Okay I see the difference, I was thinking that we were treating this similar to splicing DNA as apposed to tree splicing/splicing branches, which are unsurprisingly, two completely different things. Also I also hope that they create a hemalurgy chart soon. I want to know what more of the metals steel and what the bind points are. They are planning on releasing one next year.

That's cool! I'll try to check it out, Welcome to the 17th shard! Its always awesome when more people join up! How much of the cosmere have you read? Do you want a cookie? We have plenty!
-
Whats your favorite part of the cosmere? (Also if you want a free cookie, take it, they are delicious)
-
As you have been lurking, you probably know better then to take a cookie, but they are here if you want them. You are exactly where I am in the cosmere. Out of what you have read so far what are your favorite parts? I love the Magic, especially hemalurgy.

Two things, the first is that using gold healing restores that body and spirit to its Ideal version, its identity. If the spike had been spliced in, it's technically part of the spirit now, which means that using gold healing will heal the body to this new standard. Without the ability to burn Iron. Tapping gold on its own wouldn't fix it. The second is that I think that using a shardblade would cut out the entire "spiritual gene" which could kill him, people don't survive easily without parts of their spirit web. You would need to have some thing else to replace it. One method that I thought of is similar to a transplant where one could spike out the entire area, then place another hemalurgic spike charged with iron allomancy into the right area. This would give him the ability back, but he would be reliant on the spike to keep him having the ability. <puts on tinfoil hat> Then if you were able to tap connection and identity at the same time as tapping gold, you could trick your body into thinking that it is a iron burner, and connect the two parts of the spirit, then while tapping gold, one could heal their spirit to it's new Identity, of being a lurcher. <takes off tinfoil hat> That last part is highly speculative and most likely wrong. But it would be cool.

The reputation sadly doesn't equate to more cookies, however if you stop by the Dark alley, we have plenty! Reputation is just a way to show if you like a post. A persons total reputation is shown beneath their name. The more rep you have, the more quality posts you have made. As you get more rep, a little yellow title beneath your name will change the more rep you get.

I definitely agree with you. IMO hemalurgy is the best due to the fact that its not limited to only the Metallic arts, it can connect all the magic systems.

Welcome to the 17th shard, we are glad to have you! What is you favorite magic system? Also take a reputation point and a cookie as a welcoming gift!!

"That would only work if he could tap gold, which to my knowledge he cannot." Louik starts pacing around the room running his hand through his hair, "There is a chance that this won't kill him and just change him irreversibly, most likely permanently affecting his sDNA with what ever he was spiked with." I could make it so his character would be unable to burn iron anymore, the sDNA splicing having changed him so that he could no longer burn iron, I don't want to do that and screw his character over though.

You could definitely use aluminum to make your metal vials. The allomatic properties of the metal wouldn't be corrupted, we see mistborn are able to ingest multiple types of metal and are able to burn each separately, that includes aluminum. Even if a little bit of the aluminum gets in, there shouldn't be a problem healthwise. Its not toxic to ingest in small quantities but unless your an aluminum gnat, or a mistborn, you couldn't burn it away. The really only hurdle that I can see would be the price, in scadrial aluminum is expensive.

Ok, that Makes a lot more sense. At the beginning I thought that you were implying that the differences in Magic were due to the geography, not geographic isolation.
-
How is the magic differently geographically?
-
"That cookie shouldn't have harmed him, unless he tried to burn the iron. Burning the iron of a charged spike splices ones sDNA with that of the person who was spiked with the iron,"
-
Sorry for the long post, and if it comes off as offensive, that is not my intention. In my opinion, we really know a lot about how allomancy works compared to the other systems. Its not so much that magic works differently based on where you are, its that certain groups had more knowledge then others. The southern scadrians medallions were always possible, it's just feruchemy applied in a way that we hadn't known before. As opposed to Sel where different Magic doesn't actually function in different parts of the land, Elantris spoilers: Allomancy and feruchemy both work worldwide on scadrial, just one group had more knowledge then the other. TLR was repressing knowledge of the allomatic metals which is the reason that his society couldn't make unkeyed metalminds, like the medallions. There is a theory on the shard that this wasn't caused by the formation of harmony but rather the intermingling of Allomatic and Feruchemic genes. In Mistborn era 1 we see that the power of Allomancy has become diluted due to the mixing of genes. The theory states that having Allomatic genes obstruct the Feruchemic genes, prohibiting the existence of a naturally occurring fullborn, or full feruchemists, resulting in the mistings, ferrings and twinborn that we see in Wax and Wayne. As I said in my previous post, we know most of the basics about how all of the Metallic art's work, so we can theorize on higher conceptsm, such as how they interact with one another, or the various undiscovered uses of the powers. compared to the Stormlight archive where we don't even know what some of the knights radiant surges do.
-
Actually that's the reason why I love Allomancy and the metallic arts. We know a lot about them so we can extrapolate and theorize with a solid foundation.

"Yeah, I don't know what information they want out of him either. Also, whats your deal with eighth and why do you follow him eve- Hey are you alright?" Louik notices the newcomer leaning heavily on a small table in the corner, looking pale and weak, "You look pale, like you ate something bad..." His voice trails off as he looks down at his plate of cookies and counts them. His eyes widen and he double checks his math. Wait a minute, unless he could burn iron, that cookie couldn't have hurt him. Relieved he looks up "Well my cookies aren't causing it, unless you happen to be able to burn iron. You cant burn iron, right?"

I am on mobile right now and can’t change the color of my text. Until I get back to my computer I will just bold it If you spike a gold compounder in a non-lethal spot they can compound gold fast enough that they heal themselves. Also the reason that people die is not because they got spiked in a lethal spot, although most of the time it is, it’s that people have a hard time surviving without pieces of their spirit web.
-
"Excuse me for not knowing the difference between the Lawbringer's network and a man who just appeared in my face, doing the exact same thing that a member of the lawbringers network would have done. Also, let it be noted that I was not responsible for their deaths, the spikes were all placed in non-lethal spaces."
-
"Yes I am a hemalurgic baker. More importantly why would you guys have me tabbed? Last I checked I hadn't done anything illegal enough to be noticed by you guys."
-
"What? That guy, no he has no spikes on or in him."
-
"No, the bloodmaker is gone. Sadly. We came here looking for him and that scub showed up instead." Louik the mumbles something about him being hemalurgicly useless.
-
"I'm not sure that you are looking for us, We've all been here for at least a day," Louik starts sweating, I Hate realmatic traffic controllers. He thinks aloud while compounding zinc. "However you found us at this place, it was probably triggered by something, none of us have world hopped here in the last 24 hours. So the trigger would have happened yesterday for us. Most likely the guy that your looking for is the one crumpled in the stairway,"
-
"Well that is rather sensitive information isn't it? Why would you need to know that?"
