  1. My first reading of the WoT, I marathoned them. A full week and a half of late nights with books shoved in my face. I very much like them. I would describe the WoT as 3-4 Acts. I'm not going to explain what happens in each, but I'll tell you how I liked them. Act 1: Good beginning, the first three books. Gets you interested for the rest. Act 2: Books 4-7ish. This is a bit of rising action, where the characters expand and there are multiple plot lines going on at once. Warning: from this point on, there is romance. At times, it gets in the way of the plot. Act 3: Books 6-11ish. Act 3 has a bit of overlap with Act 2, mainly because it's based off of events relating to certain characters. When I say certain characters, I mean the only characters you can actually stand reading about. The rest will make you want to punch them in the face. Act 4: The conclusion and climax, books 12-14. These were done by Brandon, so they are awesome. Very enjoyable, and really brings together everything in the entire series. If it's a pain to get through Act 3, then Act 4 will give you relief. Act 4 is my favorite.
  2. Attempts to swing legs up onto table, all swaggering, but instead falls backward in may chair. "Well, if you insist, there was once a time, back when I was just beginning to be useless, that I decided to be a farmer. The glory of it had filled my mind! Sowing seed, harvesting grain, long hours in the sun, it would be... exhilarating! "So I went to the seed depot and bought myself three bags of seed and went out into the wilderness. I mean, if no one is living on it, then why can't I? So I set about plowing. During this time I broke seventeen fingers of my ten, splintered my shin, accidentally broke a hole through to the center of the earth (but I filled it in, don't worry), and caused an earthquake on another planet. After the long day's work, I sat down on my porch (which was a random boulder I found) and began to sip my iced lemonade (a cup of water with bits of ash swirling around in it). The next day, I would sow. "So the morrow came. I woke early and ripped open those bags of seeds and began to scatter their contents. it was fine, the first ten minutes or so, but then a wind picked up, and my attempt to plant turned into a seed blizzard! I quickly sought shelter beneath my porch from the stinging seeds and hid there for a few hours. I actually fell asleep down there, but that doesn't matter. When I came out, all of my hard work was gone. My fields had literally been sown with salt. "So I gave up. I threw down my plow and walked all the way back to Tyrian Falls. And that's when I tried to be a farmer."
  3. Though the screams of anguish and rage had ceased to echo through the alleys, I can still hear them. The tiny shreds of paper had blown away on a breeze and the man was long gone. I turn to Rat. "What's with all of these crazy people? One that speaks to voices in his head, a creepy old drunkard that talks to fake cats, a madman with a hatred of paper, a girl with a fascination of spikes... when were the days when I could just be useless!" I fling my arms up in desperation. Rat squeaks. I wave my finger at him. "Don't you go crazy on me too!" Rat scurries into a hole in the wall. I sigh. I wish I could hide in a hole too... But wait! There, that semblance of sound, coming from.... THE PUB!!!! "Fine, Rat. You can stay in your hole, while I go and have some fun!"
  4. I'm an Ardent! Yay me!
  5. Makes a lot of sense.
  6. Elantris a story about a prince who contracts a special "disease", which exiles him from society. A nice mix of fantasy and political intrigue. Mistborn is about a ruined planet (hidden pun), where a girl is recruited to be part of a resistance against an immortal tyrant. Pure Sanderson fantasy.
  7. Elantris was his first book that got published.
  8. I started with Elantris, then Mistborn. Mistborn is a very good place to start for the Cosmere, but Elantris is a great place to start for Brandon's fantasy style.
  9. Yes, Stick. Stick is everywhere.
  10. So what you're saying here, that Hoid exists everywhere? I know that Brandon made up a character that hopped around books he was reading before he started writing, so do you mean to say that Hoid could be in any number of books in any number of series, as long as there is a suspicious, cryptic, perhaps beggarly and white-haired man, Hoid was there?
  11. Yes. The Well of Ascension seems all well at first, but then you end up feeling like Kelsier. And then The Hero of Ages comes in with the final hammer swing.
  12. Ha! In Communism, I'm a blight upon the whole nation! My uselessness is spread evenly upon the entire populace! That's why the Soviet Union imploded...

Interesting. I've never really used digital mediums, simply because I don't have an iPad to carry around everywhere. I've always wanted to try though.

By the way, how do you do your drawings? What medium?

  16. Even when you're feeling down, things can be randomly exciting. And I forgot there was a good things thread.
  17. Once, I tried making a tcg. If I had the time and the skills, it might have worked. I think this might do very well. I'm a decent artist, but simply an amateur with Adobe Illustrator, so if this is done digitally the art might be sub-quality. And by the way, Illustrator is the only digital art program that I have experience with, so sorry. I could do items and landscapes, but I'm not very good with people.
  18. Wow, that's really good! I guess when I said that my hair was parted on the left, I meant that the part was on the left, not that my hair parted to the left. My fault. Well done! The picture is really large. Sorry!
  19. What is the food you find yourself eating the most? I love tortilla chips... anyone else?
  20. You know what, it's going to snow tomorrow!!!!! All of you up north probably don't care, but where I live this is a rare and much anticipated event!
  21. The Calamity Conclusion might have been done differently to create more appeal, however it successfully brought the trilogy to a close. As for SA, I can not think of anyone who is a Sanderfan that does not want more SA books at a faster pace.
  22. Just wait, there are more.
  23. Okay, I want to see myself in drawing form. So I have a normal sized face, and I am male. My jawline looks a bit like this: \_/ but with a shallower decline on the sides. The chin is not exactly centered with everything else on my face. I have a rounded nose, but not a round nose. The tips of my mouth align with my pupils, the length of my nose is approximately the height of my ears, and the hair exactly in front of my ears stops at about the middle of the ear. My ears are not necessarily very large, but they aren't angled back slightly like many other people. My glasses are slightly distorted rectangles. My eyebrows are boldish, with a slight arch facing outward. My left eyebrow is slightly above the other. For that matter, my left eye is very slightly above the right one, but that isn't very noticeable. My hair is parted on the left. My hair is straight, and it's not long enough to cover the tips of my ears, however it is longer on top and in the front. When I say in the front, it means that is fuller in the front and top, not that my hair is covering my forehead. My hair is light brown, and my eyes are hazel. My neck is kind of longish. The distance from my eyes to my chin is about the length of my neck from my earlobe to my shoulder. My favorite outfit is a t-shirt with a button-down shirt, unbuttoned, over it.
