Well, as with most feruchemical traits, it’s better to view identity as a river flowing through you. When you store the attribute, you divert the river. But when you stop storing it, the attribute starts flowing back through you. So the moment you stopped storing identity, you should regain your own identity

I definitely agree that Adolin’s murder was much more justified than Moash’s, but I’m gonna go ahead and play devil’s advocate here. I’d say vengeance was definitely a factor not only in Moash’s actions but also in Adolin’s, though Adolin’s motivations we’re more mixed. The difference between the two murders, as you pointed out, is that Sadeas presented a legitimate threat in the future to Adolin’s family while Elhokar was not in the same position regarding Moash. Take into consideration though that as Moash perceived it, Elhokar has already killed his family, while Sadeas, though he had certainly tried, had not yet succeeded to do the same to Adolin. So, Moash was more justified in his actions compared to Adolin than you give him credit for. Also, regarding the fact that Elhokar’s intentions were much less malevolent than Sadeas’s, remember that Moash hadn’t seen any of the character development Elhokar had gone through at the end of WoR and in OB. He still perceived the king as a weak and lazy man with selfish intentions who had basically murdered his family. I think deep down Moash realized Elhokar might not deserve death, which might have even contributed to the lack of satisfaction the death gave him. However, I doubt Moash could have allowed himself to consciously consider that Elhokar didn’t deserve death after everything he’d been through. That being said; storm Moash.

Tournament: Cosmere Character Roast Battles
ILuvHats replied to Ashspren's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Wow, ok. I did not realize it was taken that seriously in professional fields. I mean I’ve written resumes before (which I probably double spaced), but they weren’t for highly sought positions, per say, so I still got the job. But wow. I guess it’s time for me to reform. And I just realized I double spaced this entire post so now I need to go back and edit it. From now on, if any of you see me double spacing, give me a friendly, metaphorical slap in the face.- 2784 replies

The Longest Thread (Misadventures)
ILuvHats replied to ElephantEarwax's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Tom said, let there be light, and there was light! And Tom saw the light was good, and he was pleased. Then in a dark corner, Tom saw Jerry. So, Tom ate Jerry, and he was very pleased. And he rested, for his destiny had been fulfilled.- 111832 replies

@Paranoid King, totally random thought, but there's a typo in your signature and now it's bugging me . Also, I concur. Kidpen clearly has the best metaphors in this competition. They're the only ones that don't make any sense! And he composed them in 20 minutes too!! Pure genius.- 2784 replies

Tournament: Cosmere Character Roast Battles

@Ashspren I need an extension. A project defied comprehension. It took me 10 hours, And now my mood's sour. Without sleep, I fear vast inattention. [break away from limerick] Sorry to ask this, but could you extend the deadline by 12 hours? I had an assignment that took way too long tonight, and that was with 6 hours of preparation before today. Plus, I have work tomorrow until mid-afternoon, so I can't get pumping on my limericks until then.- 2784 replies

Thanks for the recommendations. I honestly thought this thread was dead and just moved on with life. But now I have a new list of webcomics to explore! Cheers.

I’d think so. The investiture the spikes pin to your soul is recognized as foreign investiture, so traits gained from the donor can’t be passed on genetically. However, spikes also warp your original spirit web in addition to adding new bits, so any traits arising from this warping could probably be passed on to children. For example, inquisitors can’t pass on Allomancer, but considering they’re no longer completely human, any children they have might be anatomically different from normal people.

I agree. I see addiction to stormlight as mirroring Vin’s experience with pewter. It wasn’t physically addicting, but she used it so much that when she wasn’t burning it she felt weak and uncoordinated. So, she just kept using it more and more often.

The Ten Orders: How They do Everyday Things
ILuvHats replied to little wheel's topic in Stormlight Archive
How the Ten Orders read books: Windrunner: Reads books about flying, while flying (like Skyward :D). Skybreaker: Can’t truly enjoy the book until they’ve found every single grammatical and continuity error and reports them to the author. Dustbringer: Reads Fahrenheit 451, gets inspired, and goes burn down a library. Edgedancer: Reads the obscure works no ones heard of, and tries to convince everyone else to read them too. Truthwatchers: Spoils the endings of books they haven’t read yet. Lightweaver: Goes to the kid’s section of the library and reads the picture books. Elsecaller: Reads college textbooks, and then rewrites them, but better. Willshaper: “Books? What are these ‘books’ you speak of?” Stoneward: Will not stop reading the same series over and over again. Bondsmith: Likes organizing book clubs and UNITING their fellow readers.- 166 replies

Kaladin among the bridgemen, Raoden among the Elantrians
ILuvHats replied to Eran of Arcadia's topic in Stormlight Archive
Sorry to nitpick, but I’d actually call Dalinar a theist. He certainly doesn’t believe in Vorinism anymore, but he’s spoken out multiple times that he still believes there’s a capital G god out there. So even though he doesn’t believe in any organized religion, he’s still a theist, and hasn’t shown the nonchalance about the potential existence of a deity that Kaladin or Vin showed. -

How many atium shadows does a steelrunner have?
ILuvHats replied to beantheboy12's topic in Mistborn
I’m sorry but I must continue the debate . The future could be set in stone in the cosmere, but that doesn’t mean Vin and Zane’s scene is a plot hole. The way I see fortune/future sight as working is that it gives the user data on the choices a person could make, and an understanding of their personality/psyche/instincts or whatever so that the user can interpret which choices the target is likeliest to make. Obviously the fortune user isn’t consciously going through this whole process, but I imagine it’s something like this. So the spiritual realm doesn’t just contain the future that will happen; it contains all possible futures. That doesn’t mean that one certain future isn’t THE future, the one that has been, is, and always will be the future. It just means the Spiritual realm contains more then the absolute future. So for all intents and purposes, the future isn’t set in stone because there’s no way to determine one hundred percent which possibility is THE future. But there still is a THE future. Hopefully I don’t sound crazy. Also, I just realized how many times is used the word “future” but I’m too lazy to edit it.- 43 replies

Unfortunately, Brandon isn’t really looking to make an elemental magic system because of how over done it is. This WoB is specifically talking about 4 element magics like in Avatar, but I think it’s also applicable to the 10 element system you’re thinking about. Also, it has been confirmed that Windrunners can control air pressure. We’re not sure if it’s possible only with the surge of Adhesion (bonding things, like the various molecules in air, together) or if it’s a combination of Gravitation and Adhesion, in which case Skybreakers wouldn’t be able to replicate this ability.
