  1. This guy had my exactly thoughts about Gavilar:

    Quote

Book 1 prologue: “Who is Gavilar?”
Book 2 prologue: “Oh no, Gavilar died!”
Book 3 prologue: “Gavilar died… Maybe that’s a good thing?”
    Book 4 prologue: “Good riddance.”

Book 5: GO SZETH! GO! KILL HIM!  STAB HIM AGAIN!

  2. Something that is REALLY interesting in Navani prologue is this:

    Quote

No. Don’t let his lies become your truth. Fight it. Teeth gritted, she opened her eyes and began rummaging in her desk for some oil paint and paper.

Gavilar was kinda Gaslighting her for some time. To make her feel guilty and grew distant from him. This is because, unlike the other Kohlins, Navani seemed to never had worshipped him, nor followed him blindly. Even Jasnah was prone to stupidity close to her father, but not Navani, Navani saw him a great men, but only a men. So Gavilar never could use her as a puppet, which probably infuriates him and makes him to don't feel the need to "disguise" himself next to her

Look at how she asked Navani to tell Jasnah something he didn't wanted to share himself, to keep Jasnah in good therms with him:

    Quote

“Speak to your daughter,” Gavilar said, turning toward the door. “I believe I have managed to soothe Amaram’s pride. He might take her back, and her time is running out. Few other suitors will consider her; I’ll likely need to pay half the kingdom to get rid of the girl if she denies Meridas again.”

There is no way for this man to be pretending to protect her. From this Navani's chapter it's clear he was doing this for a while.

Now the next point, is his behaviour being affected by Odium influence? Totally, but I'm not buying it. For once Odium don't choose men by chance, Gavillar was obsessed with greatness and this was severely affecting his judgment, both moral and rational, which lead to his dreadful death after confronted Eshonai with the truths about what he was planning. If this was Odium influence, why would Odium wants to delay the return of the fused and voidspren that Gavilar was, apparently, plotting?

  3. I'm sure we will know more about Aesudan and Gavilar during this book

Gavilar's POV is the next and last in the prologue of his murderer 7 years ago. It's similar too how things were painted for Eshonai, we had some secrets about her and follow her events in Words of Radiance until the point we finally read what she saw, hear and did in the night in SA3

I'm guessing this is will be the same here

My guesses (or rather my wishes tbh)

Group 1: Navani, Venli and Kaladin (main POV), Rlain (minor POV)
    Group 2: Shallan, Adolin, Renarin
    Group 3: Dalinar, Jasnah

    Interlude Character: Moash

Group 1 will focus in the war in eastern Roshar specially but not only Alethkar, with Kaladin and Navani together at start and Venli and Rlain joining the group further

Group 2 will have Shallan, Adolin and Renarin will look for the Unmade whatever it takes place, Shallan will further act as a double agent. They are bringing Renarin because of his Spren that is related with Sja-nat. That's why their arc is narrowed focused, they won't even appear in the book climax for what it seems. I bet their arc in a cliffhanger after part 4 and only be back in SA5

Group 3 will have Dalinar and Jasnah, take place mainly in Urithiru (and cities connected by Oathgates) and it's probably going to be about politics and getting some Oathgates back, with the focus on western Roshar such as Rira, Iri and Babatharnam. Szeth will advace for not look for Shinovar yet

Moash is the antagonist POV we have in each book. He's narrative is very important to see Odium's side of the Book and will complement Group 1 arc

So based on part 1 the POV characters are:

    - Kaladin
    - Shallan
    - Navani
    - Venli
    - Lirin

As group 3 are POV only in parts 3 and 5, those are our current options based on the historically possible POV characters throughout the story so far:

    - Dalinar
    - Szeth
    - Jasnah
    - Adolin

In my opinion, the chapters published today strongly support my prediction. Though I'm changing Jasnah as the character grouped alongside with Dalinar, I'll bet in Dalinar and Szeth as group 3 POV characters

Group 2 main character are Shallan and someone (probably Adolin, as Renarin will wait until the 2nd SA arc)

And Group 1 characters are Venli, Navani, Kaladin and yes I still believing in Rlain. Why? Because it's an arc focused in two things:

    - The Singers and Humanity aliance.

    - Discovery of fabrials as tools to make humanity stood a chance against Odium army

Kaladin is the human who befriended the singers, and Navani is the queen mother of Roshar strongest human nation, however I still believe in Venli as the truly main character in this book, with Navani being the second most important character

  5. This is an interesting ethic debate

I would say most of spren doesn't have sapience and consciousness. There is a high change of animals, just like there is a high change of animals. Even a vegan wouldn't agree that all animals feel the same way and has the rights for integrity, there is a clear speciesism (generally derivated from cultural aspects) in the way humans treat animals

For Spren I guess it's the same. "Higher" spren wouldn't be treated in the same way of lesser spren because of their awareness, their cognitive presence

  6. Since this thread was created some things changed

First I now I'm REALLY interested in Dustbringers and Truthwatchers

Second I'm suspecting Elsecallers worlds are entirely personal, just like Lightweavers. Lightweavers moto is to find their own truth, while Elsecallers chase to be the best version of themselves. If this get confirmed I would say both would still my favorite orders

Seems unfortunate that 4 of my 5 favorite orders are saved for the second half of Stormlight (Elsecallers, Truthwatchers, Edgdancers and Dustrbingers)

Yep. Chapter 1 was in the November newsletter, and something new will be sent today.

@Gderu, the new newsletter hasn't been sent, but you are supposed to get the most recent one when you sign up. Did you get the confirmation email?

    It is a Syl's interlude

I believe that that is the full chapter, which has been in the most recent newsletter since November.

Oh, you might be right. I was thinking the later half of the chapter (as we already have the first half)

    But maybe it's something new

  9. Dalinar was decided to accept a surrender if Listeners wanted to

In reality all highprinces were fighting for gemnstones at that point, they wanted wealth not vengeance and I doubt any of them would complain if listeners stopped to disturb their hunting

If Listeners surrender and leave Narak they would pass unscathed, though I wonder how many Alethi were prone to slave them like they did with the parshmen. It was for sure the Shattared Pains would be attached to Alenkar and Listeners wouldn't ever be free again

Windrunners - scouts and ambush squads. One of them is the King, who lead the army and nation, creates the strategy.

Bondsmiths - Spiritual Leader, Pope, Shaman, the one who unites the people, tells them the words of wisdom and advices the King.

One Windrunner and one Bondsmith create classic Warlord+Shaman duo. I think Jezrien and Ishar were those.

Truthwatchers - scientists, researchers and providers of the information.

Elsecallers - tacticians and supply providers.

    Dustbringers - firepower.

    Stonewardens - ground troops.

Edgedancers - medics and health care providers.

Willshapers - provide infrastructure: communication, transportation and logistics.

Lightweavers - spies and people of art and culture.

Edgedancers - judicial system and police.

I agree with you, but might add:

    - Ligthweavers were also supply providers

     Truthwatchers also physicians

    -  I'm assuming Elsecallers were diplomats as well though I'm not aware about the extension of their physical transportation

    - Dustbringers were somewhat linked with Willshapers to work as sappers in constructions, roads, etc

  11. I think it's very hard for people find their own concept of justice, that's why Skybreakers swore to follow something else

Skybreakers aren't likely to follow their own loose concept of moral, they need time to mature and most of them will just never reach it

I understand people must find this pretty stale, it is indeed, but seems a acceptable path for me. They don't trust and believe not even in themselves and progress to fourth ideal only when they find a better individual guidance

If it helps the discussion... I'm INFJ and almost tied between Windrunner and Edgedancer with Bondsmith right behind.

Edgedancers are my favorite and the one I would want to join. I feel like Bondsmith is similar but instead of small picture they look big. If it was forced on an INFJ they would probably thrive as Bondsmith but would be more comfortable with the Edgedancers.

Windrunners are interesting... I could be happy in that order but I'm not much into fighting.

Depending on life experiences I think an INFJ could be happy as a Truthwatcher, Willshaper or even a Skybreaker (last one would be hard, but if they picked a good code that allowed for lots of compassion they would be fine).

You sure you are an INFJ? INFJ aren't very likely to be Edgedancers or Windrunners. I agree with Bondsmiths though, I actually can see Ishar as an INFJ

INFJ is the most uncommon and misunderstood type. Like, Dumbledore is a INFJ and people generally thought of him as wise and extremely benevolent, forgetting he was also a quite a manipulative machiavellian guy.

What set INTJ and INFJ apart is basically how they use their reasoning, INTJ are more likely to use its great ideas in careful planning, self improvement and some goals they have in life. While INFJ are more likely to use its vast knowledge for a more humanistic subjects, such as help the people who lives around them (family, friends, etc). Thanks for their easy going and sympathetic (sympathetic, not empathetic) behaviour INFJ are seem as "cool guys" while INTJ are seeing as cold even though both shares so many traits.

Taravangian in his average stage (neither a genius heartless monster, neither a emotional moron) is a typical INFJ. He's wise, diligent and selfless, generally pursuing something he believes to be a greater good for his own people (since he's a king, he sees all Kharbranth as his family), his  people respect him for showing sympathy with people who are in lower positions like when he shares his surgeons to poor people. He also has a deep understanding of interpersonal relationships which they can be use in plans and schemes that's why he can manipulate everyone around him, Jasnah, Szeth, Dalinar, he tried even with Odium
