I'd definitely recommend Elantris, it's a good book but given it was his first published work the writing quality isn't as polished as Mistborn or Sotrmlight after that I'd definitely recommend Warbreaker because it's awesome. Welcome to the 17th Shard!

I don't know about that though, presumably mental illusionists powers still work on Epics so it does somewhat follow that mind control would too, perhaps the mind controlled Epic wouldn't be able to use their powers due to interference I suppose. Deathpoint obviously expected his powers to work too, although that's noticeably affecting an Epics body not their mind I suppose.

Yeah I think it was also partly for power-balancing reasons. In the case of possession being able to use the powers of any Epic you encounter is pretty OP. But I do agree that it may be a bit less important now. We have a GM for just this reason, if someone does something to someone else's character without permission Twi can settle the dispute. Not sure about some abilities though, like with Bioterror and other characters with an insta-kill ability.

Sounds cool, I have a possession Epic too, although he doesn't automatically shift when he dies and his body disappears while he's possessing someone/something (He usually possesses animals not people)

Yeah my claimed and unclaimed lists are in dire need of an update, I'll try to fix it once I'm done editing the OP.

Yeah I was hoping to do that eventually, it's easier to move it all around once it's all in one post than when I have to keep scrolling though. If anyone wanted to submit summaries for their characters that'd make me feel a lot better about it.

As much as I can, I suppose I could just stick to just the faction leaders but again I don't think that'd really convey the state of the city very well. Basically anyone with more than one PoV would be included ideally along with some of the more important backstory Epics (Mobius and Koschei for example)

I guess I just feel uncomfortable summing characters up like that when everyone's done such a great job of fleshing them out into such detailed characters. Probably what I'll end up doing though, starting yet another thread seems a little extreme.

Yeah I didn't know either, but given that I'm putting an entire page worth of character bio's into one post I suppose it was inevitable.

The Investiture-Challenged Awareness Society
Voidus replied to skaa's topic in Social Groups, Clans, & Guilds
Just removing the spikes in most cases, even in someone with enough spikes to need a Linchpin to co-ordinate them only the linchpin spike is lethal to remove. That said, no. We won't. Because Hemalurgy is awesome. Keeping powers that would otherwise be lost to the cosmere after 1 measly lifetime for all eternity, preserved in a piece of metal. It's far more moral that Fabrials. Enslaving sentient beings just so that you can have a little heat or making an elevator. -
Well Feruchemy doesn't really have much of a possible way to decay, Allomantic decay just results in you being able to use less Investiture from the gateway created by burning metals. Feruchemical power is just stored somewhere else, there's no extra power coming into the system so that power can't decay.

We do use google docs quite a bit, I just don't feel like it would be a good medium for providing a quick summary. I really prefer using spoiler tags to shorten a post into something manageable and easy to look through. I might just end up making another thread and split it into multiple posts in that. Then we can add the story summary afterwards too.

Thanks, fixed it. So I hit a bit of a problem, even with removing all of the original content of that post and trying to only post the bios of major characters I've still hit the character limit for posts. I thought about removing all of the backstory/appearance stuff from the Epics but that just leaves out so much detail that I don't feel it would do its job of providing information about the characters.

Second post of my own countless army of Epic ideas: Unclaimed Epics: Claimed Epics: Minor Epic Empire: Deceased Epics: Quickslide: Friction manipulator, liked sliding around on things, tragically murdered by an unstable necromancer and his pet dinosaur. Hammelin: Can summon and control mice and rats. Deceased Voidknight: Can create vacuums pulling everyone in an area into one point, wears full armour and uses a sword to make use of the clustered enemies. Deceased Voidus' Epics: Jeff/Purple Phoenix/Penumbra: SoulSwitch Scribbler StrongSteel Zip and Refill Impact & MV League of Shadows:

Having looked through the EoO thread again it is quite messy, I'm going to try to compile all of the main characters into a master list in the OP. I'll probably then move all of my Epics into a second post and update that list a bit too. Eventually I'll hopefully be able to split all of the characters into groups based on what faction they're in and which factions are in which town, since just knowing who owns that character is less useful for new players than knowing the structure of the city. While I'm cleaning it up though, Twi would you mind using your super-awesomtastic Mod powers to combine the multiple posts so that each player only has one post?

Yeah I'm happy for the gold transmutation to still exist, I'm pretty sure it was only mentioned in-book to keep some standard of currency available.

We're nearly done I think, shouldn't be long now. Well Bioterror would be more likely to approach the existing leadership and try to net himself a position there until he found out more about the other Epics in Astoria rather than attacking the city straight up. So that's a possibility. I'm pretty excited to write the Adventurer, I miss writing crazy!PurplePhoenix. He was a fun character.

New Epics both look good, welcome to the RP guys! Which is also the same dimension Sidestep uses, so he can go there and steal all their stuff
