  1. This is that quote you posted earlier, thinking more on it this still sounds at least very spren-like Yes they are Spren, they are Splinters, I meant they don't seem to represent any ideas like Syl, or Windspren are. Windspren represent wind, they are the idea of the wind - Unmades aren't attracted to anything, they don't represent ideas, they just are. It's hard to come up with this relation between each unmade and some idea, something that is easily recognisable for any other Spren living on Roshar. That's because Unmades aren't a "natural" creation, they didn't develop being shaped by perception of people, they were something, then they were corrupted and unmade by Odium.
  2. Yeah, that's a more reasonable possibility. Per WoB posted earlier here, they all together are parallel to the Stormfather/Nightwatcher, but alone they aren't that invested. I think you do think in the wrong direction. They aren't Spren (I mean not like Syl is an Honorspren, or Windspren are about winds - Unmades don't represent ideas), they are Unmades, they were unmade. We should search for what kind of being they were before they were unmade. But that's hard because we know nothing and they also know nothing about their own past.
  3. Could you provide a quote? It's not in the OB ch 30, when Shallan confronts Re-Shephir. It is only said that the Unmade is fascinated by humans and began imitating them. It was also said that it feared imprisonment as she was imprisoned. Also this little word caught my attention: Alien?? You mean she's alien to Roshar? That's a solid argument for the theory about Unmades/Re-Shephir originating outside of the Rosharan system. Dalinar had the same kind of contact with the Thrill.

    Returning

It's hard to explain without going into general Cosmere spoilers, but in the world they don't know it yet. What we know is that the voice Lightsong heard after his death is someone who gives some people a chance to Return. This is done by investing/giving those people a powerful Divine Breath (one Breath worth 2500 Breaths), which staples their soul back to their bodies, bringing them back to life. Warbreaker ch 57: Very slight Cosmere spoilers about the mechanic of Returning:
  5. Apparently they can be called the same alloy - different types of Shardblades have different amounts of Honor and Cultivation in them, yet they all are considered as the same alloy. That's a valid way of looking at alloys from the metallurgic perspective - an alloy doesn't have a fixed proportion, you can have the metal proportion in a certain range and still consider them as the same alloy, for example steel. They do, but it doesn't matter for him, he died and became a Cognitive Shadow. His soul was basically fossilized - it was invested and replaced by Preservation's investiture. He is now 100% of Preservation. But you can technically argue for both cases, it isn't known if the soul is copied or it stays and is massively invested. Either way, he is at least 99.9% of Preservation now.
  6. I don't think so. He's a Cognitive Shadow made out of Preservation's investiture, it would be Lerasium.
  7. Cultivation has found a new way (and I know it won't turn out to be something good). Other alternatives always exist. You can try to gather all 4 Dawnshard and just Splinter Odium as the last resort. More or less stable. The situation has not changed in the last 7000 years or so. It's not ideal, that's true, Odium is a problem, others are making problems, but this isn't nearly as bad as a Cosmere wide war with Shards being killed left and right. I would not be surprised if one side in the future conflict might propose a solution to just Splinter all Shards to tiny pieces, so no mortal could ever hold powers of gods. Mortals should not be gods. What are Kelsier's goals? To protect Scadrial at whatever cost it takes. And yet there was one price he was not willing to pay - try to warn the government or Harmony about Set's plans. Would Kelsier destroy Taldain and all who live there, if it meant the end of Autonomy's attempt to conquer Scadrial? If the answer is yes, I would not want to join him. Why only Scadrial deserves to be protected, but other places not? Kelsier is a Cognitive Shadow, over time he will become obsessed with his goal like a spren, his judgment will be blurred. He's not a "safe" person to follow, even if his goals are noble, he achieves them by spilling blood. But if I were to choose between Hoid or Kelsier, I think I would choose Kelsier. He is more charismatic, more understandable, more open, with trust being the foundation of his crew - and he won't insult you every morning. Hoid is just the opposite. Sigzil wasn't important nor invested and yet was chosen as Hoid's apprentice. Let's just assume we have the opportunity for the sake of argument.
  8. It's because we don't know which story is true and which is a lie/exaggeration. We can't take his words for a fact:
  9. I understand it all, I know it's not an in-world term, but I see no problems with it being developed there. It can originate as a combination of terms Mistborn + Full Feruchemist. That's so simple. The more science and technology on Scadrial advances, the less they will look at the mysticism of Metalborn, the less likely they are to come up with reasons like the word Mistborn has, instead they will be looking for something simple and understandable by all. Fullborn is one such word, naming it after Rashek in some way is also very reasonable, as you proposed. However the downside of naming people with both full powers after Rashak is that they would carry his legacy in their title - and that's a legacy of a god-emperor, enslaving the entire world, brutally executing all those who opposed him. I don't think anyone would want to refer to this, it can spark some power hungry ideas in future Fullborns. It's safer not to call them after Rashek. And yes, I agree, it's fun.
  10. That too and they can compound all metals. Double meaning!
  11. I think it would be very hard to independently learn about Hemalurgy, with no Shardic intervention. But it is still possible. You need two things: one is jealousy - someone has powers that you want and you start to think if you can steal that from them - the second is lots of Atium, or another way to see the future. Yup, future sight helps with Hemalurgy. Once you have that mindset "I want to steal that," looking into the future might uncover the art of Hemalurgy to you. Randomly stabbing people with spikes won't really work if you don't have this specific mindset, or can't see the future. If this mindset alone is enough to provide needed intent (which is possible) you would be never able to guess the correct binding point to both steal a power and then graft it. Either way, future sight would help.
  12. No, because I have no storming idea what his goal is! How can I join him if I don't know what he plans? He said that he would sacrifice all of Roshar if that means achieving his goals, 100 million people - this cost is too great, that's another no from me. I can help him keep Odium imprisoned in a way that would not cause eternal war on Roshar, or destroy the planet, but I won't join him - we cooperate, keep him in check and then part our way. But that's not Hoid's ultimate plan, that’s just a sidequest. Nobody knows what he wants. I need to know to decide. If Hoid wants to restore Adonalsium, something that many on this forum believed to be very likely, then I want to know what would be the consequences of this action. Cosmere right now seems more or less stable, to recombine Adonalsium you would need to collect all Shards - that means war, that means killing all current Vessels, that would be devastating. Would Adonalsium be restored or would some other entity be created? Would a Vessel be needed, or would it be self-aware and conscious? If a Vessel is needed, who would it be? Hoid? Big no from me. And what would that new Adonalsium do after recreation? We don't know at all - he can just start killing all who opposed his rebirth (Roko's basilisk situation), or all that hold powers and knowledge that can be used against him, to prevent another Shattering - he doesn't have to be a good guy, he would hold all power, there is almost no force able to stop. Shards at least can be stopped by other Shards. We have no idea what a new Adonalsium would do, we have only a slight idea how much devastation and death would be needed to achieve that goal. Therefore I would not join him, I would side with the 17th Shard and Frost instead, to oppose Hoid.
  13. I don't see any problem with the name Fullborn, it's catchy, easy to say, easy to understand - we still call Eland a Mistborn even though he wasn't born a Mistborn, so why is there a problem with Rashek being a Fullborn? It's the shortened version of a Full Metalborn. God? Nope, let's not go in that way again. Ok, just hear me out - Allpounder!
  14. I'm sure Miles would heal his entire body in the same way, if it was crushed like Renarin was. Not to mention Miles blew himself up with a dynamite and came out unscratched - again, they are both comparable in my opinion. Somewhat comparable, but that took Wayne several painful moments, his legs were broken, his spine too, he couldn't see - it took a relatively long time for him to heal. BoM ch I was just writing that while reading your post - yes, that's probably even closer to what Renarin did. Miles lost his clothes, Wax barely escaped, was thrown by the explosion, bloodied, numb and almost deaf. AoL ch 18:
  15. Goo? Definitely not. It seems like Renarin wasn't really crushed because he cut Thunderclust's palm as he was being crushed, so he had to be able to move his upper body, so at least that part of his wasn't crushed. I think Renarin's feat is comparable to Miles instantly healing bones as they break - he has improved healing comparable to a gold Savant healing, which in my opinion is quite reasonable and still very impressive. I believe that's the upper level of healing that one can achieve without Shard's direct involvement. OB ch 120: AoL ch 15:
  16. Yes, not possible. Ryshadium already has a bond with some Lesser Spren, this bond increases their intelligence, but that still not enough to become a Radiant - you need full sapience to be a Radiant:
  17. We don't know what a copper Savant could do, but this seems possible. A skilled bendalloy Misting can manipulate the size of his bubble and the time shift it does - not even a Savant, Wayne did that in TLM. I'm not sure about the density part, but a Savant would be more powerful than normal Misting, so their Copperclouds would be more resilient to piercing anyway. WoB about bendalloy bubbles: A skilled Smoker can shield other people from emotional Allomancy:
  18. I think Kaladin at one point mentioned something about not healing a Shardblade cut because it would consume too much Stormlight. So maybe with the right intent they would be able to do that too.
  19. I agree, I did write this later in that post. I think this part was because I misunderstood that Kelsier is manifested as both a Shardspike and a body at the same time. But a Shardspike stuck into another person can do what Fused do to Singers (that's a good example, I haven't thought of that, I was thinking of Yumi).
  20. This idea wasn't really popular by scientists back during the Manhattan project and very, very generous calculations proved it to be impossible under any real scenario. Harmony even admitted he has no idea how much power it has. He was panicked, blinded, without his future vision, not knowing what this bomb can really do - this claim can be safely rejected. Telsin also believed that both cities could have been destroyed if the bomb went off. So I think a medium estimate that both cities would get destroyed can be used. TLM ch 69: If we compare that on nukemap to the real world - its terrifying. This is overlaid onto LA. There would be earthquakes for thousands of miles, tsunamis in the pacific, wildfires for thousands of miles, radiation clouds across most of the americas at least. San Bernadino is 100km away on this map. If those were the only population centers, this bomb could easily wipe out both cities. I hope this gives some idea of the destruction. It's more. Both moderate and light blast damage radius of a surface explosion isn't within 80 km value (thermal radiation too). So if we want to have both of those cities destroyed, the bomb has to be even bigger to destroy it by the blast damage alone. But truthfully it's really hard to estimate the value if the characters in the book were just guessing, they could have been wrong and vastly overestimate its power, or underestimate it - like with the Castle Bravo test. Realistically speaking, I think Brandon would want to keep the power of the bomb within a more manageable level of real fusion bombs, so 100 Mt can be a limit. I wouldn’t be surprised if Peter had real values calculated.
  21. I think they are pretty much comparable. We saw Shallan getting shot in the face with a bolt and still "functioning," we see Miles getting shot in his head and not even flinching. Miles was healing his cracked bones as they were cracking. Miles can't even feel pain anymore. But Miles has a little advantage over Stormlight healing, he is not just a gold compounder, he is also a Savant. But non-Savant compounders should be on the same level of healing as efficient Radiant healing.
  22. It's really hard to say what damage the fully operational bomb would do. It didn't go off. Telsin or Harmony said that if it were to explode in between Bilming and Elendel, it would destroy both cities. That's a lot of power, they are around 160 km away so their yield would have to be bigger than the Tsar Bomb. But we have no real data so we don't really know what would happen. However, we can estimate what power the explosion Wayne had. It falls within the range of the Beirut explosion, of around 1 kt. Here are some topics about it:
  23. We don't know what burning those metals would do. Burning Atium grants you just a vision of the future, not any invested art. Judging by Harmonium's physical properties, it seems that a Shard has no control over what their god metal does - it just naturally manifests based on Shard's intent, their Vessel and their interactions with the planet they are invested it.
  24. Well, unfortunately no plans for years to come: Yes, I love Rithmatist, it's really good, the magic system is so fun and I just want more of it. But we will be waiting a long time for the sequel.
  25. Most likely not. The only type of magic that would have a big problem with using it off-world is Elantris - you need to hack it to make it work in other places, but not by messing with your own spirit web. Yes. Lerasium is burnable by anyone. That's it. God metals are in general burnable by "anyone," but it's unclear if that means any Allomancer, or any person in Cosmere (I believe it's any Allomancer). But Lerasium can be burnt by anyone in Cosmere and that would make them a Mistborn. Those are fundamental properties of god metals, you don't need to be a Mistborn to burn them (that's the reason for Atium retcon, Atium in Era 1 was not a pure god metal, it was Atium-electrum alloy, otherwise it should be burnable by "anyone").
