd rather be of Cultivation than of Ruin.) sorry if this seems a bit scattered, but whenever i went back to change something in a sentence, it would highlight letters instead of just having that little black bar, so I couldn't add words without carving holes in the sentence, if someone knows why this is happening or how to fix it, please help. sorry if this seems a bit scattered, but whenever i went back to change something in a sentence, it would highlight letters instead of just having that little black bar, so I couldn't add words without carving holes in the sentencelike thisone knows why this is happening or how to fix it, please help.
  22. how could it not be? at very least, it is Connected... also, the black mist that seeps from Nightblood makes me think of Ruin's black mist...
  23. when your little cousin, who is only four years old asks you to tell a story, and you immediately want to tell her the story "The Girl Who Looked Up." when you are using cosmere swears and end up creating a sentence that starts "Who in the name of You do you think you are..." and realize you just swore three times in six words...
  24. so, basically, is the collective consciousness of a Sleepless based in the Spiritual Realm or the Cognitive Realm? I have no idea....
  25. when you see a vague wall of dust coming from miles away, and once it hits, there is rain (not heavy rain, because I live in Utah) and wind that starts blowing the grill around in your yard, and you saw it as a highstorm the entire time.
