  1. I pretty much agree with all of this, but I am a bit hesitant about Cultivation. Until we get more information though, it could be either one, a combination of the two, or there could be 20 other things as well. With Sanderson, who knows?
  2. There are a couple different versions of some of the books, but there is a Michael Kramer version for every single book, I think.
  3. I don't see why it needs to be one way or the other in this specific scenario. It makes sense to me that it's within the power of a Shard to divest themselves at pretty much any time (provided that they aren't directly trapped like Ruin was), but that doesn't mean that it would be in their best interest. In the case of Odium though, if his desire to travel the Cosmere splintering Shards is connected to his Intent (I think most agree it is) it may actually be impossible for him to consider weakening himself by giving up any amount of his Investiture. We have a WoB that says all Shards were equal in power before they started investing planets and stuff, so if Odium were to give up any of his power, he wouldnt be strong enough to splinter any more Shards. This kinda ties in with many other theories that I've seen on here that suggest Odium is trapped at least partially by his own Intent, and the idea has always seemed likely to me.
  4. I sent you a PM so as not to drag the thread off topic.
  5. I don't know if I agree that they thought walking away would stop them from getting worse, it is a possibility though, as I think torture would make anyone go insane eventually. Although that would explain why Taln is more crazy now than all the others... And it would explain their decision to abandon the Oathpact and Taln in the first place... I've talked myself into it. I'm behind this one
  6. Hmm so this is how one survives being spiked.... I was wondering
  7. Yep, 16 per day, only learned that yesterday haha. The remastered ff12 for the ps4 is amazing, I was impressed at all the little stuff they went back and added.
  8. Haha I love that this is 100% accurate for either. I would have upvoted you, but I'm out for today... That's what I get for browsing the Shard at 4am.
  9. In addition to this, Brandon has said in WoBs before that the metal charts are in world constructs, and that the people who use the metallic arts don't completely understand them yet. Nice catch though, there are a couple other discrepancies that others have noticed on the chart as well.
  10. Wax and Wayne (normally spelled wane), in English, are terms for when something increases or decreases, usually the moon cycle. When someone says 'it waxes and wanes' in real life, they mean it goes up and down in a cycle. It's not even really a relevent pun, its just bad wordplay.
  11. I saw you say something similar in another thread on the topic, can you cite this WoB please? The only one in the other thread talks specifically about suppressing investiture, and everything else was just speculation. Edit: the other thread I was talking about, for reference.
  12. I didn't make these, but these are some cosmere memes I thought were funny enough that I saved them. Edit: Just realized that half of these have probably already been posted in here... Oops?
  13. He suppresses his Divine Breath throughout the entirety of Warbreaker, I would assume that the same skill would work just as well with regular Breaths. Edit: This makes me wonder if suppressing your Investiture is a skill anyone can learn, or if its granted by Breath, and it just becomes instinctive at a heightening we haven't learned about yet.
  14. I always figured that's why people always say we're almost certain. Perfect pitch is a thing that people can be born with, or he could have aquired it another way. Regardless, I never thought that he didn't have Breath, but I had seen @Extesian's WoB about his aura before and just didn't make the connection. All I was saying is that people can take the fact that he has breaths as a given now. Otherwise, any thoughts on the other one that seems to suggest that we've seen someone awaken offworld?
  15. Did you make sure to check for the confirmation message after you signed up? I just signed up not five minutes ago when I found out from this thread that I could get White Sand, and I got the Newsletter with the download immediately after I confirmed the first email. Ps: Thanks for the tip on WS being in the Newsletter
  16. Haha these are brilliant! My turn! Sixth of the Dusk: Mistborn: Edgedancer: Hmmm... I didn't even have to do much to that last one. Edit: Also, this thread just made me realize that you can run out of upvotes. XD Great work is being done in this thread.
  17. So I was browsing WoB's and I found one that I haven't ever seen refrenced on the Shard: Question 15 http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=1179 I've seen lots of people offhandedly say that we suspect that Hoid has breaths, but we aren't sure. I think we can count this as a fact now though, with that example in the context of the question. Edit: Slightly related, I found this other one that seems to indicate that Awakening has been used off Nalthis.
  18. Even if we do know that the units are based on Breaths, that leaves a lot of variables. We know that some people naturally have stronger Breath than others, and that a childs Breath is more 'vigorous' than an adults. Perhaps the unit will be based on a Divine Breath, which seem to be pretty much equal across the board, based on evidence from the text. Alternatively, perhaps the unit that eventually becomes the Cosmere standard will originate on Nalthis, and it doesn't need to go any deeper than that.
  19. I would think it must have some kind of spiritual aspect, since Investiture is drawn from the Spiritual Realm. If it just didn't exist at all in the SR, I don't think it could be allomanticly active, I could be wrong though, as this is just speculation. That said, I would wager that you're right in that there is something wierd about its spiritual, or maybe cognitive, aspect.
  20. You're welcome, and thank you, I've been using it for years on different games and forums.
  21. This is exactly what Brandon says it is in the annotations for AoL
  22. When you type Cosmere terms so often that your phone's auto correct begins to automatically change irrelevant things to Realmatic terms. I've had won change to WoB, chemical to Feruchemical, and institute change to Investiture by misspelling normal words.
  23. This is very interesting, I've never seen this WoB before. Personally, this makes me think that somehow Cultivation is using most of her Investiture to trap Odium, like Preservation did to Ruin. In American slang, at least, a slammer is a prison, not a prisoner. Hoid does like his puns. Edit: I upvoted you and it made you go from Artifabrian to Pahn Kahl, I'm not sure how that's an upgrade though. These wierd rankings haha
