  1. Epic name: None Real name: Unknown Primary power: Mental distraction - a combination of the ability of grey men from the wheel of time and Kuroko from Kuroko's basket (If you've seen it). Essentially giving him the ability to distract the gaze of others and cause himself to never be noticed. Extremely alert and perceptive people can notice him if he's doing something he shouldn't so he couldn't just walk between two guards who are supposed to refuse entry to everyone or run at you with a knife but most of the time he's completely invisible and the second he steps into a crowd no one could spot him. Secondary power: Flesh manipulation - can manipulate any flesh he touches, deforming it as desired. Though he can't alter the properties of the flesh in any way. Tertiary power: Corpse possession - Can manipulate the flesh of one dead body without touching it, he can also extend his primary power to this body, causing it to go unnoticed so long as he's not using the power on himself but cannot use his secondary with it. His power puts some strain on the body and when he is finished with it they typically burst into an explosion of viscera. MO: Has killed in a dozen different ways, he typically avoids repetition, coming up with a new method of murder for each job. The only similarities between his victims are that someone else close to them typically vanishes at around the same time, a guard, servant, family member or a lower Epic. He conducts meetings by proxy, using a handily obtained corpse to speak for him while he simply sits unobserved nearby. Weakness: Popularity, more specifically having a large group of people all watching him. The more people who are specifically looking for him the weaker his ability to distract them becomes. If enough people notice him he loses his ability to manipulate flesh or corpses too.
  2. Already started working on one No reason there can't be more than one assassin in town though, Salem does attract Epics and Epics are the people most likely for other people to want assassinated.
  3. The physical manifestation of his spiritual Investiture.
  4. Mistborn era 4 is going to be scary enough even without that, with the discovery of medallions along with hemalurgy I wouldn't be surprised if everyone on the planet could be a compounder. So a planet full of Lord Rulers with the capability of interstellar travel.
  5. Pray to whatever little goblins make ovens work. Because there seems to be no logical reason why sometimes they destroy a perfectly good ham.
  6. I don't know if it would be common but yeah. It might just be any element and the spiritual changes its properties. Kind of hard to say. Aluminium perhaps?
  7. Seconded, diagon alley might be interesting but I'd say keep it out for now so the setting is more stable and we're not waiting on people all the time to advance the story from diagon alley to the station to the train to the school, etc. If it really gets off the ground a trip to Hogsmeade would be cool though.
  8. Cornucopia wandered through one of the city gardens, this one was designed for pleasure rather than practicality, it's location near to Rainmaker had meant she could garden properly here without having to worry about whether a branch would be strong enough to support a canister of fuel. Here she had simply been allowed to create. It was still nothing compared to the Arboretum but it was one of the little paradises she had created in the city proper, somewhere she could relax when circumstances kept her here. Rainmaker it seemed had retired some time ago, which meant anything requiring her attention directly wasn't likely to arise but with these attacks she just couldn't be sure. And if there was one thing she loathed it was finally getting comfortable in the arboretum only then to have to immediately leave again. A nearby rosebud seemed to wilt slightly as her emotions vented through her abilities but a quick glance at it restored it to proper blooming health. A rush of footsteps sounded behind her as someone ran forwards before skidding to a halt on the gravel path. "My lady-" A male voice began. She didn't even bother turning around, simply cutting him off while she continued tending the garden. "If you are here to simply give some news and leave then you can leave your information with someone else." She said. "Because the next person who interrupts me without a very good reason is going to find an elm tree where their larynx used to be." The messenger paused, not willing to speak but he also didn't retreat. She sighed as she continued to feel his presence tainting the garden. "Leave the message with my attendant." She said, gesturing to a more well-dressed servant nearby. "She'll decide if I need to bother with it yet." The feet snapped together briefly before walking towards her attendant and having a hushed conversation. Cornucopia looked up at the sky, wondering how long this day would drag on. She sighed again, a rustling of leaves throughout the garden seeming to echo the sentiment.
  9. Might need a timeframe to start, start the RP on the first school-day of the year?
  10. Well it's kind of got the perfect set up for it. Soulcaster is powerful enough to create a big stable area and attract a lot of people but too lazy to pay too close attention to what happens outside the arena, his attention is distracted which provides motivation and opportunity for other Epics to get up to all sorts of mischief. The arena is a distraction and also a pull to attract all kinds of Epics to involve in plots. I'm thinking something like having a weakness that forces them to work in relative obscurity to justify it.
  11. That sounds awesome. Setting up a kind of subterfuge based political story instead of Corvallis' more open political warfare. Kind of makes me want to make a thief/assasin Epic for Salem now though.
  12. Seconded, it'd be nice to see some more plot developing in Salem and Sentry's one of the few characters who could really drive a plot and pull some others into it too. Then there'd be the other plot of the murders which I do like so I'll have to pick out a few cannon fodder Epics to kill off.
  13. Yeah Mrs. Voidus and I would like to teach our children as much as we can about other faiths, I also recognize that I have a bit of a bias so I'm thinking I might ask for some help from friends so they can have other faiths beliefs explained to them without having it changed through my prejudices. Lots of people of varying faiths on the Shard so in a few years time I might even start a topic for it. (Alongside the several dozen topics on how best to teach them that Sanderson is clearly the best author of all time) That's kind of my problem, either you recognize that there is a clear distinction between fantasy and reality and acknowledge that the magic in harry potter is absolutely nothing like genuine wiccan beliefs or you think it's a realistic portrayl in which case... I mean honestly? They have freaking brooms and castles and actual magic, I would stop being an atheist in a second if I got to play quidditch. But if they genuinely worried that the latter is the case then it's clearly them who are unable to separate reality from fiction, what harm is there in letting a child say a bunch of latin words and waving around a stick? God isn't going to smite someone for childhood innocence and unless the spells actually end up working it's not likely going to change their religion. And again, if the spells do end up working then you get flying brooms so win-win.
  14. Relevant word of brandon: God metals are normal matter but they have a spiritual aspect too which is unlikely to be able to be produced in a supercollider. Investiture is finite and returns so it is conserved, and arguably experiences entropy through constructs like Nightblood.
  15. Just pieces of worldbuilding and occasionally some little hints that might have significance to us but not really to the average reader, there's nothing in there that you need to read to understand the plots.
  16. Moved to Secret History board, no need for spoiler tags here.
  17. I think BramFinem was only talking about getting a spike for a metal you already have feruchemical powers for, not for all feruchemical spikes.
  18. Or other kinds of symbiotic bonds, eg. Nightblood.
  19. So Chasmfiend and Chickenplague volunteered for GMing so far? Again I'm willing to help in any way I can and lend use of mod powers where needed but I don't know that I could accept full GMing.
  20. Because your faith isn't so flimsy that watching a cartoon is going to forever shake the foundations of your worldview, like most sane people. If your faith is so weak that a cartoon with ancestor worship in it could shake it then you have to question whether or not you actually have faith at all.
  21. I think it likely has more to do with the medium it's travelling through. Shooting out of a speed bubble means that the air on the outside is essentially 8x thicker than the air on the inside, it's like shooting into a pool of water. For the period where parts of the bullet are in that outside air but the bullet itself is still considered 'in' the bubble that would drastically alter its trajectory.
  22. One of many reasons I'm more inclined to think it has to do with surface than mass.
  23. Railroad tracks are segmented I believe so it would still work, and he'd still retain any other forward momentum he had.
  24. If you don't watch anything with objectionable content then you can't really watch much of anything. Pretty much every movie will have lying, stealing or violence in there somewhere, you can't just ignore things you don't like forever. Your parents confuse me.
  25. I was going to ask that too, I find the whole concept intrinsically confusing. I'm an atheist but I wouldn't ban my kids from watching anything just because there are religious characters in it.
