  1. Tbh, I don’t remember exactly why. I was just getting bad vibes as I read some of their posts…. Oh yeah it was the bit about trying to game the Will stuff. The best thing to do for the village with those is just leave them alone and let the alignments/roles come out naturally.
  2. >:( ~ Ged looked around nervously at those around him. There were rumors of Rebels being amongst them. There were even rumors of the Ghosbloods having agents here. His eye twitched. That would not bode well for them at all, no it would not. I just have to not die, Ged thought to himself. That seems like a good plan to me. ~ Sorry, this post is gonna be a bit small. Didn't realize how busy I was going to be these first couple turns of the game. Assuming I survive past like D3, I'll be much more active. For now you're going to get casual!Striker. Anyway, Archer. Absolutely random and totally not because they voted on me. Nope, definitely not a suspicious reason for a vote at all. Seriously though, he's been seeming fishy to me.
  3. Perhaps I was underestimating how confused I am Also, just so everyone knows before the game starts, I won't really be around for rollover for a few hours before/after on Thursday. And next Tuesday, if I live that long in the game.
  4. Don't worry, I've been doing this for 4.5 years at this point, and even I am a bit confused by these rules. We'll all figure this out together!
  5. Here’s the link to the server: https://discord.gg/vNRr7tF
  6. I'm definitely a Lightweaver, though Willshaper is either my second or third choice, depending on the day. And don't worry about not having the time, I completely understand. There will definitely be plenty of games for you to join in the summer, though! If you're interested in talking to people who do play the games though, I can send you the discord server link. There are other people in our community that do D&D as well, and I'm sure they'd love to hear what your campaign is about!
  7. Oh, sorry, I missed that in their signature And yes, clarinet is pretty cool. Bass clarinet is even cooler, though. You're welcome! The current game that has signups posted right now starts on Wednesday, if you're thinking about joining that one. That is a very good question.
  8. That's really interesting, seeing your perspective on this. I can understand what you mean, even if I do enjoy reading Venli. I find her such an interesting perspective to read about. That's completely fair! Focusing on real life is definitely more important. If you are wanting to play, there will almost always be new games coming up!
  9. @harleig_hHey, welcome to the Shard! I can definitely relate to bothering my irl friends way too much about the cosmere. I discovered the cosmere at the start of 2017 through this forum (even if I didn't start my first cosmere book until April that year). I was trying to find a wiki or a forum about Reckoners at the time. I'd discovered Brandon through the Reckoners and the Rithmatist well before I started reading the cosmere, though I obviously didn't look more into him soon enough. Do you have a favorite character from Brandon's books? Have you had a chance to take the Knights Radiant quiz? If so, which order are you? If not, you can take that quiz here. Also, there's a group of people here on the forums that run mafia games based on Sanderson's books. It's called Sanderson Elimination. If you're curious, you can take a read at the general rules here, and the signups for the next game can be found here.
  10. @Covacola Hey, welcome to the Shard! Glad to see that you've managed to read most of the cosmere at this point. Do you have a favorite book in the cosmere so far? Also, you should definitely get your hands on Dawnshard when you get a chance. It's a really good story, one of my favorites from Brandon. Also, for what it's worth, you don't need to worry about reading White Sand yet. They're going to be releasing an omnibus version of the White Sand Graphic Novel that has all 3 volumes of the graphic novel in one book, plus an extra prologue, some notes from Khriss, and an Ars Arcanum at the end. That should be coming out late April, probably April 28th.
  11. @PewterKrogan Hey, welcome to the shard! How much of the cosmere have you had a chance to read? Have you had a chance to take the Knights Radiant quiz? If so, which order are you? If not, you can take that quiz here. Also, there's a group of people here on the forums that run mafia games based on Sanderson's books. It's called Sanderson Elimination. 12. @JungleFiend Hey, welcome to the Shard! Which cosmere books have you had a chance to read? Have you had a chance to take the Knights Radiant quiz? If so, which order are you? If not, you can take that quiz here. Also, there's a group of people here on the forums that run mafia games based on Sanderson's books. It's called Sanderson Elimination. 13. @Roamer of Dusk Hey, welcome to the Shard! You said you've read the whole cosmere, but have you read Dawnshard yet? I know that's been a book that some people have had some trouble getting their hands on, since it was released so weirdly. Which cosmere book would you say is your favorite? Also, there's a group of people here on the forums that run mafia games based on Sanderson's books. It's called Sanderson Elimination. If you're curious, you can take a read at the general rules here, and the signups for the next game can be found here.
  14. @Deltadog Hey, welcome to the Shard! Have you had a chance to read all of the cosmere? I agree that Renarin is definitely a very good character, though I don't think I can say he's my favorite. That spot still probably goes to Kaladin, since I just relate to him so much, and it's so awesome to see a fantasy protagonist with such a realistic portrayal of depression be an awesome hero. Just gonna say, your theory about who Shallan's mom is is cursed, though I respect your opinion. Also, there's a group of people here on the forums that run mafia games based on Sanderson's books. 15. @book_dude Hey, welcome to the Shard! There is indeed going to be a fifth book the Stormlight Archive at some point. The current plans for its release are sometime late 2023. Probably November 2023, based on previous SA releases. However, Brandon has said that since this is the last book in the first arc of the series, he would be willing to push the release date back into early 2024, if he needs more time to make the book perfect. And if you weren't aware, Brandon is also planning for there to be another arc of 5 SA books, set 10-15 years after the end of book 5. This will bring the total books in the series up to 10, not counting the novellas. Speaking of the novellas, have you had a chance to read Edgedancer (book 2.5) or Dawnshard (book 3.5)? They're both pretty good stories, though I prefer Dawnshard over Edgedancer. Also, have you had a chance to read any other Cosmere books? Or any of Brandon's non-cosmere books? Also, there's a group of people here on the forums that run mafia games based on Sanderson's books. It's called Sanderson Elimination. If you're curious, you can take a read at the general rules here, and the signups for the next game can be found here.
  16. @Duxredux Hey, welcome to the Shard! Do you have a favorite character from the cosmere? Also, have you had a chance to read Dawnshard? I know some people haven't gotten a chance to read that one yet because it was released weirdly since the first edition was done through the WoK Leatherbound Kickstarter. Also, I'm absolutely a Lightweaver. Also, there's a group of people here on the forums that run mafia games based on Sanderson's books. It's called Sanderson Elimination. If you're curious, you can take a read at the general rules here, and the signups for the next game can be found here.
  17. @Mwindaji Hey welcome to the Shard! Just want to say that I am a big fan of your dogs! Also, have you had a chance to read Dawnshard yet? That novella (more like a short novel with how long it is ) is set between Oathbringer and Rhythm of War. It's a pretty fun read, and gives some cool big picture cosmere stuff, which works just as well if you haven't read any other cosmere stuff compared to if you have read all of the cosmere. Have you decided which cosmere story you're going to read next after the Stormlight Archive? If you haven't picked one yet, Warbreaker is a good first choice. It's a standalone novel, plus it's free on his website. The story follows two princesses who have spent their whole lives expecting certain things for their lives, when something forces them to switch which roles they were supposed to have. Plus a couple other really fun characters to follow. It's a really fun story, with a really colorful magic. Elantris is also a standalone novel (though both Warbreaker and Elantris are possibly getting sequels someday), and that one's story is basically that people started becoming magic zombies after something broke the old magical city of Elantris, and now one of the main characters, Raoden, has become one of the magical zombies. It's Brandon's first published book, and was written much earlier before any of his other published books as well. If you're looking to hop into a series, Mistborn Era 1 is a good choice. The first book in that series is The Final Empire. The basic concept that Brandon started working from when he sat down to write the series (though it may or may not currently reflect how the book actually is now) was "what if the Dark Lord won?" And the series starts with everyone being under the control of The Lord Ruler. And a group of people get together to rob him. It's a blast, and it's the first series (and only one that he's started) that he's written the ending to. It's my favorite series of his, over SA, simply because we have the ending and can see the bigger picture of everything. There's also a second series, Era 2 (aka Wax and Wayne) that follows the same world about 300 years after the events of the last series, during the planet's industrial revolution. It's super fun. Also, there's a group of people here on the forums that run mafia games based on Sanderson's books. It's called Sanderson Elimination. 18. @CryoZenith Hey, welcome to the shard! I am interested in why you dislike Venli so much. Personally, I really like her as a character. It's fun to me to watch someone realize they have made a big mistake, and to see them try and make up for it. Even if it's a slow process. Because in real life, it usually does take a lot of time. Also, there's a group of people here on the forums that run mafia games based on Sanderson's books. It's called Sanderson Elimination. 19. @caminante_blanco Hey, welcome to the Shard! I know you've read everything in the cosmere, but have you had a chance to read Dawnshard yet? I know that one was weird with how it was released as its own book, separate from the WoK leatherbound Kickstarter, way later than it originally came out. It's set between Oathbringer and Rhythm of War. It's a really good story. Also, there's a group of people here on the forums that run mafia games based on Sanderson's books. It's called Sanderson Elimination. If you're curious, you can take a read at the general rules here, and the signups for the next game can be found here.
  20. @Thornlight Welcome to the Shard! I do think that The Effervescent is a good title for you. Also, my girlfriend also plays the flute! What level of band are you in? I play the clarinet. Have you had a chance to read Dawnshard yet? It's set between Oathbringer and Rhythm of War. It doesn't really matter if you read it before or after Rhythm of War, as they were written to not spoil each other, but Dawnshard does chronologically come first. Also, there's a group of people here on the forums that run mafia games based on Sanderson's books. It's called Sanderson Elimination. If you're curious, you can take a read at the general rules here, and the signups for the next game can be found here.
  21. @Mono Hey, welcome to the 17th Shard! The Stormlight Archive is definitely a great introduction to Brandon's works, if you can make it through all the chunky worldbuilding he has to do at the start of The Way of Kings. There are some answers to what's going on with the Shards in some of Brandon's other works in the cosmere, if you are curious about them. Books like Mistborn, Elantris, or Warbreaker could be fun for you to read if you want to get more into the cosmere. There's no real correct order for reading them, so you can just look up summaries for those books and see which one sounds the most interesting to you if you want. Warbreaker is definitely a good start because it's free on Brandon's website! Which book of the Stormlight Archive would you say is your favorite? Also, there's a group of people here on the forums that run mafia games based on Sanderson's books. It's called Sanderson Elimination. If you're curious, you can take a read at the general rules here, and the signups for the next game can be found here.
  22. I’m definitely not running my anonymous blackout game as the next MR. I’ll probably be running my pretty simple mistborn game for it. Though I could always run my Roshar conversion game instead if people want something a bit different from the AG
  23. I like these rules. I do think the way you describe the success rates for each weave and stuff is a little confusing to understand. What do the extra 1’s and 2’s mean in that first section about success rate?
  24. Welcome to SE, friend! Have you had a chance to read any of the pinned threads for this forum? That might be helpful for getting started, though this is certainly a very complicated game to do as your first game.
  25. Ah what the heck, may as well. Sign me up as Ged, a darkeyed man who keeps twitching for some reason and no one can quite remember when he arrived in Urithiru.
