  1. DING DING DING DING DING!!! We have a winner!
  2. Thank you for your humility. I've never played it either. Who has the time, since we all spend our days here instead?
  3. Very modern, but I spent about ten second on this. It just came. Feeling stupid for failing art, investigating the art of failing. Stupid feelings.
  4. Just as a little perk-up for the people who created this site, I would like to say that, no matter it's real or perceived flaws, the rep system is really good. I miss it on Dragonmount, which I recently joined. I personally enjoy upvoting a post that I find witty, enlightening, or well written. You can't do that over there. So, thank you.
  5. I think that Lashing is very closely related to Steelpushing and Ironpulling. Brandon has stated that similar powers in different magic systems work the same way, but powered by a different Shard. So then Pulling should be like Reverse Lashing a piece of metal to yourself, not Lashing yourself to the metal. That way normal gravity would still affect you. By that same postulate, filling an ironmind would also be similar to decreasing your weight with Lashing. Exactly as Zas says, manipulating gravity with Surgebinding decreases your spiritual connection with the planet. Filling an ironmind would be storing that connection. So when you're storing weight, your spiritual connection with the planet is weaker, because some of it is going into the metalmind. Then, when you tap, that connection increases. That make sense? PS: Sorry I don't know all the types of Lashing, since I haven't read more of WoK than the sample chapters on Tor's website. But I understand how they work. Edit: I read the Ars Arcanum, and slightly modified my theories to make sense. On another note, I've got another question: What would happen if a normal (non-Returned) person drew Nightblood fully and ran out of Breaths? I assume he would still be powerful, but not as powerful as when he's feeding on a wealth of Breaths.
  6. I would like to announce that living without running water is not fun. My house had a pipe break, so the water's been off for a few days. If you've never had that done, it will surprise you how much you depend on sinks, toilets, and showers. Makes me glad for the fantastic utilities this country has. I mean, imagine having water for only a few hours a day, same for electricity, and, heaven forbid, no natural gas. Hooray technology!
  7. And now the inevitable question: What's your best 3 mile time? Mine's 19:35, but I've got a few years left to improve that. You probably smoke me.
  8. Have you ever read Fablehaven? Think about the Eternals in the 5th book. That kind of eternal life. That my friend would be The Princess Bride. It's a quote between Indigo and Wesley as they're fighting at the top of the cliffs of despair. Exactly. I used it because it's ironic– I'm ambidextrous. Plus I absolutely love that movie.
  9. Hooray, another XC guy! I don't do track, though. Swimming takes my spring sport spot.
  10. Anybody else notice that there's a Dor in there?
  11. Apparently Brandon did too. He wrote that in without realizing he was, essentially, adding aluminum foil hats to his world. Laughed himself silly, I expect, then left it in.
  12. That's a tough one. Probably mistborn, but I'd go with feruchemist if I could get ahold of some Lerasium. Normal life or never be able to die? (no suicide, no murder, nothing)
  13. That was the most awful mistborn fight I've ever read! She obviously didn't read the book. Or the wiki article. Or anything at all on the Coppermind. Or anything at ALL describing his powers. Plus I think she just wanted her character to win. Moraine's fight was good, though, and I absolutely loved the Mistborn reference!

    Lerasium

Don't you dare leave me out... I'll come after you with spikes. What number element is it?
  15. I would like to announce that my grades are suffering because I spend too much time here instead of doing homework.
  16. Elantrian! Their magic is so much more versatile. Would you rather wear all black or all white for the rest of your life?
  17. Depends. Am I a Soother? Barring that, which one runs slower?
  18. Darn.
  19. I don't much like either Elantris cover. What I really want to see is a leather-imitation cover with a gigantic aon Aon in gold on the front, and an aon Rao on the back. Maybe some others on the spine (Shao would fit well). I really like simple, powerful looking books. But that's just my preference.
  20. Translation? (My Spanish doesn't give any help on whatever that is)
  21. I hereby submit this link as a blatant attempt to get that Rubix award.
  22. I found another one! Doors. In the 3-word-story thread.
  23. So they talked about doors (This cosmeme will never die!)
  24. Acid. (don't tell them it was only pH 6)
