  1. Way of Kings - I took sometime because I didn't like Kaladin's plot at and still by far the most boring Stormlight Arc for me. In other hand Shallan and Dalinar were great, combined with the intriguing interludes and an awesome world building were what keep me going. I was only learning english too I think, so it took me something over 2 months to finish everything.

Words of Radiance - 3 to 4 weeks, my english wasn't good yet, but it was improving. Plot wise it's way more dynamic and linear than Way of Kings, which helps to make experience more engaging, and the interludes were even better (Lift, Rysn, etc)

Oathbringer - Around one week. I was reading over 10 chapters a day, spending from 3 to 5 hours every day reading because I was truly obsessed

So apparently we just talk to heralds now...

    take day trips to Ameia

    ohh time for a perpendicularity...

so much given in 1 chapter.

Kind of scares me, for how big the scope is getting so quickly!!

This really gives me the (refreshing) feeling each SA arc will be a complete arc. The secrets has been progressively uncovered, and power levels are fasting scaling. I didn't expect a fight like that in the first SA arc, but I'm grateful that Sanderson is giving it to us. Waiting over 10 years for the second arc to see a "true" Desolation war would be really frustrating

Third Ideal might be the bar. At least it is for the Skybreakers, but then Jasnah uses Shardplate as the mark of a full Radiant.

I really think he meant second ideal. To Windrunners you need a Honorspren to bond before swearing to protect those who can't defend themselves

The airship landed in chapter 3 for people to get on - I doubt it will take off again until they're done unless they need to run. Also in ch7 Kal told Lift to take the fabrial to Navani implying that she's on the ground at the moment i.e. the air ship is still there.

As an extra point to consider Brandon said the below on reddit which IMO implies that we should expect these early events to happen rapidly and conclude BUT to involve more of other characters - minimally expecting some more Shallan action to be interspersed:

Personally, I liked it a lot. Remember me Mistborn 3

I'm actually not sure any the last statement, although I agree with the rest. In TWoK, Hoid says "I've come to your land to chase an old aquaintance, but I end up spending most of my time hiding from him instead". I think Hoid might not like Rayse, and might be working against him, but I don't think Hoid is Rayse's greatest enemy.

Interlude's Hoid letters suggest Hoid is working against Rayse. But you got a point, Rayse might be Hoid's biggest enemy

I still not seeing how is Hoid supposed to cheer and specifically looking for a girl who is doomed to be a Odium's champion. I guess is actually quite the opposite

If anything by bet for an Odium's champion would be Renarin. He was arbitrarily cited as an important role by the Diagram, in the middle of a conversation between Odium and Taravangian. I don’t think it was there purposeless

@IcaroRibeiroI think being able to summon stormlight would be very useful in one on one combat.  Your opponent would tire out but you wouldn't.

@Watchcry I'm discussing the soulcasting at a distance on Discord.  I may have been mistaken in thinking that was a resonance.  Also I have angered the wobbot.

It don't answer my question. Summon stormlight for what purpose? Storlight is a incredible fuel, Bondsmiths powers aren't for combat

  7. 10 minutes ago, ConfusedCow said:

Bondsmith (14 =  6 + 8*) - I'm treating the resonance (+8) as the ability to summon infinite stormlight. I'm not evaluating Dalinars personal skill in combat or the bondsmith's other abilities.

What is the point in summoning stormlight to use a surge that is not even suited for battle? Bondsmiths are arguably the weakest order in combat. They don't even wear a blade, their powers are from a different nature compared to warlike orders

  8. Is there any confirmation dead shards (blade or plate) glow by their original orders colors? Like Elsecallers blade will glowing teal and Willshapers glowing purple

Sanderson don't particularly emphasis on radiants blades color description, only on their shape

  9. I will understand power as proficiency in surge-binding, not exactly who would "win" a direct battle

As for Outhbringer, Shallan was the most powerful one. Girl drove off an Unmade, she's a wonderful surgebinder and the fact she bonded while a child only make it even greater. Her Lightweaving is crazy powerful, and the fact she lowkey already have her Plate (though seems that only Radiant has access to it)

Jasnah is a tough call. Her Soulcasting is just as mindblowing as Shallan Lightweaving, and unlike Shallan (who is mostly a unskillful soulcaster) Jasnah is already average elsecalling, she can transport herself into and out Shadesmar. I just don't give her the crown yet as I don't know what words she spoke exactly. Radiants progress is about personal growth, and we don't know how well is Jasnah doing this. From her unreleased chapter in Words of Radiance transporting herself into shadesmar looks like it was her first time, I don't know

As for RoW, I believe Dalinar have mastered his Bondsmith powers, if it's really the case, then he's the most powerful one. He literally opened a perpendicularity, and:

    Spoiler

can access/touch in spiritual realm to some degree

So, if I have to make a shot:

    1) Dalinar

    2) Shallan

    3) Jasnah

And what made Pattern attracted to her in the first place? We can only speculate, which I won't do here. I expect Sanderson to come up with something we never would have imagined. I only wish to imagine what all this must have done to a small child. She was nine when she killed her mother, wasn't she?

    She was eleven

  11. Her next truth and probably last ideal (I'm terrified, I've killed dad, I've kill mom and let dad take the blame) is something about the nature of her powers

She was speaking ideas and light-weaving since her childhood. It's not exactly expected for children to make Nahel Bond

The are things about her family we don't know yet. Hoid seems specially interested on her since always. There must be something important about her for Hoid find her since her childhood. Pattern said he choose her family because of their lies. Which lies?

And she knows that, probably her mom told her so

  12. I think there must be misconception here. This is what amazon synopsis reported:

    Quote

At the same time that Kaladin Stormblessed must come to grips with his changing role within the Knights Radiant, his Windrunners face their own problem: As more and more deadly enemy Fused awaken to wage war, no more honorspren are willing to bond with humans to increase the number of Radiants.

The currently bonded honorspren are probably younger ones, born after the recriance. The most of Honorspren were born before recriance, including the ones who have bonded before, and they still don't trust humankind and are afraid to help in this Desolation

It might not really be a reflection of Kaladin's (or anyone) mistakes

  13. I always thought Shallan 4th/5th truth as something about her present self that she can't handle yet

Like the fact she is an actual ghostblood and enjoy not having a proper allegiance

She's my favorite character, but I'm quite done with her past. It's not nice, narratively speaking, to have her past presented the second book only to keep a very big detail missing (a detail that seems more important to her than the fact she actually kills her mom)

Whatever she's refusing to accept, I'm really hopping us to discover as soon as possible

  14. SA5 writing will start on January 2022, according to himself:

Unless he delays the start of his writing It will be released in late 2023, I'm sure of this. He has the story completely outlined already, he spent a good time of ROW specifically creating a plot to only develop in the SA5. If anything I won't be surprised if this will be the book the writes the fastest

These are the books he's planning to release in the break from the SA arcs:

    - Elantris trilogy
    - Mistborn third trilogy
    - Nightblood

I'm actually thinking Elantris trilogy is the hardest here. Elantris is his first cosmere work and is almost 20 years old. Sel is a main system with the least information and worldbulding, but still a focus point of cosmere, he needs to spend some time here. I won't be surprised if he releases 3 and not 2 Elantris sequels

Mistborn third trilogy is already a working in progress. Second quadrilogy was make to help him with worldbuilding and to "test" the ideas of the third trilogy. I'm sure in a matter of 4 ou 5 years he will finish the trilogy for good.

So with that in mind, there is not way for Nightblood come out before 2030. It can take as long as 2035, because I have a slightly filling he will release something either a standalone novel or whatever, about other shardworlds during the break of SA arcs 1 and 2. In reality Nightblood look very attached with SA arc 2, so I won't be surprised if it ends being the book released immediately before SA arc 2

    Makes sense.

    What are these orders?

    Cool! or maybe you :)

    What is this?

Elsecallers is Janah's order. They bind Inkspren and can use the surges of transportation and transformation

We don't have any stonewards in the history, but they are Talenel's order and can use cohesion and Tension. We suspect/theorize their spren are the Peakspren mentioned by Syl in her interlude

  16. Amaran is awful, but also lowkey pathetic. It's hard to give him the crown

Moash is not a good person, but I don't know, I hate him but he feels much more a victim of circumstances and byproduct of society than anything else

Sadeas is bad, but he looks so honesty in his evilness that almost looks almost comic

Gavillar looks a perfect villain of a fiction series. Unlike the other 3 who are either coward, enduring or humorous this one hit me as straight fearsome. So far he's the only character in Stormlight that really spooky me

But so far, the one who has the more loose morals and total lack of ethics are Sadeas and Amaran, I'll vote for Sadeas cause he's a son of a slontze
