  1. I think it was largely due to changing how weight worked behind the scenes, it's always been a weird trait.
  2. Koboldx (He's a weird person)
  3. Gold-creation doesn't exist canoncially. I would also be very interested to see why that would be your weakness.
  4. Well you could argue that compounded traits don't strictly count as tapping.
  5. Well I call Kobold King Kobold, Twilyghtsanssparkles Twi and Edgendancer Edge, most nicknames are just shortenings
  6. You didn't explain them, that's my point, just quote a previous post if you really think you did but I cannot honestly see how you might think you explained how any of them relate to the topic at hand. Again, please don't be rude, this is a polite discussion of disagreeing opinions we're not politicians trying to destroy each others' reputations or anything. We only know that as it applies to Elantrians, we have no idea what the Skaze do or how it might relate to the Dakhor, aside from which, not needing to bond doesn't mean they don't come into play, they're the splinters of the Shards we're talking about, of course what they do and are is relevant. Most workings might mean something else to you but to me it means almost all workings, which certainly includes the monks and magic, aside from which the politics in Fjordell are the monks. That quote says nothing about a system of dictatorship, it says that he worships Dominion. Capital 'D'. As in the Shard. As in, directly related to the issue we're discussing. He follows Dominion not the Dor, he instated the magic that is used, is the head of the order and has magic of his own from some source. It doesn't mean a certainty but it's an awful lot to just ignore for no reason. Sure, but then I will point out that personal motivations are irrelevant compared to literally worshipping the Shard Dominion. And that his motivations for doing something don't actually affect the magic in any way, literally dominating another person to destroy them and use them for power is something different. I'd question where you get your definition of Dominion and then point out that that similarity is shared by every single magic system that we know of. Science: A discpline that you have to be very devoted to to get very far, not that I think that matters I just question why you actually bring it up. Yeah, this is what we call a strawman argument, you don't get to argue for me then pretend you win. I have so far only told you that your quotes were irrelevant, not that they were wrong. Aside from which the behaviour of the Elantrians is irrelevant, Allomancers don't tend to preserve things, Awakeners are no more giving than anyone else, Hemalurgy can be used for positive reasons, the Shards intent affects how the magic is accessed it doesn't brainwash all who use it. I've said this before and I'm really sorry but putting in more work doesn't give you any better of an argument, it is the quality of that work and what it actually produces that affects this discussion. If it took me 10 hours to hunt down a quote that says that Devotion was splintered that doesn't mean that my argument is any better. That Devotion is splintered has nothing to do with this argument so how long that quote took me to find is irrelevant. I also feel like you're putting on a bit of a martyr complex here, no one is forcing you to spend hours doing anything that's your choice, if you could prove your point with a popular and well known piece of in-world information then that's what you should do. If a huge plot point of Elantris was discovering that Aons all came from the Dor then you don't need to find a hundred quotes on that, just state it, if I disagree I'll ask for clarification. Please find one post where I've said that, just because I am using well known points and don't need to quote them that doesn't mean they're backed up. If anything it means they're even more substantiated. Points you missed: Aona:Aon connection Aons being splinters of Devotion Wyrns forsight Wyrn worshipping Dominion Skaze influence
  7. Ok, a few points. 1. Since there is reasonable basis for the assumption (ie. when a feruchemical trait is tapped we have yet to see any boon that we know for certain is not stored when storing the metalmind) it's not simply 'since it doesn't say it doesn't happen therefore it does' it's 'we have reasonable evidence that it should happen and no evidence to the contrary' 2. A strawman is something different, it's where you suggest that you know what your opponents argument is and argue against that rather than argue against the actual argument. (For instance saying that someones argument is just "well it didn't explicitly say it doesn't happen so it must happen") 3. "I am the one making the effort to research the topic and provide information" Sorry to have to be harsh here but you don't get points for effort, simply pulling up random irrelevant quotes doesn't earn you winning points. And again, these are all well known facts, do you actually dispute that Steelrunning causes an increase in perception? Or that feruchemy doesn't give you something for nothing? Because I've made plenty of points that you could respond to but you seem to prefer instead simply arguing about who's putting in more work, which is irrelevant to the discussion at hand, it's a red herring (The term I think you were looking for when you used strawman before, but I can't be sure since that doesn't quite fit either) The quote Observer is talking about is from Bands which I' unfortunately lent out but since you really seem to be getting upset that people aren't quoting as much as you'd like I messaged a friend and we found it, the quote is (more or less) Bands spoilers
  8. Agreed: Replugs theory that it's alone Shard.
  9. It was either in a quote or one of the table, can't quite remember though. I'll try to dig it up. EDIT: Yeah it's in the table of allomantic metals. link.
  10. Nope, it just means you're one of us. *Starts chanting*
  11. While everyone else in Astoria is saving up to jointly by one that renders her mute.
  12. I could see Lucentia having one or two lying around but I think Corvallis is self-sufficient enough that they wouldn't really bother, they have a giant forcefield, limitless resources and perfect population happiness. I wouldn't even want the Carlisles to have them to be honest now that we've seen how rare they are but I've already worked it into their backstory too much, they'd be completely different characters if I retconned it. Still the time limit means it's unlikely to have any practical effects on the game.
  13. I'll be on it soon, I've had a bit of my writing time cut into working on a certain... other piece at the moment. Depends how the links work, if they transmit force instead of momentum then the gravity wouldn't cancel but if it was simply motion that was transferred then any two objects of any size would cancel perfectly (Ignoring air resistance for simplicity)
  14. *Pulls out spikes* Please, continue...
  15. It'll still be rationed carefully, one person who by all accounts only managed to pump out a few motivator based techs a year earned enough from it to fully staff a giant underground bunker with drones. So Epic tech is potentially possible if the story allows for it in a plausible way.
  16. They stole it from us.
  17. Not necessarily 1:1 you're right but your reflexes at least would need to be close to that to make actual running possible.
  18. Seconded, personally I find being called insane far less negative, we're all insane on some level or another. Though you could use neuro-atypical I suppose if insanity has too many negative connotations. Anyway for me it is very clear that Steris is different from other characters, but this difference is not a bad thing, not an illness to be cured or a problem to be solved, it's just a part of who she is. An awesome part of an even more awesome whole.
  19. Which is another point, it might be borderline sacrilegious to the southerners but you could just burn the bands themselves and store what you get in multiple metalminds.
  20. Not too bad but yeah, good point, I keep forgetting that we're still in spoiler time for SoS since Bands just came out.
  21. It's not concrete but I'd say it's pretty compelling until we get evidence to the contrary.
  22. Doesn't explain doing it specifically at Regalia's request, she wasn't being particularly destructive.
  23. When you compound you're essentially tapping and storing at the same time so it should work.
  24. Yeah down here toilets flush people and spiders eat snakes. Though on second thoughts it may have been caused by extreme hunger, lack of sleep and opiates.
