  1. Do not question my methods. You couldn't possible comprehend. --- I think the only question you had for me was why I thought Fifth's initial vote on Lumgol was suspicious? Mostly for reasons that have already been mentioned, namely that voting on someone for doing mechanical analysis rather than player analysis when no one has posted anything of substance seems a bit off. I really haven't gotten much into the thread today...and I know we're coming up on the end of the cycle...so I'm going to go ahead and place my vote on Fifth since that's where my biggest suspicions currently lie.
  2. And here I am! So, Fifth did pm me asking for a roll claim, and I was about to actually send my claim back, but then some red flags went off for me. So, one of the key aspects of a phishing email is to put a sense of panic in the recipient so that they end up acting without thinking. Part of Fifth's pm to me basically said that if I didn't roll claim directly to him, that would be suspicious. I probably wouldn't have thought too much about it, but the early jump Fifth had on Lumgol D1 rang similar alarms. I feel like most of the time I've seen Fifth in games, I haven't seen these kind of moves, especially this early in the game. Dapper is the other person I am really looking at right now as suspicious...although this one is tough. I don't know if an elim would be this blatant about not providing information helpful to the village, but it would be nice to get a post with some content. For other information, I used my action to acquire essence items.
  3. Good luck Fura! Hope they're able to spell your name before they're able to read you
  4. Who are you to doubt one such as me?! For I am probably just about a step below one who is just a step below a god! --- So, I definitely do have an ellipsis-heavy writing style when I'm not in a more formal environment. As for being hedgy...I'm just trying to be honest. If I came across as 'Yes, I know Lumgol is an elim aha!' on D1, how could you take that seriously? I will pull my vote off Lumgol for now since at least one of my concerns was addressed...and I definitely know what it's like to get lynched for my early playstyle *looks meaningfully at Fifth*. That does now put us at a tie for Fifth and Lumgol...which I also don't like. So, what's happened since I last posted? *ninja Lumgol...looks like no more tie for now* Coop vote on Lum - This one is tough. It's a rather short post without much justification. But I feel like Coop never really makes very long posts. Fura vote on Fifth - Nothing seems off here...just seems a bit light on original content. Lopen vote on Rath - The justification is fair this early. I don't have much more to add than I've already posted in addition to what Fifth and rand have already said. The only thing that seems off to me here is the justification that Lumgol reads village due to the self preservation vote. Not sold on this. Fifth retracts from Lumgol - Responds to about everything in the thread. Backtracks on initial suspicions. Points out the same thoughts I have on Lopen's comment on the self preservation vote. Overall, seems like a good post...and not just because of Fifth's defense of me. Lopen responds - Notes that Fifth's comments on me make sense...asks for more justification on Coop *vote stays on me* Randuir votes on Coop - Notes that the Lumgol suspicion seems valid. Fifth's response is over the top. Confirms that I'm usually hedgy. Ends up with a vote on Coop. Also points out to Levitaph that getting in on analysis early is not uncommon village practice in SE games. Typically helpful early-game Randuir. Lumgol moves vote from Fifth to Coop - Says it's a poke vote, but I think it's as valid a vote at this point on D1 as you can get. (I more think of poke votes as, "Hey, you haven't posted at all...what's going on?" but if the intention is to pull it off Coop with pretty much any response, I can get behind it) Sooo, where does this leave me? Each of the three leading vote-getters right now have reasons I'd consider voting on them. At this point, though, Lumgol and Fifth are providing more overall value right now, so I'm going to move my vote to Coop. Updated vote count: Lumgol (3) - Sart, Levitaph, Coop Fifth (2) - Shqueeves, Fura Coops (3) - Randuir, Lumgol, Rath Rath (1) - Lopen OK, so there's a different tie for now. Edit: Just noticed Lum's use of cremmy. Well played.
  5. Ahhh, sorry, I looked through the rules and the signup thread...completely skipped over your post in this thread. Thanks.
  6. Excellent sentiment. Elandera, I completely agree with you that it's a weak lynch at this point...but most D1 lynches are. Fifth's criticism of Lum is slowly swaying my thoughts that way...but at this point it's worth getting a vote out there...especially since too often when I've said, "I'll get a vote out later this cycle," it results in me not getting a vote in because of something else coming up. At this point, I don't think we were given an explicit ruling on what would happen with a tie vote, so I'm not willing to vote on Fifth to tie things up right now. At the least it can give more people information on me I guess. @Steeldancer, we getting a PAFO for that one? (what happens on a tie vote)
  7. Infighting like this is rarely productive my nephews and nieces. --- So I always find it interesting when D1 turns into a two-person race this early. First, current vote count. Lumgol (3) - Sart, Levitaph, Fifth Fifth (2) - Shqueeves, Lumgol OK, so the votes on Fifth so far don't have much in the way of justification, so I don't think there's much point in analyzing them at this point, especially Lum's vote. The votes on Lum definitely have some justification and to some degree I see what everyone is seeing in Lum's posts... So, let's take a look at those posts. Lum post #1 - First overall post of game - "Bonding could definitely affect activity" - this one seems fairly NAI on its own. Personally, I don't think I've yet seen a game mechanic that truly affected thread activity. People are active or they aren't...and sometimes they'll attempt to hide behind inactivity if they are trying to hide something, but I don't think anything in this game's mechanics are really going to affect that. Lum post #2 - several posts between these posts, mostly check ins and a couple posts discounting Lum post #1 - "Should we get Sja-Anat or the other elims?" - this one seems a bit more suspicious... It's trying to generate conversation on the game...but I, personally, don't think it would end up being overly productive conversation, as a couple other people have implied as well. An elim is an elim and we really aren't going to be able to determine one way or the other whether or not a specific elim is Sja-Anat or just a normal elim unless we run into extra lives. A better question, which Sart brought up and I don't think anyone has answered, is whether we should hammer down anyone who pops up with extra lives. I'm still unsure on my feelings here...either we remove the most powerful elim or the most powerful village if we run into this... Having the Stormfather claim at this point could help...so I'm thinking I'll lean toward 'kill them all' if we find someone with extra lives, but I'll have to reread the rules to make sure there isn't anything else that could mimic this. Anyway, back to the topic of this post...this post by Lum I definitely find a bit suspicious. Lum post #3 - a few posts between...Elandera and I dispute the idea of "focusing" on finding a specific elim, Devotary mentions that Sja-Anat could be easier to find with the extra lives (although we'd still have to find Sja first...) and Shqueeves puts down the random vote on Fifth - "self-preservation vote on Fifth" - Although I think it's still a bit early in the cycle to really be worried about a self preservation vote, I don't see this as anything other than NAI. Lum post #4 - Main post between these is Fifth's vote and analysis on Lum - "Defense" - Mostly NAI, but "...there isn't much to analyze as it is D1..." is a bit off. Yes, there hadn't been a ton of activity for your posts, and I agree that Fifth calling you out on not performing player analysis seems a bit off itself...but don't discount the ability of people to get a decent amount of analysis in once people do start talking about the game and not just RPing and poke voting (which has been surprisingly low so far) In summary... I'm not opposed to a Lum lynch, but I'm obviously not 100% convinced. (OK, I should probably just delete that last sentence since I realize how dumb it sounds to say I'm not 100% convinced on someone being an elim based on D1 conversation...but I'm going to leave it in there since I think it serves as a good reminder that sometimes voting for someone D1 can be good even if you aren't 100% sure...) OK, I'll join for now. Lumgol Currently this is mostly based on post #2 and parts of post #4...so Lum, if you can provide satisfactory defense on those (or if I find someone better to vote on) I'll pull my vote off.
  8. Sja-Anat and all its progeny will surely fall before my might! --- I may be misunderstanding something you're saying, but I'm not sure we can differentiate a strategy at this point...nor do I think we should. Oh, Elandera beat me to it.
  9. My children. Fear not Sja-Anat, for I, the Stormfather('s younger brother) am here to protect you. --- So I just realized that I did not update the thread...but I'm going to attempt to RP as the DrizzleFather, the Stormfather's rather...less impressive younger brother who still has ideas of grandeur. --- OK, first off, this game should be a lot of fun. Definitely going to take a few re-reads of the rules to figure everything out, especially as people start bonding and gaining access to surges. So it seems the Stormfather could have a kind of pseudo scan in the early game (until people have access to surges) but I don't think it's reliable enough to count on that. IF, however, the Stormfather does end up with a failed bond on C1, it would probably be worth it to claim. (I don't think I see anything at this point which would result in a failed bond other than targeting Sja-Anat anyway)
  10. Oh, one more quick question just for clarification. I'm assuming the vote can't be retracted. You actually have to have a vote submitted when the cycle ends. (in other words, I can't say Steel Steel and get my percentage points, right)
  11. I'm in... Going to have to re-read the rules about 7 times I think. I feel like RP is going to be tough for this one. Am I correct in assuming that this will start out with only Sja-anat on the elim team?
  12. OK, I had a great time with this game (very unfortunate I was mostly afk for cycle 1, missed out on a lot of activity) I really enjoyed the JOE mechanic. I will note that when I received the PM notifying me I was converted, I was a bit...uh...overwhelmed. Thought it was quite funny and definitely a good balancing act for what seemed to be a slightly stronger village. I also enjoyed the fact that Eliminators had to be clarified...kind of. The meta is strong with this one. Overall, I would love to see this game (or a version of it) played again, if only to see whether or not the eliminators have a better shot at winning without some rather incredible bad luck on their part. Edit: Oh, wow, just went back and read the last few posts from the final cycle. Walin's role claim is terrific. Literal LOL here.
  13. I know you weren't addressing me...but I'm going to answer anyway...I can't definitively confirm that it was Lumgol that started the faction, although I have no reason to doubt that. I can confirm that when I was converted that I was notified that I retain the village wincon with the stipulation that I do NOT win unless all other villagers are in my faction...and I can now convert an additional person this weekend. (So, I actually ended up being...not so great a person to convert given the fact that I have another good action available to me)
  14. Once the game is complete and you see the full description of my role, you'll see that I do not have the same ability every night and that it made sense to not explain it in full. As it so happens, I did end up with a scan tonight. At this point, I plan on using the scan and have gotten confirmation that the game only allows for one action per night, so I will not be converting anyone to the troll team unfortunately (which may not be the best idea, but I think the scan here is more important...since it could cause me to lose since it seems like we have to be getting close to running out of spammers)
  15. So, I'm torn... I want to provide the opportunity for the tie to happen so that Alv can prove his role...but to make that a reasonable test, I have to vote on myself. At this point, I don't think that's a good choice. :/
  16. I don't either... Like I said when I posted it, I think it was just an unexpected mechanic. I apologize for not following up last night...got hung up at work and then basically crashed when I got home, so I didn't feel comfortable enough with anyone to kill. I'll let you know when we get to the weekend what my new ability is. Edit: Guess I should have read page 2 before responding. Metabardnition actually has noted a very high possibility there. I didn't post N1, so the redirect role would have grabbed my action I believe. Ouch... OK. As for Rand's question as to why I though the role name was reasonable, it was because I didn't see a definitive pattern. Yes, I saw that usernames were used between my own role and the one dead person's role, but 2 data points doesn't necessarily result in a pattern (although, yes, I know, 2 points determine a line...) - the fact that my own name wasn't exactly like the other (sorry, since this is an edit, apparently it's tough to quote in the edit) made me feel it was reasonable that the names didn't necessarily follow a pattern.
  17. Ahh, I see. Helps to read the full line in the writeup instead of just 'xx is dead'... (I'm really bad about skimming over writeups unfortunately) I'd like to see who your list of suspects is and I'll see if I think anyone is worth attacking.
  18. So you want me to attack a random person to prove that I'm a villager? I don't think that makes much sense since Babaji could easily pass that test. Well, technically neither looking at the exact wording of the PM...not sure how close it would be to quoting GM PM to say the exact role at this point (I think I would have been fine if I had said it initially, but I'm relatively certain we're not allowed to use exact wording from GM PM to prove anything...thought that came up in a recentish game as well). @A Joe in the Bush - could you give me a ruling on this? Am I able to provide the exact wording of my role?
