    Marsh

Interestingly enough, there was some discussion in the Atium Alloys topic about the possibility of the atium alloy of one of the mental metals having the ability to send a mistborn to Shadesmar. If that's true, then Ruin would probably know it, since atium is his metal. So the bolded idea is certainly possible. Sounds a bit like Odium all over again.
  2. Thanks for the font, it's really cool! That's one of the things I like about Brandon's books. He always provides cool symbols, scripts, jewelry, etc. for fans to geek out about.
  3. I chose blue when I had only read the first few books, but now that I've finished Lord of Chaos, I have to say that being an Asha'man would be way cooler.
  4. I expect many of the shard we know have pairs among those we don't. After all, there are 8 more out there. Maybe Endowment's opposite is Simplicity. Now how would simplicity work in a magic system, I wonder?
  5. What does that mean?
  6. That's what chromium does.
  7. I think that's exactly how duralumin works. (still can't find the quote... I'll keep looking) Metal poisoning wouldn't be a problem, because none of the metals are dangerous enough to hurt you unless you burn aluminum on a regular basis. The only one we know contains a poisonous metal is pewter, and the amount of lead in it is not enough to hurt you short term. And they'd still be digestible because allomancers swallow their metals as dust or flakes. The metal would just pass through the digestive system.
  8. I'd give the Brown Ajah Wikipedia.
  9. I'm honored.
  10. It's in the annotations somewhere. HoA, I think. I'll check.
  11. WARNING 2: More Mistborn spoilers Brandon says in the HoA annotations that the energy from burning atium goes back to the Pits of Hathsin, because the energy is not used up, just utilized. Allomancy should work the same way, so Preservation's energy is not used up. It just returns to its source. The Dor is probably the same.
  12. It's interesting to note how opposite Marsh and Kelsier became. Kelsier held Preservation's power, Marsh became one of Ruin's minions. Marsh joined the Ministry, Kelsier destroyed it. Kelsier died young, Marsh will presumably live forever. Marsh is described in that quote as Death, Kelsier as Life. Did Brandon do that on purpose?

    Lerasium

Lerasium made the periodic table on Scadrial.
  14. Vin was also an incredibly powerful allomancer, so she could get greater effects from smaller amounts of metals, the same way Elend could get an even bigger one, because his is more powerful than her. Perhaps the newly created mistings just weren't powerful enough to get a noticeable effect.
  15. Brandon said that burning aluminum doesn't destroy a mistborn's other metals, it just keeps the allomancer from feeling them by cutting off his/her access to Preservation. So it doesn't affect the metal itself.
  16. Clever. Which one? I assume the opposite metal would get them out of Shadesmar... That would make a great plot device once he starts linking the worlds together.
  17. I stand corrected. It just seemed that, since lerasium creates mistborn, and the mists are another form of it, maybe the mists could create allomancy. I guess not.
  18. I really like your versions of the enhancement metal alloys. Good thinking! (And yes, the chromium idea does scare me. Talk about a super-terrorist!) I did not know that atium always has a temporal/mental effect. Did Brandon say that? I was just thinking of random yet cool changes.
  19. ...still laughing about the LEGO Inquisitor... What would happen if I stuck tiny nails into a LEGO head? LEGOS REGIRENT!!!
  20. Oh, I got another idea: Atium+Cadmium: lets you get in/out of cadmium bubbles Atium+Bendalloy: lets you get in/out of bendalloy bubbles And I thought maybe Ferratium for Iron+Atium

    Atium Alloys

It just popped into my head that, aside from malatium, we have no clue what the other alloys of atium do. I will now propose a list of what I think they should do, going on the assumption that a metal's atium alloy has a similar, yet different, effect (like malatium and gold). Here goes... Atium+Iron: Lets you decrease the temperature of nearby metals Atium+Steel: Lets you increase the temperature of nearby metals Atium+Tin: Lets you enhance other peoples' senses Atium+Pewter: Lets you increase other peoples' strength Atium+Zinc: Lets you feel when someone is experiencing a strong emotion (but not which one) Atium+Brass: Lets you feel the general emotion of the area, but not individual people Atium+Copper: Gives off confusing bronze pulses (very annoying to seekers) Atium+Bronze: Destroys copperclouds Atium+Gold: Already confirmed (see malatium) Atium+Electrum: Lets you see other people's futures Atium+Cadmium: Makes you move slowly through time (like a personalized cadmium bubble) Atium+Bendalloy: Makes you move quickly through time (like a personalized bendalloy bubble) Atium+Aluminum: Makes any metal you're burning do what its atium alloy would do (or for atium alloys, what the metal it's made from does) Atium+Duralumin: Makes any metal you're burning do what it's paired metal does (steel turns to iron, etc.) Atium+Chromium: Makes any metal another person is burning do what its atium alloy would do (or for atium alloys, what the metal it's made from does) Atium+Nicrosil: Makes any metal another person is burning do what it's paired metal does (steel turns to iron, etc.) Any body have any other ideas? And another thing– names for each alloy. The only idea I have so far is Cupratium for copper+atium.
  22. I agree! Have a 1+! So sad I can't read it yet (I haven't bought it yet and nobody I know has).
  23. How does one pronounce "deux ex machina"? It's been bothering me.
  24. Did the mists snap people who already had allomantic potential, or did it create said potential AND snap it? Recalling the large number of people that were snapped, and the exact 16%, it seems unlikely that there would be that many people with any noble ancestry, especially when you consider how much half-breeds are hounded.
  25. What if there were people on numerous world before the Shattering of Adonalsium but the Shattering killed some of them? (Maybe the worlds closest?) You can assume that a massive event like that is going to have major repercussions...
