  1. I like it. I would suggest add the weakness. We are trying to see if the system will work, so I think we need to aim for more power, as opposed to less (even though that's what I did). Also
  2. Thank you for expressing that more clearly and succinctly then I ever could.
  3. Ok. My guys name is Bill the actor. Don't read the spoiler until after you create your character @Kidpen. I would usually flesh them out more before writing them this way, but the basis of his character is here.
  4. @Kidpen Sure, but which set of rules? Also, are we trying to break them or make them work? Also I wont be able to do much for a while tommorow, i'm free after 1:30 est, but not much else.
  5. Sure, but I think that the arena will be a different environment then another thread. If I was in a fight that was planned. I would have taken the reveal of TUBA Better then I did. I was blinded by my collapsing house of cards, and while I shouldn't let that affect my actions, it did. Something like that is less likely to happen in an arena fight, where new revelations aren't likely to interfere. My character was OP. If I haden't stopped myself, I would have godmodded and metaplayed the destruction of TUBA to no end.
  6. If like we release the game, and everyone starts to play, but no body appreciates the meaning behind the rules, and makes their characters too op, or changes them to be too op after their character passes inspection. or if they just ignore the mediators.
  7. I like that Idea, Maybe we call it martial law. Looking at it now, I think that we will have to run a "trial" of the game, constantly modifying it so that things work. Tweaking the rules and improving them. To put it in business terms, we are releasing a new product. We dont know if people will like it, or if it will work with the niche, but we can do the best we can, then change it based on feedback and re-release it.
  8. Yes, something similar to that.
  9. For example, a flaw in Cam is that he is a chronic Dabber (the dance move). he turned it into a strength by tapping fortune while involuntary dabbing, and throwing a spike, this allowed him to discover new bind points. It also gets him into a lot of trouble during fights, he cant fight as fast or as hard as others before the Dab takes control. This would be a hemalurgist I would support, so long as he didn't only use the Dab for hemalurgy and also made it an inconvenience as well. EDIT: This is my new favorite character concept. Any chronic Dabbers are allowed to have more power, simply because of the hilarity that would ensue because of dabbing. Also the Dabbing support groups that would pop up.
  10. The important part is the fact that people have to remember that outside of the arena, its less about beating the other character down by any means possible, and more about writing a story.
  11. You do realize that those rules were used against real people? PC's fought PC's with those rules. You are right that they did not fight to the death. You had to obtain consent before killing off characters. I think A chromium should be legal, but I think that you are right about the rest of your post. As an aside, I forget if we decided that fighting in the streets of the alleryverse is illegal, but upon revised opinion, I think that it should be legal. Just avoiding every bit of violence in a world of broken people, is highly improbable. Its unreasonable to assume conflict wont arise outside of the arena, and that it can either be solved by talking or by going to the arena and fighting. Also, same with kidpen, I will be off soon.
  12. AHA, After years of digging and searching, I found you out!!!! I know how you got your laugh! Its only a matter of time before I have the same lau- wait, storms. Why did I give up hemalurgy?
  13. Yeah, obviously its not all applicable, but I think the stuff about making characters and free form roleplay is definitely applicable. Kandra are actually pretty powerful. Just because you know that they are a kandra, your character may not. so while not particularly suited for combat, their skills are very useful in other areas. The reason I say that looking solely at the power is a bad scale for measuring OPness, is that based on the way a character is played, their impact on the story is negligible. Superman is OP, but you dont get that feel from the comics or movies, because they wrote him to have restraints. Also, look at the other rules post for the reckoners RP. It had a few good rules about interaction between players. I am confused about what you mean for it working best against non sentient enemies. As for power limits, that's why we have the mediator guild. To monitor peoples power. if they try to pass off a fullborn, we will make sure that its not too OP (has limitations in some way, moral physical, etc). If they try to dodge past our regulations, or proceed to make their character more op by removing limitations, then they will be killed given a friendly reminder that they shouldn't make their character more OP, if they persist, then we may have to remove their character.
  14. Im not sure about the ranking. Because we can't accurately make a scale. Who is to say that all mistings are equal? What about misting savants? I would definately say that spook as a tin savant s worse off then ham burning pewter. Also, new info could completely destroy whatever ranking we have.
  15. I think that we need to break down exactly what needs to be in history and class. If we include species, that should be their investiture, and so long as it makes since and its not OP, it should be alright. For example, a Kandra awakener? No way. A kandra? Sure. @Archer that would be alright, @Kidpen yes, actual game play should be affected by species. Btw, everyone should read the post I linked to earlier.
  16. I like the basic idea for a sheet. I think that we need to ask a few more questions. the thread below seems like a good idea.
  17. Maybe, but I still think that that will accomplish the same disorienting effect of the cookie wars. I think pointing them down here where we will have an intro post made, will be much better.
  18. you're hemalurgists. You get things drilled into your heads for fun.
  19. Yeah, but people ignored the meaning behind the words.
  20. @Kidpen Not necessarily that narrow, but just that you are able to choose what you can be instead of having to role for it. I saw someone propose a while back that you would have to role for powers, and I didn't like that. Also, I feel that for a lot of these, they are less like a character trait and more of a class. They define the way you RP, the way you fight, and everything that a class does, in DND. @ElephantEarwax probably not. At least without some major weaknesses or short comings.
  21. There are two methods for combat that have been edited into the OP. Im still trying to get an alternative free form style, but no one seems to be supporting me in that. As for character creation, I like that, but there needs to be a bit more done, I think.
  22. Ok, cool. I have one request, could we make the types of investiture that you use more like a class system? Like dnd, instead of wizard, rogue, fighter etc. there would be misting, ferring elantrian etc.
  23. Everyone who wants to work on this, I think that we need to do two things, the first is figure out character creation. the second is choose reps from the guilds for the mediator guild.
  24. On a floating island, a man sat. A man so Unbiased, that he had reached Deific levels of Unbiasness. On the island, there were miles of gardens, and rivers and lakes, all carefully cultivated to a perfect standard of perfection. In the center, there was a collection of buildings, built to look like those of Ancient Romans, made of pearly white marble. In the center, there was a building reminiscent of the parthenon, also made of marble and had gold highlights. Around them was an assortment of administrative buildings, many Agoras, various bath houses, and bakeries. Inside of the central building, the Praetorium et Incorruptam, there was a depression, inside of which there was a long table with chairs around it, low enough that anyone on the sides of the building could look down in and observe the proceedings. there were also doors leading to private rooms. Around the depression, there was a pathway large enough for many people to stand on and look down into the conference. On the far side of the island sat massive palaces of every style, these were for the Unbiased ones. Inside an opulent gold and marble palace, Mac sat. Overseeing his creation. Using his mastery of Alleymatics, he increased the power of his voice, so that the entire island could here him. "Welcome to the Mediator guild of the Alleyverse," ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to the Mediator guild of the Alleyverse. We mediate fights and make sure that everyone is able to have a good time. We enforce the Alleyverse RP rules. This guild is structured into the three tiers listed below: Unbiased Ones: people who join this type must cut off all ties to any guilds involved with the alley-verse, they can judge all fights and make some important rules decisions, at least SOME experience with the alley-verse is required to be an Unbiased one. They are also responsible for issuing extra revivals beyond the first. These guys are the major enforcers. Representitives: each guild can nominate 1 or 2 members to be a rep, they can still fight, but they can't mediate, they (along with the leaders of each guild) help make decisions on the alley-wars rules, record deaths (who is dead, and who has been revived) and assassinations. Regular Mediator: People who join this can still be affiliated with guilds, but cannot mediate actions between any guild that they are in. Their jobs is to mediate duels and assassinations between guilds that they aren't affiliated with. They can mediate as many conflicts as they feel appropriate. For example, lets say @LopenTheTwoArmedHerdazian wants to become a Regular Mediator, he cannot mediate a fight between the DA and the LA because he is part of the DA, but CAN moderate a fight between tCoC and the LA, because he is not affiliated with either guild. Unbiased Ones are non-combatants, therefore they cannot kill or be killed. (I mean, you can try to kill us, but we have Completely OP Powers. The council of Unbiased Ones have the equivalent power of 9000+ Adonalsium's.) Regular Mediators and Reps can be killed, but that will not stop them from being able to moderate. Please send any applications to the thread: This thread is for RP, and where public decisions are made inside of the guild. For RP purposes, the Meetings will occur in the Praetorium, that is also where the Reps will meet. The unbiased ones get the palaces as compensation for having to be unbiased and leave all the guilds.
