It's been a while so I may be miss remembering but... I was thinking how in Sunlit man we found out Sig was briefly a Dawnshard (WaT; Exist), previously held by Hoid and presumably still is. In Sunlit we learn the Dawnshard passed on several gifts or abilities to Sig even though he no longer holds it.. Like being able to consume any investiture and hold it or convert it to a stable way similar to breaths, with an incredible upper limit - I'm thinking the upper limit is ascension. It's a safe guess to assume Hoid has these gifts and more considering he's most likely still a Dawnshard. Theoretically; Hoid could tap into his Elantrian powers, such up as much Dor as he wants and convert it to this stable investiture. So as of Tress, Hoid could be metaphorically sitting on a tonne of investiture, more than enough to Exist-Dawnshard teleport, and he could easily top up as needed... Right?

When I first read this i thought of Shallan, with the twins being Adolins And the more I thought about it.. Regarding the memory wipe, I'm sure Hoid could do it in a several ways, heck he's an Elantrian at this point. But it wouldn't surprise me if Shallan could be capable of a kind of self forgery, at least in a "cognitive" manner.

In universe they dont know it was an Atium alloy, so a seer is still an "Atium" misting as far as they / we are concerned in that respect. IIRC, they were actually electrum mistings. Which opens up the possibility of mistings being capable of burning their God metal alloy counterparts, which as far as im aware can't be burned by everyone like pure god metals - e.g. end of HoA.
-
Due to the Atium retcon we don't really know what it does other than Allomantically, which apparently is shown at the end of HoA. The retcon was due to Mr S wanting God metals to be burned by anyone (like Lerasium) and the Atium we saw is now an Atium / electrum alloy. There's an older WoB where he says that we haven't seen what Lerasium actually does allomanticically, making you a mistborn was a side affect. Which kinda contradicts the above retcon.. Still, I'm curious to know what happened to those Honorblade chips Nightblood made. Do they reform when the honorblade is dismissed or are there little bits of Tanavastium lying about? That can be burned by anyone..!
-
At the end of WoK Talns Honorblade is described as a giant spike, there was even theories of it being possibly related to hemalurgy. And in WaT it's described as a giant wedge. I'm curious at the discrepancy.. Thoughts?

He is claimed by another.

I too have this on my Valor conspiracy board, with lines connection to Nohadon, the warm light (that only appeared after large battles Dalinar was directly involved in) and the letters. Regarding the letters, something that's not really talked about is how both Harmony and Endowment were able to locate and communicate with Valor, presumably recently. And Honor and Todium are unable to find her over 1000s of years, it's as if she's hiding from Roshar.. Also, Valor asks Endowment for help. I wonder what she needed from a Shard that makes little gods out of dead people..?- 50 replies

Shallan and Melaan
Hoids Imaginary Friend replied to Hoids Imaginary Friend's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yeah, I was thinking that's because she was outside of the Roshars cognitive perimeter. But now.. maybe Roshars CR has been as drastically changed as the PR? Interesting how your quote says that it's not how it's supposed to be don't you think? I also think it's interesting that Harmony sent her a letter when he can directly speak to a Kandra. Also, they're not just in the CR. Based on the lights like alive cold fires implies there's people on the other side. P.s. my ebook won't let me copy text for this book -
I was thinking about the timelines since Retribution and realised if Melaan did go to Roshar it could match with Shallan being in the peeks at the end. Rereading both sections (lost Metal and WaT).. Melaan: she's their to save some lost people, notes they have strange clothes and most of the "people" have Red hair. We theorised back when it came out this was the hornet's peeks and I'm now all in Shallan: she barely comments on anyone and the only notable thing is the local currency being tiny bits of metal.. Bit of a coincidence we have an immortal shapeshifting spy and Shallan in close proximity, eh.? Soooo, what's the chances we get a Shallan and Melaan buddy cop, spy thriller / drama? Yeah we're still waiting on the Horneater novella but still, could be a fun novella between arcs (books 5 and 6).

Unite them, feels like a let down
Hoids Imaginary Friend replied to neshua_kadal's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Chapter 77, Dalinar thinks the command "unite them" wasn't from the Stormfather or Honer but a God that once existed and might yet, if not in a form people recognised. Feels like this Uniting business is yet to be concluded.. -
But we're the Chasmfiends attracted to the pool or the remnents of the 4th moon with its mysterious metal? The Chasmfiends don't appear very odius to me.. It could also be why that location is important, for the pool and other reasons. Maybe the metal helps hide the pool or vice versa or both..? It does beg the questions of what's up with this metal with interesting implications and who "owns" it

Just reread the Shadsmer fight and it sounds like Nightblood got pulled into the CR with Szeth, whilst still existing in the PR. Nightblood says he sunk into beads and landed on something hard by a wall.. I'm thinking he doesn't always exist in both realms but can be projected into both similar to Spren. So technically we haven't seen him physically go into the CR, though I'm inclined to think it's the same. Also, we're glossing over Nightblood helping Szeth manipulate the beads when he was out of Stormlight. Though I'm unclear if Nightblood does it or just helps.? Either way, the energy to manipulate beads is coming from Nightblood.

Do Shards have unique abilities?
Hoids Imaginary Friend replied to Hoids Imaginary Friend's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Haven't heard that, which is cool. But! Though it's suggestive, he doesn't say anything about unique powers a Shard may have, which we see with Honors power Binding the Shards as I've pointed out in the OP. I was hoping to open a discussion theorising what the other Shards "unique" power could be, and I don't think your rebuttal dismisses this idea. El's interlude shows Odium talking to him in his mind, I think this is what @Trusk'our's comment is talking about. -
When the 3 Roshar Shards initially make an agreement, we see Honors power rush out and bind the Shards. All 3 Shards are surprised by this and Cultivation comments that after thousands of years they don't really understand their powers. So it appears that Honor has a unique power to bind oaths (obviously). But what if all Shards also have a unique ability? What do you think they'd be?

Vargoium?

It was stated that the windrunner honerblade was corrupted, so it's probably now made of.. Taravangian? Your point still stands, just pointing it out. Still, a probable and cool fight. I'm gunna bet on Marsh. Compounding is a hell of drug.

Hoid is wrong (Full Spoilers)
Hoids Imaginary Friend replied to Hoids Imaginary Friend's topic in Cosmere Discussion
@alder24 well there goes that theory Thank you for the comprehensive citation -
@Calten_Gnomercy RoW chapter 114: Tefts funeral, the sibling said there was a locked room, where ancient Radiants forever stood as stone sentries. My ebook won't let me copy it, but the proof is there.
-
Not surprising.. Lift, a mere Radiant beats a full Feruchemist, which he obviously lost to. As to his breaths..? I'm still banking on my theory from years ago that he'll awaken all those Radiant statues!

Hoid is wrong (Full Spoilers)
Hoids Imaginary Friend replied to Hoids Imaginary Friend's topic in Cosmere Discussion
What I was getting at is he was wrong about the affects of Harmonys merging and now only has one point of reference for this phenomenon. There's no pattern or basis to back this up and therefore, could also be wrong regarding Retribution. -
At the end when Hoid hears about the time bubble he muses how strange things happen when something happens to a Shard and likens it to Harmonys ascending where the world was remade. We know that's not true, Scadrial was remade by a concious effort of Sazed and not a direct result of Harmonys ascension. Which means he's most likely wrong a out Retributions ascension creating the time bubble. Given that the bubble is working against Retribution I doubt it's him. It seems most likely Harmony was involved with time bubbles being apart of his magic systems and him being another dual Shard, though he does have problems acting due to his powers. But..! What if that red miasma he showed Wax at the end of BoM wasn't about Trell? What if its Harmon, a Shard with as much if not more power than Retribution (alot of splinters he wasn't able to suck up), is maintaining the time bubble? it would be about a decade on Scadrial at this point since Retribution was formed right?

My theory is Nohadon became an Avatar of Valor, an Avatar has the power to create and throw people into visions. It wouldn't be surprising that Valor has an interest in Dalinar, which why I also think he was saved by Valor in the end and to become an Avatar. Why Valor? Tanavast thought she would be most willing to help but couldn't find her.. And if all the Shards are like Odium and have a kind of omnipresence with regards to seeing where their intent is inspired throughout the Cosmere, she'd have to notice Roshar, a planet in eternal war. We also have some solid hints at a 4th Shard meddling, during the clash between Honor and Odium that shattered the Plains. Tanavast noticed would could be a 4th moon (on a planet where moons represent the gods), a mysterious metal with interesting implications, and a power that resonated with this clash.. under the shattered plains. Where led to believe the Chasmfiends were drawn there because of Odiums pool, but they don't seem very Odius do they? They kind of remind me of Vikings; communal, caring, love a good fight / challenge. Interestingly, Dalinar notes the Highprinces don't seem to care about the war on the Plains, they see it as sport / challenge.. On top of the Nohadon vision that was sent by an unknown entity we also have that strange vision at the end of WoR where Dalinar 1st saw the warm light, which is after the huge battle on the Plains. At the end of Oathbringer, again after a bug battle where Dalinar rejects Odium he sees the warm light but this time in the physical realm, which has interesting implications (though I don't think it's mentioned again.?) Could that warm light be Valor? Maybe it's warm in color, like a yellow orange, e.g. Valorlight (Glory light?)

Nightblood
Hoids Imaginary Friend replied to Ookla the Invariably Tired's topic in Stormlight Archive
Another interesting implication, in the shadesmere fight, Szeth was out of stormlight and Nightblood "helped" him create a bridge out of spheres.. -
Is Syl just an honourspren?
Hoids Imaginary Friend replied to LeondeBowa's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yeah she is a splinter, was just trying to explain her changes at the end and adding more from another splinter could fit.
