  1. Even if the raft isn’t a spren it still doesn’t explain the glowing eyes
  2. Why no to the second point? Do you have evidence or just a gut feeling?
  3. So I'm going through Mistborn again, and I've just finished Era 1 and before the delights of Wax and Wayne, I thought I'd listen to The Secret History. I've just passed the bit where Kelsier talks to and then fights with Hoid and during the fight, it's stated that So obviously we know that Hoid has a spren now (as of the end of Oathbringer) however it appears in this fight, which is far earlier in the overall timeline than OB he can take in stormlight/surgebind. This also seems likely as he spends the first half of this fight in a fairly equal position to Kel and then suddenly he is pounding him into the dirt (or magic preservation goop I suppose). So in the hour or so since I listened to this passage I have come up with 2 theories 1) Hoid can slide backwards and forwards in time. This isn't a particularly good theory as I believe that Brandon wouldn't include time travel in his work as its a bit too Sci-fi for this point. However, if any author could do it properly it would be Brandon 2) Hoid has been around during the time of a previous desolation and bonded a spren. Now, this I could see Brandon doing, it's been stated in a previous WOB that I can't be asked to find that it is possible to bond multiple spren if they find you worthy. Therefore I believe that this is what happened and that old Hoid could one day show up with a couple Spren friends (Spriends if you will) Also, I did have an idea that Spanky (His corpse raft) is actually his spren. It can interact with the Cognitive realm with no problem because it's a cognitive being.# Anyway, that's my theory what do you think. Has this ever been addressed in a WOB? If so could someone link it I'd love to know
  4. We learn from the This means that at the very least the Koloss would still die at 20 or so years from excessive growth. Whether or not they would continue growing is not so clear however the term "Agelessness" Suggests that they don't age and therefore I'd assume they would not grow however this is a question for Brandon as we don't really have enough information on BioChroma to speculate any further
  5. - I Swear to never reveal information about our organization which is deemed secret. - I Swear to never spike any baked item with any substance that should not be there - I Swear allegiance to this Guild, and give all due loyalty to it's goals and precepts Although just to let you know I’m also a member of the Craftsmen. Please let me know if that’ll be a problem
  6. @MacThorstenson Would it be possible to include a hint to each system, e.g. metal for Scadrial, gem for Roshar, Bright colour for Nalthis, Silver for Threnodite and an imprinted Aon for Sel?
  7. In both Mistborn and Stormlight the money is used by their respective power systems in order to aid them, therefore I think that if a cosmere wide monetary system were to develop then it would have Allomantically useful metal inset with a cut gemstone allowing for both mistborn/steelpushers and radiants to use them.
  8. If you gave 2 unkeyed Pewter Metalminds to a mistwraith would it become a Kandra with the blessing of potency?
  9. So this is my character sheet, please judge and critic. I realise that the Backstory is a bit long but I got a bit carried away (having far too much fun)

    Breaths

So quick question, are people to transfer limited numbers of breaths (i.e. Not all of there breaths) to another person? And if so what are the words they have to say? Admittedly I haven't read Warbreaker in a while so can't remember if this is ever addressed Thanks
  11. So I don't know if this helps or not but there has already been a fan album made for the story of Kaladin and the Way of Kings. https://brandonsanderson.com/kaladin-the-original-book-soundtrack-from-the-black-piper/ Although from what I've seen Brandon's attitude to fan projects are that they can be monetised as long as the people involved did work themselves and aren't just plagiarising his stuff with no effort Edit: I am entirely wrong. Very dumb. Please ignore me
  12. I haven't read any of the Non-Arcanum Novellas Brandon's written, e.g. Mitosis, Legion. Book 2 of Reckoners was odd as I had clearly missed something
  13. So it's unlikely anyone remembers but on an old post about possible games based off of the Cosmere Books I mentioned an idea a friend and I had for a Mistborn Era 2 game. So after a few months of trying, unsuccessfully, to work Unity and Unreal Engine 4 I thought I'd come here and try and get explain my concept and see if anyone has any good incite for learning video game coding. ***Disclaimer - This is a concept for my perfect Mistborn game many of the aspects of this game are incredibly unrealistic and a would require way too much work to be feasible.*** The Concept So our premise was for a first-person Mystery/Action game where you assume the role of a young Upperclass man/ woman Solving some sort of inter-house murder mystery which involves gathering clues, attending parties and generally being a fancy young noble. We decided not to go with Wax and Wayne as the lead characters do to a game mechanic we both particularly loved. The Mechanics Metallic Arts So the aforementioned mechanic is that you have the ability to choose the powers you play through the game with. So, you can choose one Allomantic Power and one Feruchemical power or have no powers at all. This gives you 289 possible combinations. Now I gather that a lot of powers are seemingly useless if your not a Mistborn e.g Duralumin or Aluminium, but for completeness, I intend to include them. Here is a link to my all the powers and how they'd work in the game: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1W9TGSrUb7GBE632xkhQbUZfRXY3U9sLri66zuvEaYXI/edit?usp=sharing So part of the reason I like the idea of choosing your powers is that it allows you to play the game in many different ways, for example: You need to get a document hidden inside one of Elendel's waterfront mansions on the night of a large party. Here are some of your options Using your Zinc metal mind you easily talk your way past the guards and into the party where you spend the evening mingling and dazzling people with your impressive wit this leads to you getting to know your host and eventually convincing them to let you see the document. Using your improved strength and balance due to pewter you manage to sneak your way onto a balcony and into the room where the document is kept. After you find it you make mental copies in a metal mind and make your escape without anyone knowing you were there. As this mansion is placed on the waterfront you decide to brave the icy river and swim your way inside using your Cadmium minds for air, allowing you to avoid the prying eyes of any guards on patrol. These are just some of my ideas after only a few minutes of thought but I'm sure there are plenty more I haven't even considered. Conversation So another mechanic I intend to have would be a conversation system allowing for players to talk NPCs and use methods such as emotional Allomancy or Connection to better manipulate conversations to your benefit. As I said in the previous section you could also use a Zinc mind which would open up more dialogue options. Combat After a post I saw a while ago I thought it'd be a good idea to have specific combat styles based off of the types of Allomancy or Feruchemy you have: Allomancy fighting styles Pewter - Fast and blunt, very similar to boxing. Works best with heavy blunt weapons Emotional Allomancy - Works by reducing moral of opponents - Works best in one on one combat Chromium - Aims to get the fighter in close to get skin to skin contact through palm strikes, Works best against Allomancers Nicrosil - Aims to empower Allomancer partners with bursts of power or to overload opponents Allomancy, Works best in pairs or against tin eyes as they become stunned by the explosion of senses Feruchemy fighting styles Pewter - Uses overwhelming force to down opponents Steel - Fast blows before the opponent can attack Iron - Uses fighters weight against the opponent, uses throws and grappling There will also be a basic fighting style for the powerless to use. Problems So the biggest problem I currently have is that I have about as much coding experience as a Roman Centurion! So all these big dreams are useless if I have no idea how to make any of them happen. I'm doing the best I can with online tutorials but the ones I've found are not great. So if anyone knows any good coding guides or tutorials I'd love to hear about them. Next, there are some powers in Allomancy and Feruchemy that I don't have any idea how to implement as a game mechanic e.g. Feruchemical Bendalloy. Some of you have probably noticed that I haven't yet mentioned anything about compounding and at the moment that is because of the simple fact that I haven't got any idea how many of them would work. There are some obvious ones such as Iron and Steel but when it comes to things like copper and Nicrosil I have no idea how it would work. So my intention is to wait for Brandon to reveal more and then make educated guesses about what some of the powers do. A plea for help So finally I want to ask any for help anyone who has any ideas on how to improve or develop the concept I would be delighted to hear them as I clearly haven’t covered everything and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much if you read this far, as I doubt this post is nearly as interesting as I seem to think it is. Merrickz
  14. The general gist of his Zeroth law is that magic should stay magical, so yes magic can be bounded by rules but it should still be Awesome e.g. steel-pushing around Elendel, even though the mechanics make sense it is still awesome.
  15. A coincidence with what?
  16. @Mraize thanks, really kind of you to do this. This is excellent proof that the Ghostbloods aren’t just power hungry evil doers, they’re kind members of society too
  17. It might be interesting to get a pitch for joining each faction but that's not particularly important
  18. The history, what each faction stands for, what you do as part of the alleyverse and any other relevant information
  19. So recently I've seen a lot of posts about the "Alleyverse" and from what I've seen it sounds really interesting. So I was wondering if there was a specific post explaining it fully and the factions and whatnot, and if there isn't could someone please explain it here Thanks
  20. Of course, your completely entitled to your opinion and you do make valid points however when you say the other systems are more 'mystical' and 'magical' I would disagree with that I think that the only reason that they are so mystical is that they aren't fully explained yet. I saw the early Mistborn as very mystical but as the 2nd era advanced technology and science the peoples understanding of Allomancy increased to the point where most Scadrian School children could name each metal, its grouping and its effects. Feruchemy, on the other hand, is far less explored by the general populous which means effects such as that of Aluminium and Nicrosil are still steeped in mysticism. Stormlight is a good example of the kind of Magic system that appears mystical at first but as we learn more of it will lose that as we better understand its workings. Surgebinding in Stormlight is (to the people at least) brand new, almost no one in living memory knows about the surges and what they can do but even in Oathbringer we have learned that all Surgebinders have 5 ideals, 1st Ideal: First Power, 2nd Ideal: Second Power, 3rd Ideal: Spren Blade, 4th Ideal: Shardplate, 5th Ideal: Currently Unknown. This shows that any kind of magic is mystical but when you study it and learn more they stop being a form of magic and start to become more like an area of Scholarship. Although I do agree that Era 2 has far more engaging worldbuilding!
  21. So I was wondering I were a Mistborn and there was a long iron girder in front of me when I burn steel would I see a single Allomantic line leading to this beam or would there be lines along its length. Would I be able to push the beam at a single end or would I only be able to push on its centre of mass? Random question but I just wondered
  22. What is the cause of his muteness if you don't mind me asking because if he doesn't have a tongue that may be a way to reveal that he can't speak, e.g. he appears different when eating or someone notices when his mouth opens. If his muteness is caused by something else (e.g. birth defect causing him not to have any vocal chords) then maybe you find out by him not making a noise when he should, e.g. he hurts himself and there's not even a grunt of pain (Admittedly I am not mute and don't know whether you can make a noise or not if you have no vocal chords)
  23. Vacuum or Void?
  24. So I've heard good things about the Magic in Aether of Night and would really like to know about it as it is apparently still canon but I was never able to find a copy of Aether of Night or any description of the magic online. Could someone please explain the magic to me? I would really appreciate it.
  25. I personally prefer Oathbringer, only because its longer and there is more to learn. However I love Bands of Mourning and can't wait for the lost metal
