Pretty much are there any stories you avoid/refuse to read because of the author themself. Same with with films/tv because of someone on the cast/crew. For me it would have to be Orson Scott Card. Pretty much the way he acts about anyone who isn't white and straight makes me not want to read his Ender Saga, especially after watching this: In a way OSC just seems the opposite of Brandon on how he treats people. Another for me is Lin Manuel Miranda. The stuff I have seen of him makes him seem like a hypocrite. Like he doesn't want anyone who's not black or Hispanic in Hamilton, I get the point of the characters not being white like in real life, to encourage getting good minority actors but at the expense of excluding good actors of other races which isn't very inclusive like he claims. Being inclusive is called blind casting in the theater world, what he does is excluding people based off ones skin color. Also his attitude surrounding the election also colored him bad to me so I'm not going to not anything he's involved in just because of him and his hypocrisy. I'm also avoiding Harper Lee's second novel because of the racism of Mockingbird, though that's more a novel issue for me.

It wouldn't be bad if it was a couple songs, but in my case it was 70! It was the opening and closing themes for a show that had 35 seasons at the time I got them.

To me it all depends on when during WOT Rand was pulled from. I'm also going to assume that ta'varen has no affect on people from the Cosmere thanks to the influence of the Shards. Pretty much if Rand from the first 3 books was pulled in then he's for sure dead since he doesn't have much experience in sword fighting, and he's still using a metal one here so he's at a disadvantage here, and he barely has a grasp on the OP so he wouldn't be able to counteract the Lord Rulers compounding. If Rand was pulled from book 4-6 he could give the Lord Ruler a good run since he's really getting good at sword fighting and using the OP but not enough to overwhelm him. If Rand was from books 7-12 then he'd for sure overwhelm the Lord Ruler since his sanity is really slipping by this point and if it was book 12 Rand then Rashek would need to pull everything he's got at once just to survive. If Rand was from the last two books, well he's fixed himself enough to keep from pulling the big guns immediately but if Rashek goes for the kill then Rand could so beat him and pull out all his metalminds without resorting to balefire. In other words Rashek can beat Rand from the front half of the series but would struggle to win towards the end. But the rules could change if Investiture allows anyone from the Cosmere to see Weaves, even with Atium, though they'd need to understand what the weaves do first so it would still be a moot point.

Random Stuff X: Something Weird

Decided to see how many stories I have in my leatherbound collection. In 30 Volumes I have around 158 stories. The number isn't exact since I'm obviously counting the Oz books separate but counting all of the Grimm fairy tales as one since that would get ridiculous. If I did count the ones like Grimm separate then I'd probably have closer to 300-400 stories, especially if I counted collection stories, like the Sherlock Holmes books, by their stories instead of by the volume itself. Amazing how much of a value these books are considering each is 20-25 and you get so much out of them, even if a couple do overlap with some stories. -
Watching the English release of Denji Sentai Megaranger. It's so interesting watching the Sentai shows and seeing the original context of scenes used in Power Rangers. One funny thing about this season and it's Power Rangers counterpart? The folks at Saban misunderstood what the theme was! They saw space shuttles and stuff like that so they assumed it was a space season, giving us Power Rangers in Space, when the actual theme was... Video Games and electronics that were revolutionary at the time! Can't wait to watch all 51 episodes and later pickup the seasons between Zyuranger and this (Dairanger (Chinese mythology theme), Kakuranger (ninja theme), Ohranger (starts as a mythology theme but real world events turned it into a muddled mess) and Carranger (car and satire theme)) and Gingaman (forest and ecological theme) next year along with GoGoV (public servents like paramedics and firefighters theme) and maybe Timeranger (time travel theme!), one I'm really looking forward to seeing. I do hope they eventually do the first 15 seasons and a movie collection since most of the movies do get referenced and reveal how they got a certain power, mech or some other item they suddenly have in the episodes after it.

Hearing the Weinstein stuff on tv and radio and I guess I don't know my Germanic pronunciations correctly. Everyone there keeps pronouncing it Winesteen but every German name and word I've seen with the ein sound always the same (Frankenstein, Einstein, stein) so I'm wondering where the een sound came from. Also currently reading Sherlock Holmes and the Servents of Hell and all I can think after the first chapter is "Finally! A British book where the spelling is British and not American!" It annoys me so much to read British books but to lose some of that flavour when it's brought over here. -

Fixed the year but will still reply to old year @Mestiv The winner was very unexpected, Scotland masqueraded as the English team against the Russians and won with a score of 1-0! @Overstorm they cancelled one of them so they set it two years later to compensate. Don't ask, something about Scottish independence, North Korea blowing up and Atlantis being found. Here's the schedule so far: -
I've read, and listened to some on theory videos, of the lore but not all of it.

Apparently there's a lot of people upset that Iceland made it to the 2018 FIFA World Cup but not the US. This isn't Eurovision people! No one team/country is guaranteed a spot here! Honestly, I don't get when people get upset over the US not qualifying for something like this. -
You talking about the game? If so I'm not interested in dying a million times.

@Pinnacle-Ferring & @Delightful Horns certainly are cool looking (have you seen fauns/satyrs? They pull it off good!). The whole horn=demon/evil thing always struck me as stupid even as a kid and I didn't even know about religion back then! To me all the features of demonizing always just seemed cool to me so I never thought of it as exclusively evil, only the attitude that determined if someone was 'evil', never the appearance. Heck I had a persona a few years back that was a demon and he was the nicest person you could meet so that shows how I feel about that stupidity. I even have a rough draft story where the hero is a demon and the villains are angels just to play off that fact about good isn't always 'pretty/beautiful' and evil isn't always 'ugly'

Thanks @Mulk @Kaymyth and @Mestiv I checked Google while waiting and am wondering now if I might need to rearrange the France, Netherlands and Germany portion. Going from Efteling to Günzburg is 13-14 hours but from Paris it's about 2 hours less so I'm thinking to fly from Heathrow or Liverpool (depending where my last stay there is) to Eindhoven and when I'm done there take the rail to Disney followed by Paris and then the rail to Günzburg, though the Google directions show that it's more transfers between bus, rail and lines so it's going to take some planning. @Mestiv If I ever have questions I'll let you know. On your third point, I will do that but I just wanted to get a general look to know if I need to plan for a day of travel or a partial day between destinations, especially since it's supposed to be for two if things pan out. -

@Kaymyth sorry, I thought about it myself after the fact but the damage was already done. I'm trying to figure out transportation options for the sabbatical I want to do in two years and want a little confirmation from any Western Europeans here. Apparently Apple maps doesn't show how to go between countries outside of driving yourself or walking and I want to avoid renting a car at all costs because of the cost of renting and gas would be way more than getting bus and train tickets/passes. Pretty much I want to try getting from the Disneyland Paris Resort to Efteling up in Kaatsheuvel Netherlands followed by going to Günzburg Germany to see Legoland Deutschland. Does anyone know of any train routes that go between these locations or close enough? Also when looking up how to get from the Windsor area up to Alton Towers the map directions said to hop a bus from Windsor to London and take a train to Derby then catch another bus to Alton Towers. Is that as good a route as I'm going to get? I'm good to go on getting my locations in Asia mapped out on the transportation side, none of the locations are close enough to each other so plane is necessary, so no help is needed there. -
Just finished reading Five Nights at Freddy's The Silver Eyes. It's a very slow read for a YA book. It works as a book version of the games and I could picture how it would look as a horror film. If I had to choose between facing the game characters or the book versions I'd rather face the game ones, the worst you get in the game is a jumpscare, the book versions can throw arcade machines around! If you're not paying attention you might not even realize this takes place in the mid 90's and not now. Trying to figure out what I'm going to read next, Sherlock Holmes and the Servents of Hell (pretty much Holmes meets Pinhead) or From a Certain Point of View (a Star Wars book). Edit: Okay, I decided on Holmes because Halloween reasons. I'd rather read something creepy over something fannish for the scariest time of the year

I love them as well. The endpapers are great and love the collections ones, like Alice in Wonderland having everything Carroll wrote. They sell them on their website as well if you can't find it. I've practically got a rainbow from the ones I have currently and am thinking of arranging them by color in the future. There's some I wish they'd do an additional volume for like Fairy Tales Around the World Part 2 since the first is exactly half of the tales from Andrew Lang's Fairy Books and a second volume for John Carter since the one out is the front half. There's one that I question because it's purely a fan related one, Star Trek the scripts, but if you're that big a fan then you've already got the DVDs so there's not much reason to grab it unless you're hardcore Trekkie. -

@Silverblade5 Now that's a pretty good compliment to get. Went to a Doctor Who fan event today up in Grapevine. They had a professor talk about time and a fan audio that was pretty fun to hear. Also stopped at Barnes&Noble afterwards and got more than I planned. Also expanded my leatherbound collection. They also had a promotion where it was bogo 50% one. The price on the Christie surprised me since classics are $20 while modern classics are $25 and she was $25. She isn't a modern writer like Dan Brown or Crichton so why is she $25? Dune at least makes sense to be $25 since that was 60's/70's. What exactly is the line between classics and modern classics anyway? -

The way my mom keeps acting both me and my sister are practically on the way to cutting ties from her because both of us are at the ends of our ropes and patience with her. A couple years back my mom almost put me into depression the way she kept going on during Christmas and it nearly killed me. I didn't have anyone else in my life then so it was hard to get through that period. Shortly after that I met my girlfriend online for the first time and she makes me happier just messaging her more than my real life does. I keep hoping to meet up with her someday but it's hard when we live on different continents and I don't have a passport at all. I am thinking of doing a sabbatical in a couple years to have an excuse to meet her in person, and since she wants to do a sabbatical as well it would be perfect to do that together. The only real problem would be how my mom would treat her. While I would love her to be fine with my gf, I just know my mom's discrimination quirks would get the better of her (my sisters boyfriend is Hispanic and my mom didn't even want to spend time with his family, instead spending all of Christmas Day at the cemetery) so if she does any of that I just might cut ties completely. The pervy thing is just a minor stupid thing she does that makes me question how she thinks. Someone could be talking and acting perfectly nice to her but if they omit one word like thanks she makes them out as rude and no personality to everyone else she talks to. You could follow her instructions to the letter and she'll find fault with it (something could be flush against the wall and it's somehow not close enough to the wall) and she'll fly off the handle if she thinks you're slacking (if something at work normally takes a couple hours but the Internet acts up it could take twice as long or if other people keep interrupting with their own things that need to be done then that takes time away as well). She thinks with me that it's because I'm 'autistic' but everyone else has the same response about her, they don't say it to her face but have told me, so is everyone 'autistic' around her? Sorry about the spiel, my mom is just that bad about everything. -

@axcellence But you had no choice in the matter when it came to cutting ties right? I was a teen when I met that side of the family and they were so horrible and rude that I have no desire to meet them. I have no problem with other sides of the family, family that have the same great + grandparents as me, but my mom's immediate family is horrid. My sister was the only one near enough to have contact and they're horrid to her so they haven't changed at all. In other news: My mom must think I'm as pervy as her because at a store we went to she had asked me later if I noticed the worker was rearranging his package. I told her I wasn't paying attention to his pants, she's all 'I'm not talking about his pants' so I rephrased it to 'I wasn't paying attention to anything below the waist' and she gave me the same response so I just told her everything below the waist that I was not looking at and she said something about me acing a problem! I mean who goes to a store and all they think about is a worker rearranging his junk and that everyone else with you is noticing it?! -
We tend to go once a month so it makes you wonder more why she complains over the obvious. Well the slavery thing hasn't been a real issue since the Civil War, back in 1865 or whenever it ended and it's only being an issue now because people are complaining about Confederate statues not mentioning slavery and that isn't mentioned because people complained about it being mentioned in the first place and the ones complaining are white college kids, so a bigger issue facing blacks is ingrained discrimination that needs to die. I'm not an expert on the terminology, I had to look up how it was spelled tbh. The stereotype I grew up hearing was that all Jews have big noses. The majority of media I've seen with positive Jewish portrayal I've seen was Rugrats, the Pickles family celebrated Chanukah instead of Christmas and the grandparents were German I believe, anything with Bob Saget, despite the fact he doesn't tend to play Jewish characters, and anything that told Anne Frank's story. In this house it's done approximately once a month so she's complaining for no reason. There are some British pronunciations that sound weird to me like gar-age.
