Still, metal lines effectively replace sight for Inquisitors. Might be a good question to ask.
-
To the topic at hand, all Feruchemical abilities seem to shield you somewhat from the overloads of their effects. Pewter makes your bones stronger to handle the increased muscle mass, your body gets somewhat stronger to bear increased weight from iron, etc. It's not out of the realm of possiblity that steel increases your balance enough to deal with the increased speed. I wonder if you are able to think at the same speed you can move, though. The two times we get a Sazed PoV when he taps speed, he does seem to think quickly... but against Marsh he was tapping zinc too, I thought.

Huh, I'm reading this a different way. I think that Odium needs to tie his Identity to a Shardworld for natives to access his magic, or to be considered part of the natural balance of that world. Hence no metals, since Scadrial has no outlet for Odium's power right now.

Gentlemen, Inquisitors have good enough senses with steel to distinguish, vaguely, colors. They can tell when someone is sweating. I really don't find it all that hard to believe that they are talented enough to figure out that kandra aren't made of the same things as humans. On a secondary note, anyone ever asked what burning tin does to Inquisitor sight? Because that could be the secret.
-
I'm thinking more the basic metals in a human body probably differ enough from the metals in a kandra's body (diet alone should provide some variance), that Inquisitors can spot them easily. They might even have training in it, since I doubt the Lord Ruler would have wanted kandra infiltrating the Ministry on behalf of the nobility. That could have spoiled the Trust.

Random thought: Remember when Preservation's mind was reduced to pretty much nothing, and the mists started Snapping people? Sazed makes a mention about how without a mind to control it, Preservation's power just acted on it's last directive, with the result that it couldn't stop itself from Snapping those who wouldn't survive the process. What if Adonalsium was something similar, and that's why the Shards now have personalities attached? Maybe the whole goal of shattering Adonalsium in the first place is the people who picked up the Shards, to provide some kind of guidance to the universe. Maybe Rayse wasn't supposed to be part of that group, and that's why Hoid holds a grudge against him. What if each Shardworld is actually a microcosm for "How I could run the universe"? Maybe picking up the Shards altered the original people enough that the grand plan fell apart.

Ye gods do these not even remotely fit with the other metals... Which are supposed to internal, which are supposed to be external? Which Push, which Pull? I'm all for fangasming a fifth group of metals in, but these break so many established Allomancy rules...
-
Has anyone ever considered that during the square scene, where do you think most of the Soothing station staff were? Instead of just the Lord Ruler Soothing everyone, it could be that his extra powerful Soothings were already working on a pre-Soothed crowd.

Allomantic strength is a factor as well. Elend can Push harder than Vin could at an equal weight. See the bit in HoA where Elend gets into a Pushing match with an Inquisitor. I'm not sure what your point is though, if Wax is lighter, he should have less weight to Push with and fly less far. What it seems happens though is that when he stores weight, the basic Allomantic Push does more, because the basic strength of the Push (not factoring in weight, just the actual strength of the Push) has less weight to deal with.

I guess the major advantage of pewter is that caught barehanded with just your metals, you have a better chance against most opponents as a Thug than a Coinshot. However, with guns becoming prevalent on Scadrial, maybe that's not as big an advantage anymore.

Inquisitors can see metal lines much more clearly than other allomancers. I always figured that was the tell. As for making a dinosaur, yes they probably could. Would they be able to mimic the muscle structures necessary to get a dinosaur moving? That's another question entirely.

It could simply be that Hoid was able to prevent a lot of the pain and suffering on Scadrial by telling what he knows, and doesn't. Hoid so far has done the least possible to help the various Shardworlds, and it doesn't seem like helping them survive their various troubles is his main goal. Kelsier, however... he at the end was selfless enough to sacrifice himself for his people. I don't see Hoid doing that so far.
-
That's interesting since the most subtle things I have noticed in the Cosmere actually seem to benefit the heroes. Kelsier's snapping, Raoden's noticing Aon Rao... I wonder if the anti-Adonalsium could actually be the good guy?
-
Hm. I kind of like that. I'm also leaning towards a break in causality, robbing all actions and effects from appropriate meanings.
-
Now that I think about it, what opposes basically Creation? Non-existence? Even complete entropy would equal Ruin, no?
-
In reading the AMA on Reddit, the one answer that popped out to me was one about Adonalsium. WoB here seems to indicate that there is an equal and opposite force to Adonalsium... so what if Shards like Odium aren't of Adonalsium, but are of this opposite force? Sort of like some spren are part Cultivation and part Honor?
-
Probably more than you could not light. Your muscles don't lose strength, so you should be applying more force to a lighter object. It's odd that we haven't seen it, though Wax's steelpushes with his lighter body seem to have a greater effect.
-
Well, besides Marsh's very good reasons for burning bronze instead of copper. Pewter is handy, but honestly being a Feruchemist gives you most of the same abilities.
-
I thought word of Brandon was that atium usually imparts a temporal effect. Also Bonatium's feruchemical effect is basically iron, isn't it?
-
I mean less, the Outer Dominances are hit pretty hard by koloss. Those little villages seem to lean towards the Ministry, but those are the same villages that Ruin is using to make koloss.

Compared to Kelsier, I would wager around the time that Kelsier assumes Preservation's power, Rashek has maybe a few less followers. Why? Survivorism was mainly a Luthadel and the surrounding area religion, and it never seemed to penetrate the farming communities that never really dealt with Kelsier. Look at Sazed's WoA or Elend's HoA viewpoints when they go to small villages. Many peasants seemed to want Rashek to return to protect them. With the world ending, a lot of people seem to have fallen back to Ministry teachings.

Each Knights Radient order had a different function.

Hrm... maybe that explains the limit on Regrowth. If it was just fueled by available Stormlight, the whole gem carrier idea is really a bit silly. But if it IS a fabrial mimicking the powers of another order, then there would be a limit to how much you could use the fabrial before you begin to have issues with keeping infused gemstones of the right kind in it. Ok, I'm sold on her being a Stonewarden. -
So where's Rashek under this theory? He's still worshipped as god by a lot of people, even up to AoL. Shouldn't he be hanging around somewhere too?

Is Dalinar the best judge of what is and what isn't a fabrial? He's not as well versed in the art as Navani, and most of his experience is in times of chaos or times where there's not likely to be a lot of fabrials around. Also consider that maybe pre-Honor dying, the spren used in most modern day fabrials could have been rarer or non-existent. I always figured the female Radiant is using some kind of Soulcaster or fabrial. Regardless, she doesn't seem like a Windrunner or Stonewarden to me, but I guess we'll see. -
So not soon enough before Gavilar's death for a tradition to grow up around dying requests. Unless the dying comments happen every Desolation.
