Tournament: Cosmere Character Roast Battles
ILuvHats replied to Ashspren's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Taravangian takes offense at Amaram's roast, and would like to let him know that as soon as he can find time in his schedule, he'll roast him so soundly he might as well be a turkey at a thanksgiving dinner. In all seriousness, though, nice roast @Toaster Retribution .- 2784 replies

Tournament: Cosmere Character Roast Battles
ILuvHats replied to Ashspren's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Dang @Ark1002!! Your roast was rhymalicious! And, uh, wait, was that a real word? Sorry, I'm having a bad day... can't think straight. Anyways, if I make it past the first round, I'll be happy to face you. Ever since I swore allegiance to Odium I haven't had a lot of time to relax.- 2784 replies

Thanks for the advice @Pagerunner

Hi. I think I might be going to my first signing next month, the one in Chicago. I just want some advice from more experienced people on how I should phrase my question. Basically, I wanted to ask why the human/singer hybrids we've seen appear more human than singer, and if there are any crossbreeds that are more closely related to singers than humans. Also, I'm not set on this question, it was just the only thing I could think of that isn't super likely to get a RAFO. If anybody has other ideas, I'm open to suggestions.

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
ILuvHats replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Granted. You are now following so many ideals that it’s impossible to do anything without breaking at least one oath. Have fun watching your spren die one by one. I wish to know what my bane will be. -
Oh well. It was worth a shot. And thank you SO MUCH for mentioning the signing in Chicago. I'd read about it when all the dates were initially posted, and then promptly forgot about it. I literally would have missed it if you hadn't mentioned it . Just for that, have another upvote. I'm going to try to head up there, if I can find somebody else to go with.

(Gasp) Somebody else from the midwest! Do you live in northern Illinois by any chance? If you do, I might be in the area.

That's why I put dubbed (looks like I'm in the minority ). But really it depends on the show.

This is the best I’ve heard all day. You, sir, are a sans-ation.

If windrunners weren’t needed and the ships could be powered with fabrials, they would be a lot more practical, I agree. However, I believe Navani would have designed the ships based on existing fabrials during OB. I don’t think creating ships that functioned as a single fabrial, like Urithiru, would be likely considering nobody currently understands how Urithiru itself works. I could see this in the distant future, like arc 2 of stormlight, but if the ships are in the next book, I think they’d probably be powered by a bunch of individual fabrials. Though I do agree that trapping mandras in gems will likely be part of the functionality of such a ship.
-
Out of curiosity, do you think it’ll be more likely the ships will be used solely for long distance transportation of troops, or that they’ll also be used in battle? I always imagined that they’d see action in battle, but I’m not sure how much sense that makes since they’d be under constant attack from the fused. I mean, the reason to use it in battle would be to rain destruction on ground troops with impunity. But with constant harrying from fused who are so much more powerful than the ordinary humans making up the crews of these ships, would they even have time to attack ground armies? And if they can’t take advantage of their height over ground troops, the manpower needed to man the ships would be largely wasted and would better be used on the ground to add bulk to armies. Edit: I forgot I wanted to comment on the use of gravitation to power the ships. I don’t think it’s likely becauae if impracticality. You’d have to send a wind runner with each ship, and they could obviously be better used in battle. These ships won’t be always going towards a battlefield, after all. And there’s only 3 wind runners right now, though I’m sure that number will have increased by a years time. Fabrials using gravitation would negate this problem, but considering still nobody understands how soulcasters or any other surge fabrial works, I doubt they’d unlock the secret in just over a years time. Another problem with using gravitation would be the speed the ship traveled at. To get enough stormlight to move the ship, it would have to be traveling at the front of a highstorm. Just to keep up with the storm, the ship would be traveling so fast that anyone on deck (which it looks like the ships have in the image) would be swept off.

As a connoisseur of hats, I can certify that the hat in that picture is a majestic masterpiece. She is no ordinary headgear, oh no. Notice her voluptuous curvature, her stiff and springy brim, her seamless texture. Only a man of refined taste, such as Wayne, would don such a beauty.

How characters are described vs how the appear in your head.
ILuvHats replied to ChetLee's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I have a problem. For some reason, I can’t help but picture some characters as being... kinda fat. Not all characters, but certain ones. Like Adolin, for example. When I first red WoK, I pictured him with a chubby face and a husky build. I guess it’s cause I thought it matched his laidback personality. But then I saw fan art and I was like yeah.... that makes more since considering he’s described as handsome a lot. -
You can also find the album if you search “Kaladin” on YouTube. But pleeeease buy the album if you like the music . The more money it makes the more likely it is they’ll do a sequel album for WoR. And I would give up an arm (Lopen joke) to get another album

@Silverlight Welcome to the shard! Your theory has a lot of merit. I can't actually remember anybody bringing up the possibility of Szeth being a developing Radiant before being deemed Truthless, which is weird because it seems like a somewhat obvious explanation of Szeth's past. As far as I'm aware, people have posited that Szeth announced the return of the Knights Radiant and that led to him being deemed Truthless, but not that he was a Radiant himself.... Also, you don't need to mark spoilers for Oathbringer anymore. At this point, if somebody is looking at posts under the Stormlight Archive forum, it's assumed they've already read all the books.

And thus Brandon revealed that he and Douglas Adams had been collaborating all along, and that the Cosmere is in fact an extended sequel to the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy. This easter egg is truly the answer to life, the universe and everything! Btw @Emurii, I just noticed this was you're 16th post.

This is an example of my latest portrait. I'm not a very good artist...

Well, I'll pray for you to make the right decision, whatever that is for you.

I don't want to intrude or make assumptions about anything, and I'm really trying to understand your post. I've read it and re-read it. So don't take offense, I'm just attempting to comprehend everything. My question is how do you know something bad is going to happen to Dean? Is it something you intuited, or is there more tangible evidence? You seem seriously concerned, and you want to take action, but you're not sure what to do, right? Maybe you don't believe in the power of prayer in your belief system, or maybe you've already been doing it, but that's about the only thing I can think of doing at this point. That and waiting. I honestly don't have enough information to give any other advice... I'm definitely not the person you're looking for who truly understands, but I felt that for some reason I should try to answer. I'm not sure what else to say, except that I hope you can resolve this situation in good way.

Hmmm. I must have misremembered the quote. For some reason I thought it was more explicit. And you're right, it doesn't make much of a difference to the theory, it was just a tidbit I wasn't 100% sure was true. Gotta get that chronology straight, right?
