  1. Yeah, it's definitely one of those dumb things one doesn't notice in normal circumstances but there's always that rare 1% that tries to ruin everything. I don't really notice it myself when I'm watching movies and shows unless it's extremely obvious like American Horror Story Coven with the Witches are white and Voodo practitioners are black parallel with Queenie being a mixed race (I know she's not literally mixed but she is a witch and voodoo combined) or if that's the story being told like in Hairspray. I do agree that Jar Jar is a silly character so it's hard to hate him, but he does have his annoying moments.
  2. @little wilson Guess I either have a tolerance to it or need a large amount. I don't know how much I regularly do, but I tend to do a soda at a restaurant or if I don't want one I do iced tea. I tend to drink a cup of tea (black, green and oolong are my picks) at night. I know when I was in middle and high school I drank a lot more soda than I do now since during those years I drank it at both lunch and dinner and sometimes consuming a couple in between meals. To the root beer talk YEAH FOR ROOT BEER!!! It's so hard to find a restaurant that serves it so I love getting it when it's available. @Mestiv some people claim it's an acquired taste item, kind of like bitter foods and alcohol, so if you find it try it a few times give it more than a couple sips.
  3. It's the name of one of my characters from a fantasy trilogy I'm writing. The story behind that is when I first thought of the story I wanted all the characters to have different ways of saying dragon for their names (because humans and dragons have a special relationship in that genetically they have a common ancestor but technically are separate races. Long story short dragons were bestial but intelligent while humans were capable of building and stuff but didn't have the brains to do it. A dragon mated with a human and their genes mixed enough that dragons became human shaped and humans gained intelligence). I ditched that but I grew attached to the main character being called Draginon so I kept it. I don't think I've heard it before. I might've seen them when browsing but never picked up.
  4. That's the thing, I don't have a disorder. The only places I go for caffeine though is soda and tea, no coffee for me since I hate the taste. So how exactly does ADD and ADHD affect caffeine anyway?
  5. There are some fantasy worlds where made up swears don't exist. Like for a story I'm writing they don't use real swears but their equivalent is done by referring to the goddess of the world. Because of how their mythology is swearing revolves around how 'clean' or 'dirty' her womb is. Long story short some say she has given birth and some say she hasn't so it evolved into its own swear system. Pretty much them saying "by the goddess' imacculate womb" is their version of damnation and the more defiled they make it gets it more to the worst ones out there. So outside of that there is practically no swearing in this world at all. Then you have stories like Dorothy Must Die where it is a fairy world but uses real world swears because of how Oz is connected to Kansas.
  6. I saw Close Encounters of the Third Kind for the first time today. My mom wanted to see Dunkirk so I had to see what was playing that I would watch and that was playing at the theater.
  7. How about when someone makes a complaint that has little or no logic behind it? Like my mom complains when my bedding smells but that's a normal thing when you've got sweat, dead skin and body odor sinking in while sleeping. Wish she could reveal her secret to not producing any natural waste while I'm sleeping. I never understood the zed pronunciation since I hadn't heard z pronounced that way until I got the Doctor Who DVDs a few years back and the documentaries would mention Z Cars for contemporary shows.
  8. With you there. I don't outright hate him, but I don't particularly care for him that much since there are worse characters in the Star Wars universe out there. It's also pretty dumb that people hate him because 'he's too black' and that's their legitimate excuse.
  9. We must be exposed to different types of British English. The first way is also how I've heard every other instance of towns ending in caster being pronounced by brits. The second pronunciation is the way we say it in California but with the r pronounced. @little wilson I agree with that wholeheartedly. It's weird how caffeine affects different people. I don't really get anything from it, I go more for the flavor of the drink like you, but my mom insists the caffeine in Coke helps her with headaches. I pronounce it car-mal
  10. What I got at B&N. I don't really read the Star Wars books but I couldn't resist grabbing this book about Leia. I don't have Netflix so I can finally watch these shows
  11. Brace yourselves, Christmas is coming
  12. New pet peeves: People who drive without their lights on at night. What secrets are you hiding that you need to be a void in the darkness? What I call The Horde. Pretty much it's when the entire family (mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, 5 kids, aunt and uncle) comes to the store but only one is doing the actual shopping with the others just standing there or the kids running around almost getting run over by other shoppers. I mostly see this with Mexicans but have seen it with other groups.
  13. Probably not until the drop bears are gone
  14. From Elantris: Never stub your toe ever. You will think of nothing else. From Mistborn: There is always another secret.
  15. That's the way I've heard it said on British shows...
  16. Compared to real trolls from Scandinavia they are extremely cute since those ones can be so ugly you would need a hundred ugly sticks just to make one of the rock trolls look like the Scandinavian ones.
  17. That pronunciation just doesn't make sense with the spelling to me. :/ Mc is an odd one since depending on the person it's either Mic or Mac and you can never tell which it's supposed to be. We had one student named Abc once and my mom thought it was the kid putting a fake name on the test sheet. That one was pronounced Ab-ca. That one makes sense since it's the English way of pronouncing it. Between adopting words from other languages and regional pronunciations... Heck here they claim Spanish is the easiest language but when you it where J is pronounced H and H is almost always silent I don't find it easy. That's my mom you just described. She can say 'can you get me the thing?' and I'll ask what thing and she goes to get the item herself because I'm 'too stoopid' to know what she meant.
  18. It makes you wonder how long these books are since they are three month projects. Would 300-500 pages sound right?
  19. You'd be surprised how many people I've met who have gotten mad over something like that. Even my mom's gotten mad at me for 'mispronouncing' names when we're checking the names of students at testing time. One memorable one is Buchanan. I pronounce it the way it's spelled but she keeps saying it's bew-cannon. Heck most Texans get touchy on pronunciations in general. Looking for the town of Lancaster? Make sure you pronounce the g in Langcaster or you'll get shot. The town of Italy? Better say Itly or else! I wouldn't know since it's her husbands last name. You should see Vietnamese names. One guy I work for has the last name Nguyen but is pronounced win.
  20. There's one character I've forgotten to list and that is Olaf from Frozen. Dear god disney created the most annoying character ever! He makes me want to torch a snowman instead of building one! He also does nothing to contribute to the story.
  21. Meant to be a teasing joke, not a legit question.
  22. He was fine with selling James out until he remembered he was married to Lily and her being in danger brought he over to Dumbledore's side. What kind of annoys me with the fandom is how so man forgive every single thing he did once the 'Snape loved Harry's mum' was shown. I had a little more respect for him but I didn't absolve him for the hell he put his students through. It's not really a dislike but more a 'dude, stop trying to end the relationship with someone you like and is clearly into you just because you think you're way too old for her' than anything. I like him otherwise, it was just that bit I disliked with him. I'd trust Lan with my life if he were real.
  23. So when's the revisions starting?
  24. So with the new video from Taylor Swift, give your thoughts on her feud with Katy Perry, Kanye West Kim Kardashion. vs Katy, she's at the point of forgive and forget but Taylor doesn't seem to be listening at all. This is a cat fight that needs to end now! vs Kanye and Kim, I'm behind her 100%. Those two have been nothing but lying snakes to her. He apologizes, Taylor accepts, he recants it by claiming it was peer pressure. He puts a very terrible lyric that implies raping her in his song Famous but he only gives her half of the context so she doesn't know what to really say so goes the nice route, then she hears the song and is understandably upset which brings Kim into the fray by posting that video which Kim claims shows Taylor as a liar, but I've watched it and nowhere does he tell her the full lyric which backs Taylor's side more. So I applaud her sticking it to them in her new video.
  25. "Toph, there will be no rumble city allowed while I'm in my meeting with King Bumi. If I sense any kind of rumble that has your name written all over it you'll look like a fire pit accident." Zuko says with a straight face. "You can do it afterwards though"
