  1. If she's absorbing kinetic energy to the atomic scale then the air would be cooled to absolute zero which would definitely freeze her. Well it'd have to be the earths crust if I were to use the earth, too much movement of magma in the core for that to be easily mapable, in reality it'd probably be a small select sample of the earths crust since that's all that's needed, say a piece directly below the object she's affecting of the same size as that object. Rough calculations should suffice for things like pressure changes, I don't think we need perfect mathematical models. Not sure what you mean by large and small scale not working, small scale is a part of large scale you can't really have one without the other. I think that if its travelling through air the charge would actually be equalized pretty quickly, positive ions created by the discharge would pick up the stray electrons. Even if not since it was no longer being controlled it would follow the normal path of electricity and discharge into the ground.

  5. And lo, having killed the hound of the night my mission to erradicate all evil from the world was fulfilled. And then I did sayeth unto the world. "And then Nighthound died" And the world did rejoice.
  6. Nighthound could.
  7. As someone who just overtook Brandon to make now the top 3 rep positions filled with ponies let me just say that I still have yet to actually watch an episode That said I'm sure when I finish the other 1000 or so episodes of various tv shows I'll get around to it and I do see why some people might like it, I enjoy reading 1000 page tomes and dissecting the magic systems, 800 page thrillers where I try to pick apart the plot, 500 page textbooks on calculus. After all of that, sometimes I just want to watch something that's not particularly high-brow or intellectually stimulating. Sometimes I'm just in the mood for some cartoon animals having a good time. This has been a post by a non-brony who for reasons unknown even to him has a pony picture for his profile. (Although to be fair I did photoshop spikes into the eyes of my original pony-dp to maintain my Dark Alley cred)
  8. Need a dog-hair cleaning superpower? The MEE has an Epic for that
  9. A method we can all get behind I think. How likely would it be for everyone in the MEE to get one? I could do around a hundred pug viewpoints that way
  10. So I just passed Brandons rep and it looks like Edge just passed Peters, the power of random insanity and the questions threads is indeed powerful.
  11. That doesn't show that they don't deflect upon entry, just that it still deflected upon exit.
  12. Still doesn't solve the issue with blood or nerve signals, the lightning bolt wouldn't be an object but if it hits something that is it becomes part of that object, electrons aren't really 'part' of an atom like that, in metals they're not really attached to any one atom at all they're in a free kind of flow.
  13. Not if there was a reference frame involved, it would just reduce the temperature to the temperature of the reference. So it would only stop momentum that is shared by everything in the body? I don't even know how to begin differentiating various momentums like that, for one it would allow people to move perfectly fine so she couldn't use her powers to stop people at all. In fact I think it would pretty much just work on momentum provided by gravity and perhaps not even then.
  14. That's less an issue with the electron problem than the reference frame. Not sure what you mean by differentiate, either she can affect electrons in which case she could stop lightning, or she can't in which case there's the lightning problem when she stops anything else. Whether the momentum from that electricity maps perfectly to other electrons is another question, my inclination would be that it doesn't so she wouldn't be able to redirect the lightning, just shift its momentum to something else.
  15. Transferring it from one place/object to another as long as she's touching one of them.
  16. I am now about to pass Brandon Sandersons rep. I am rather terrified.

  17. Welcome to the 17th shard! I hope you have fun here and that all goes well with your goal of getting published, there's some great subforums for getting feedback on writing here if you want to try it, or just check out some of what other fans have written. I second BenevolentTyrant's offer of cookies.
  18. Well the obvious other limitation is that then if she used the power on herself she'd electrocute herself too so it's a double edged sword in that regard. But yeah that was my thought too, I'm hoping to avoid MV killing people where possible and having her powers pretty much automatically murder anyone she uses them on would be somewhat difficult to deal with. (By the way, Edge sorry if I've massively misrepresented your points here, I think we've got some misunderstandings going on and I get the sense that I'm missing the points you've tried to raise so feel free to correct me if I'm misrepresenting your side)
  19. I'd love to see a more restricted version of MVs powerset, at the moment I'm really struggling to find a way to not make her the most OP character in the game, unfortunately most of the problems I'm having are how the power works with regards to people so you might be running into a few of the same problems Speaking of I may as well raise the issues here in case anyone else has some ideas, I've been talking to Edge in a PM about how best to limit MVs powerset and we've not really come to any good answers, everything seems to have its own set of problems. The question came up as to what would happen if MV used her abilities on a lightning bolt, since electricity is essentially the flow of electrons (Or more accurately the wavefront of a series of electrons but that's not particularly relevant) now my first thought was that she wouldn't even have time to target a lightning bolt in between it appearing and her dying so it's kind of a moot point but then I realized that the same problem applies if the lightning bolt strikes something she's already using her powers on (Say a wall of air in front of her) electrons have mass, albeit a very small amount and so have momentum so her powers should stop them and if her powers don't affect electron movement that presents its own problem since everything has electrons and if she froze all of something except its electrons the electrons would keep moving, generating a current and probably killing anyone she froze with her powers. So poll the first: Should she be able to stop lightning bolts?
  20. Synesthesia is still around...
  21. Would it surprise anyone to hear I have several? Jiggilicious was actually one of the first Epics I made outside of actual characters, she can make people sing and dance.
  22. I never put one on him, there's obviously the practical limit of the number of people alive to follow him but no there's no limit built into his power. Luckily he's about to die so we don't need to worry about an Epic with the strength of 10,000 people.
  23. New MEE post up: Wherin we learn that some Epics are sensible and others are not. But they're like really not.
  24. Synesthesia dropped her blanket of darkness, a faint hum in the air disappearing as she did so. The other Epics with her breathed a sigh of relief, glad to have gotten out alive. The attack had been going well, guards dropping like flies, walls collapsing, shouts of victory from the MEE forces. Then someone had reported that Refill had been killed. No one had been too surprised, he had shown his powers ability to kill people with a touch but he would have struggled against even a single guard with a gun if that was all he relied on. And he'd insisted on joining the fight personally, leaving the others to go on by himself. No his death had not been particularly surprising. What was surprising was the news of how it had happened, a woman in white severing his head from his body with a strip of cloth. The Epics of Thoughttown were back. News of group after group being killed came in, nearly a dozen were killed by the woman in white alone, the survivors had grouped together and fled under cover of Synesthesia's shield of darkness. "Rapid" Synesthesia said, turning to the minor speed Epic "Get back to the HQ, let everyone know what happened. The attack went well but enemy Epics showed up, Refill died along with at least a dozen others. Go!" The Epic nodded then sped off, becoming a blur in an instant. If he could actually fight at those speeds he might be useful, unfortunately he had none of the increased bone density necessary to withstand his speed, even the running caused him pain, actually hitting people caused him to break his hands. "Everyone else, take 5 we should be far enough out of their range that the Thoughttown Epics won't pursue, we'll make our way back once we're all more rested. I'll need three others to come with me to get the cars though, we can't walk all the way there." The others were barely listening. Sitting down and staring at their hands, catatonic. Rubbing both temples, Synesthesia sighed deeply. She was beginning to think the MEE had been a terrible idea. \ The MEE was an excellent idea. Collaborate thought, hurling a brick over two hundred meters to penetrate the skull of a soldier, he'd quickly realized that while tossing cars was certainly impressive they rolled too unpredictably and more importantly were not an unlimited resource. He'd need some if Corpsemaker actually came out. Ripping a car door off the body he used it as a shield, catching incoming bullets with the large piece of metal and charged forwards, knocking over a dozen soldiers to the ground for others to finish off, he grabbed one of the downed soldiers by the leg, hurling him into the air. The power was simply incomparable to anything he'd felt before, this freedom, he now knew how other strength Epics must feel, their abilities not limited like his. No, that's not right. He mused, punching through a nearby sternum. They're just as limited, they have a higher base level sure but what if I had a thousand people following me? Ten thousand? I could shatter the earth itself if I had enough followers. Grinning in delight, Collaborate roared his way through the dominion. Looking for his quarry. Looking for his death. Looking for Corpsemaker.
