  1. #ModProblems
  2. I would say yes but the Connection would need to be stored by someone who could already use Alleymatics for something and would only work for that thing. You would also need a lot of Connection. So compounding at a minimum. Essentially: Possible but not practical.
  3. See that would be a compelling contradiction. But as pointed out there is confirmation that I am not in any way affiliated with the DA so I can't be part of their Department of Evil Twins. Best regards, Sudiov (Definitely not an evil twin, spy or secret Hemalurgist)
  4. Yeah that darn Sudiov. He'd be such a thorn in our side if he ever managed to join with TUBA, let's just hope that they don't let him in or we're all done for.
  5. Also, I agree with this sentiment.
  6. Hi everyone, Sudiov here again. Just wanted to drop by and see if you've reconsidered at all about letting me in. I know there were some concerns that I might secretly be the head of the DA or something but I've come up with what I consider a pretty compelling counterpoint. So there you go. QED. I will accept a written apology and letter of acceptance into TUBA at whatever time is most convenient. Regards, Sudiov (Definitely not associated with the Dark Alley)
  7. Just wanting to make an official statement here for a moment: Sudiov is definitely not the head of the DA and is not affiliated with the DA in any way.
  8. About to reply to loc, Laurelai was interrupted when the area erupted in chaos. A swarm of Mistbeavers appeared, seeming to attack some of the guests at the party, though strangely they also seemed to be completely ignoring others. But rather than stick around and find out which group she would be in, she began to run with the others who were fleeing the area. Only to have to stop suddenly as one of the Mistbeavers seemed to overtake them all and stare at them menacingly, spike in one hand, it looked them all over. It locked eyes with her and for an instant she felt sure that the next thing she would feel would be a metallic spike stabbing into her. Wait. Metallic spikes? These must be Hemalurgic. Hemalurgy, one of the only ways outside of Forging that one could alter the Spiritweb directly. It was a lot less clean than Forgery was, a lot easier to get wrong and more disastrous when it did go wrong. But it also allowed for stable and near-permanent changes to the spiritweb of a living creature. She hesitated. Just long enough that she saw a blur of silver flying in her direction, and then into the guest next to her. A young Ghostblood that had been near to her when the duel had started. The Mistbeaver then scurried away, seeking other prey. Voices echoed throughout the grounds, blaming each other, explaining the situation, and cursing by turns. But it seemed that simply telling these beavers that you didn't want to be spiked would be enough to stop them. I wonder if the reverse is true. She wasn't sure what had prompted the thought, but for some reason she couldn't quite shake it. There were accomplished Hemalurgists here, and if they were to be believed, accepting one of these spikes would allow them to join the Dark Alley, if ever there was an opportunity to find out who she was and how to change it, this was it. One of the beavers stopped nearby, checking on the collapsed body of the Ghostblood that had been spiked. It seemed to be double checking the pulse and administering a small surge of healing to help ensure he survived. "Excuse me." Laurelai asked tentatively. The beaver looked up at her, its round, brown eyes seemed to be kindly if one didn't see the small metal spikes in their pupils. "Would it be possible for me to have one of those too?" The beaver seemed to consider this for a moment, tilting its head and looking her over. Then it turned back, looking towards the man who had suddenly appeared and unleashed this chaos. It seemed to raise an eyebrow in question, and having seemed to receive an answer of some kind, looked again towards Laurelai. Faster than she could even see it closed the short distance between them, she felt a sudden sharp pain in one shoulder as a spike accurately pierced one of her bindpoints, she felt the sudden presence of something that wasn't her in her mind, in her soul itself. But suddenly, everything made a lot more sense. She was Laurelai, denizen of the Dark Alley.
  9. I get it, but my point is that even if the ghosts beat everything else in the cosmere single handedly, if the Shards, etc. beat the tolkien pantheon then they would insta kill the ghosts. The only battle that matters is which pantheon wins, because they could then just clear up the rest of the battle instantly.
  10. Thought that was going to be one of the hatchlings or a previous trial run?
  11. Still becomes a bit redundant when the fight includes Shards, Adonalsium, GB, Valar, Eru, etc. Because whoever wins between a Balrog and a Chasmfiend or a Shade and a ghost won't matter in the slightest once one of the pantheons wins. Because they just insta-kill everyone else on the opposing side.
  12. The Phoenix has yet to make its reappearance after the war.
  13. Her continued watching hadn't given her any new insights yet, but Laurelai was patient, listening to those nearby, watching those further away. Some few she gathered had their own Boon and Bane from the Nightwatcher, those she payed the closest attention to, trying to find some similarity with what her own reasons had been. "Hello Laurel" A voice whispered in her ear suddenly. "Long time no see?" She whirled about, turning to see the figure and almost twisting her ankle in the process. She almost reached for the small knife she still carried with her, but most people here would barely consider her an annoyance if she used that. This room was filled with powerful people. As she examined the man before her, she quickly placed him as someone she'd met at the Waystop. It had been right after she'd arrived back to find those things destroying the entire area. But while she remembered him, she didn't recall a name. Had he given one last time and she'd forgotten? Names weren't usually that important for her, experiences and her decisions were what she memorized obsessively. She realized that she was just staring at him and stammered out an apology. "Sorry, I didn't see you there. I hope you've faired well since then?" She asked. Just then, the music in the hall stopped and one of the musicians spoke to the crowd, informing them of a duel that was to happen in the gardens. She doubted there was much she could learn about herself from a duel, but she had made leaps of logic from stranger sources of inspiration. "Care to join me?" She asked the man, motioning her head towards the gardens where a few other guests had also begun heading.
  14. Eventually the greasy substance vanished from the floor as though it had never been, allowing Laurelai and a few of the less coordinated guests nearby to pick themselves up off the ground. She gave an uneasy and slightly apologetic smile to an elderly man whose eyes caught hers, but years of incidents like this had trained her not to feel too embarrassed by the affair. She headed to one side of the room where a few healers had gathered, tending to the minor wounds of anyone who couldn't heal themselves. But it seemed everyone was being taken care of without the need for her to risk anything worse happening. She stayed nearby in case her help would be needed, but otherwise simply watched the other guests of the party as they all split into their own groups, conversing and speculating at what had been going on. She was close, so close to finally having a working stamp. Hopefully this party would give her the final piece of insight that she needed. Why did I seek the Old Magic?
  15. It very much depends on the audience. A more traditional 'adventurers party' might be willing to just accept a quest as a premise and run with it, RP here is very reactive and location and time are both very fluid constructs. There have been very few cases of an actual quest being issued and then followed through by a character without deviation. We also have a bit of an issue in that we have almost no fleshed out NPCs, so if you don't establish a setting with a player character then there is no one for any other characters to interact with.
  16. Alert the nearest government authorities that you have discovered a hostile alien life form attempting to masquerade as a human.
  17. As one of the mods in the subforum I assume @Archer may have been asking the purpose so that we can include it in summaries, guides, etc. Or possibly so that it could be merged to another thread if needed (You clarified that it's a separate quest so that's not needed but you never know) And as a suggestion: If you want more players to be involved you probably want to establish a starting scene, if I wanted to join this quest as it stands at the moment I have no idea where I would put my character, who would be around them or what their surroundings would be.
  18. If there was enough interest in it.
  19. I also thought that's what it would do. I fear the wrath of the admins too muxh to try it.
  20. As the main body caught fire, several other people also rushed in to combat the creature. Cutting it to pieces, burning it with powers of their own. Some retreated back to a safe distance or seemed to be waiting the combat out. Just then, Laurelai felt a familiar surge of Investiture from within. Suddenly she lost her footing, slipping and falling onto the ground with a soft thunk. Her hand slid along the floor as well, feeling the thin sheen of grease that now covered the floor. Well that's not the worst thing that could have happened. She thought, watching as a few other guests also tripped and slid across the now slick flooring of the ballroom.
  21. Just as she was about to be introduced, Laurelai watched as an enormous serpentine creature of some kind burst out from underneath the floor. She ducked behind a nearby pillar, taking shelter as people began to yell around her. It seemed that there were plenty of people eager to take this thing down but the first to get a hit in was a woman who seemed to fly across the room, dropping a match onto the creature only for it to be stopped as one tendril spun apart from the main body and snagged the match from the air. Awakening? Not like any normal Awakening that I've seen before. The tendril that had split apart caught fire, separating itself from the rest of the body before the flame could spread. Well, I have always wanted to try something with fire. Laurelai mused wryly. She leaned out from behind the pillar, taking in the full scene before her before focusing in on the fire that had begun burning through the tendril. Ordinarily the chances of Forgery working on fire were non-existent, you couldn't stamp something that was amorphous. But Laurelai needed no stamp in order to forge something. She had been there the moment this fire was created, she already knew its history. And she knew that fire liked to spread. It took only a moment for her to rewrite history. The ropes had never managed to separate, they hadn't noticed the fire in time. Suddenly the main body of the creature caught fire as well, already burning just as much as the loose tendril was.
  22. Laurelai entered the room, having arrived at the ball through a gap in her narrator's standards.
  23. A burst of movement caught the corner of Impacts vision as she watched the other Epic for a response. Keeping her eyes on the Epic, she tilted her head towards the movement slightly, trying to catch it in her periphery vision. A figure with tangled blonde hair ran towards them, the stumbling gait of their run triggering a wave of memories. Her head snapped towards the figure in an instant. Megan? How the sparks did she get here? Her mind whirled with suspicions, plans, reactions. Should she use Megan's assistance with this Epic? No, I don't need her help anymore. I've managed on my own since the Dalles. I've survived, killed, thrived since then. I don't need my sister Megan's help. I don't even need the Epic MV's help. As the darkness within her swelled to a peak, all light around her was extinguished from the world. Allison turned in her direction as she ran, briefly their eyes connected with each other as Megan smiled towards her sister. And then nearly stopped when she saw the cold, icy gaze that was returned to her. She saw eyes that were almost identical to her own twist into something much different and for a moment she felt a lurch of fear in her stomach. What has happened to her? And then the world went dark, even the brief, cold view of her sister vanishing from sight. She stumbled in the darkness, losing her footing and sliding to the ground, instinctively she halted her own momentum and then that of some of the surrounding air, lashing out blindly in an attempt to protect herself.
  24. A figure sat, staring at an opaque wall of light that stood before it. Contemplating. A long time had passed, or was it only an instant? Hard to tell in here, this sealed sphere was completely cut off from the rest of the world. Only the regular, heavy thuds of an immense creature patrolling behind the figure gave any indication of the passing time. Suddenly the figure shot up, eyes ablaze with excitement and realization. "If the problem was that I used 100% of my strength to make this so breaking it is impossible, then there's an easy solution." Voidus exclaimed. "I just need to use more than 100% of my strength now!" He sank into a low crouch, centering his body. One clenched fist rested at his side as his muscles tensed in preparation. The air itself seemed to become noticeably heavier, even the creature that walked behind him seemed to stop and watch what was about to unfold. The area was filled with a thick silence. "Plus.... ULTRA!" The silence was broken by the sudden shout as the fist flew forward at a speed no eye could follow, slamming into the wall of light that stood before it. An explosion of air burst out, collecting dust, dirt, stone and debris, then flinging it away from the figure. There was another moment of silence and stillness before finally, the wall... Remained exactly as it was. "Oh. Right." Voidus said as he observed the futility of his efforts. "Using more than 100% is impossible. Forgot about that. Must make a note to fix that when I get out." He sat down in front of the wall again. Contemplating.
