Why we have not seen dragons (because maybe we have...)
Storyspren replied to ZenBossanova's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Buzz-kill but maybe sho-del are just aimians or Parshmen etc. -
For the record, Adolin and Shallon are surely doomed, since one of them basically has to be killed off. Since Adolin is as close to perfect as you can get in the cosmere, he'll probably die first. (One measly murder? I mean come on! It's like him and Wayne tied for top two warrior hippies.) But then for reasons others have stated shallon and Kal wouldn't work unless his depression gets medicated or cured etc. So they'll probably hook up once after Adolin gets martyred but it'll end in disaster. The Kal gets cured but by then he's with someone else. Obviously Syl. Source: none References: none WOBS: none

I think you just cured me of wondering about at old not-exactly-relationship's potential in other possible worlds.
-
Oh that's right. I remember that part. I refuse to believe that Captain Sanderson does pure flavor interludes. This has to have some bearing on some important something or other.
-
That's basically my entire basis for it too. "Quantum Hoid" - I just want to say it over and over.
-
This brings up a pressing question that keeps bothering me. Why would Adonalsium not prevent his own death? Maybe to experience limitations like the cobbler dude's "the one?" Maybe to hide from a bigger, more serious threat than the conspirators who killed him? On my crazy theory it's to give rise to himself but any combo makes things interesting.
-
Getting on record another crazy Hoid theory here. Several Spren note that that once they discover things they always knew. Which is weird and has been noted as very quantumy. Maybe Hoid isn't trying to RE-form Adonalsium, but form Adonalsium, as it were, in the first place. Maybe he's trying to make it always have been the case that Adonalsium was and will be thus and so and WILL HAVE always been thus and so once it's determined. Which in one sense it already has been but in another sense not. So technically reforming Adonalsium would only be a partial description of his goal. All evidence for him reforming Adonalsium is consistent with this crazy theory. And it would provide a story reason for some of the vague quantum weirdness. To be clear, on this theory Hoid doesn't have to BE Adonalsium. What do you guys think? Too much coffee?

Surely there is more to Teft's backstory than we've seen so far. Thus it has something to do with some kind of powers or something. Thus his spren has been following him around at least for longer than revealed in the book. Q.e.d. I suspected him of being a herald back in the good old days before book 2. Same for Rock minus the Herald bit.

Oh my jeese to peas! Death! You're right!

Oh I didn't mean to say it was common. Only that returned-ception isnt ruled out by lack of God murder pretty breath-giving. We even have a potential returned-ception-ee in Blushweaver, though I rather think she fulfilled why she came back. To me it's the seeing the future possibilities in the spiritual that really reduces the odds of returned-ception. But not to zero. (As we've seen various levels of seeing the future even between shards.)

[OB] Ishar: insane, misguided, or working for Odium?
Storyspren replied to dantlee's topic in Stormlight Archive
Crazy Conspiracy Option: Ishar is sane, has an agreeable end game in mind, and is the biggest liar in the whole series apart from Hoid. The stormfather isn’t on board with Ishar’s goals, and thinks Ishar is crazy because of either the goals/means or becaus ishar has deliberately deceived the storm father and others (being, on this theory, the second biggest liar ever apart from Hoid). -
Team Syladin reporting in. Carry on then.

I think that whole amaram fight was setting up for precisely a kind of Uber Bad you speak of.

[OB] The Army of the Dead (Warbreaker Spoilers)
Storyspren replied to Fifth of Daybreak's topic in Stormlight Archive
You’ve almost got to be right don’t you? At least a few awakened statutes of soul cast light eyes could be awakened and maybe fight the thunderclasts. It would not surprise me if vasher weren’t the one who originally suggested that people should be turned to stone. -
Murder is probably more common where novel worthy action is happening though. See Blushweaver.

[OB] Azure's Identity (+Warbreaker spoilers)
Storyspren replied to Beggar's topic in Stormlight Archive
Hope the skybreakers don’t know whatever she does presumably does. Maybe his crime was letting Nightblood out of the family? My guess is though that whatever it is happens between warbreaker and WoK as opposed to referencing eg historical events. -
Maybe her almost Spren could give Venli a flashback from eshonai’s sort of POV.
-
Siri and Susebron were only prearranged by an odd technicality. Not sure they count.

See, my thought is that even the other original gods after the splinter/who killed adolnalsium were being tricked by Midius at the time. So they don’t know he held Adolnalsium. Literally only Hoid would know, on this theory. “So he conspired to kill himself?” Yes, that’s the theory, or held the power at some other time than for the god-murder, unbeknownst to the other murderers.
-
So suspicious. First Hoid checks to see if Dalinar recognizes the word Adonalsium. Now a herald swears by Adonalsium. Add to that Hoid saying there is a God who swears by HIM (Hoid/Wit etc.), I’m now firmly in the camp of Hoid held Adonalsium at least at one point but the Heralds don’t know that. Wouldnt be surprised if Shallan, unbeknownst to her caught a Herald in her drawings somewhere. (Did she ever draw Vasher?) But it seems like Hoid provided the sketches. (Thus poking a big hole in my “hoid is an illusion” pet theory.)

[OB] Taravangian and the Diagram -- not what we think?
Storyspren replied to taxilian's topic in Stormlight Archive
Understood that. The evidence you quote comes, crucially, after the following: “Taravangian looked up and there, glowing in front of him, was a set of words. A message from himself, in the past. Incredible! Had he somehow seen even this? Thank you.” Excerpt From Oathbringer Brandon Sanderson https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/oathbringer/id1198279804?mt=11 This material may be protected by copyright. So his approach is to say whatever is necessary to implement whatever it was he understood from the diagram. It’s not selling out the rest of humanity if it’s a lie from the beginning. -
[OB] Taravangian and the Diagram -- not what we think?
Storyspren replied to taxilian's topic in Stormlight Archive
But he never ever puts it that way in his POVs. His internal monologue is surely controlling. Not to mention that neither Cultivation nor her daughter would have given him the knowledge/power to rampage round the world just to save his own people. Cultivation’s plans for Big T can’t be to help odium can they? It was always a doublecross by cultivation from the beginning. She sent big T in as an agent because that’s what would fulfill both the boon he asked for and her own goals. -
[OB] Taravangian and the Diagram -- not what we think?
Storyspren replied to taxilian's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yeah that’s what II thought. His story is a mirror to Dalinars. II worry though that we are too caught up in “the end justifies the means” being bad. We’re not talking about two innocent men and one guilty here. We’re talking about the end of the world. Saving the most people we can possibly save in an Armageddon situation. Extinction, you work against it right? -
[OB] Cosmere Crossovers, and the deal with Hoid
Storyspren replied to Naerin's topic in Stormlight Archive
Hoid/wit has appeared as a weird possibly magic dude who is around for some other reason but drops in to see you since he’s there over and over in WoK and WoR. If we didn’t already know him from other books he’d be the number one or two topic of speculation anyway. Dead shardblades cant be cool for 10 books. We need dead shard blades from book one to see why other things like honor blades, zombie blades (adolin), toddler blades (night blood), gluten-cruelty free blades (vivennas new one she’s trading Spren the tech for) and True-death blades (Moash’s new toy). Nightblood in the context of magic blades on roshar is just no more mysterious than anything else. Future generations will treat Stormlight Archives like lord of the rings. The entire rest of the cosmere is the simillarian lost tales etc. sorry for capitalization and typos baby “sleeping” on me
