I guess I need to do a better job following directions ...

I'm not sure. I was thinking that Windows might have an easy way to connect to other Windows machines, but not necessarily other operating systems.

I'm still sad that Hulu had to take down all their Classic Who episodes a few years ago. I was almost done rewatching the 4th Doctor Speaking of the 4th Doctor, I have a copy of the scarf (sadly, I did not knit it myself), and I bought a matching collar and leash set for my dog so she can cosplay as K9. Getting back on topic: I'm an ISFJ, and I'm pleased to see how many INFPs are on here! I'm dating an INFP, so I think you all are awesome

Mystery Project in Sanderson's Status Bar
anna replied to Exalted's topic in General Brandon Discussion
That would be fun, assuming he's found a way to talk to Pratchett's Cognitive Shadow -
My guess would be people who just want to run it as a headless web / database server, but don't want to use Linux for some reason (interoperability with other computers, probably?)

Linus is still working on the kernel, but I've heard he doesn't write much code these days. He usually handles git pull requests and the release process instead. He keep showing up to the various Linux conferences, so I'm guessing he doesn't hate us too much

That's correct, it just has to be compiled for ARM. Mine all run Arch, and I've heard you can even install Windows on them *shudder*

I think so. The RPi foundation puts out a Raspbian Lite without the UI stuff, so you could install something else on top of that.

Dragonsteel chapter(s)
anna replied to Steeldancer's topic in Sanderson Curiosities & Unpublished Works
What are the chances that Jerick is involved in the shattering? Would he take up one of the shards? -
A Song of Ice and Fire has an interesting place for me. I'm interested in the story, and knowing how everything plays out but at the same time the books take a huge amount of energy for me to read. It took me almost a year to get through the third one because I kept reading other books between chapters. The interesting thing about halloumi is that it's soaked in brine, so it's essentially a pickled cheese. If you're up for experimenting, you might also enjoy brine-packed mozzerella or feta

I'm an Archlinux / XFCE user. I like having the freedom to configure everything my way from the start, and xfce is lightweight enough that it gets out of my way and doesn't hog too many resources (which is less of an issue now that I'm no longer trying to use a raspberry pi as a desktop)

I'm an upstream developer (and one of the NFS filesystem maintainers), so all my code goes directly to Linus Torvalds before trickling down into the distros.

My shiny new Pixel 2 just arrived yesterday I'm upgrading from a 2013 Nexus, so the new phone is definitely a step up

I prefer over, but my cats are unspoolers so sometimes I have to switch

It just means there is more meat in the world for me

I have a vegan friend! The vegan cheeses I've made for her mostly using cashews, although it does have those other ingredients mixed in. Usually it takes a couple of days to ferment before flavoring ingredients are added and it's put into the form to dry. Unfortunately, soy milk doesn't have the same protein structure as dairy milk so it doesn't coagulate the same way. The closest you can get is soy yogurt

I came here to say that I sort-of like the Star Wars prequels, but apparently that's a fairly common opinion! If you're still not convinced, try them in Machete Order (4, 5, 2, 3, 6, 7)

I'm not sure Odium. Un-splintering Honor would make for a plot thread, but I'm not sure it could take up 5 books by itself. Odium is one of the big-bads of the Cosmere, and we would have to have a Greater-Scope Villain for the second arc to feel satisfying. My prediction instead is that the front half will end with Odium sending down his campion, and winning. He might even splinter Cultivation while he's at it, just to add to the cliffhanger. Odium will still be bound to Roshar, but he'll take over and become ruler of the planet. The back 5 could then focus on unsplintering Honor as a plot to overthrow Odium, with the likely side effect of unleashing him on the rest of the Cosmere.

Linux kernel developer here. I promise you that we're not collecting data and sending it to giant corporations Other thoughts: Web browsers have "do not track" options these days. Check your settings and turn them on! Viruses sometimes hide themselves in online advertisements, so running something like Adblock Plus could be another layer of security. Check for webpages using https in the address bar when they ask you to log in. It's more secure than http. Only install software from trusted sources, like app stores or package managers.

Isn't "Topaz" a known alias of Hoid? If so, then Jerick sees an illusion of him in the second chapter -
I'm looking forward to these, too. We're almost at the stretch goal!

Is It Right For Dead Shardblades To Be Wielded?
anna replied to Stormrunner1730's topic in Stormlight Archive
Like a lot of things in our world, I think the answer is "it depends". If the wielder is trying to live up to the ideals of the Radiant who initially made the sword, then why not? But if that person is trying to work against what the Radiant's stood for then it might be wrong. -
It makes sense to me that bonding Nightblood might grant some abilities, but I don't see why Nightblood would grant Surgebinding. Wouldn't it be more likely to grant the ability to Awaken things with Stormlight? Note: I'm pretty sure I'm a moral relativist

Good luck! I wish I could read that many books from a series in a row without burning out

My theory: Brandon is being misleading here. I think she has a hemalurgic spike made out of sugar!
