  1. I answered the poll a long time ago, but I haven't said what I chose yet, mainly because I'm still fairly uncertain myself. I put Atheist/Agnostic because that's close to what I believe. I was raised Christian, and we went to church every Sunday, except for a few exceptions (but those were few and far between). I always kind of hated it, but I thought I was Christian. I'm not really sure when exactly it happened, but within the past 2/3 years, I've drastically changed my belief. I don't think that there's simply enough evidence for anything in the Bible to be accurate, if you aren't assuming that God is real. If you assume God is real, then the Bible makes perfect sense. Of course, there's also not enough evidence for the idea that God isn't real, but, in my opinion, there's less evidence for the Bible being real. You can argue with me if you want; I'd actually be open to changing my viewpoints if you do it well enough. However, part of me feels like all I can really know is that which I experience. I'm told that all these things (such as events, wars, etc.) go on around the world, but if I don't witness them, do they really happen? Our brains are very good at deceiving us, and they can comprehend our complex world; why couldn't they make it up to begin with? As far as I know, my experiences are all there is. Of course, I like to believe that's not the case, but I can never really know that any of you are actually sitting in front of a computer/phone/tablet and reading this post and that you aren't just a figment of my imagination.
  2. I was really confused for a moment, because I forgot I was in the food topic, and I thought you were saying you felt like a curry, not like you felt like eating curry. Also, I know curry is spicy, but that's about all I know about it. Can you educate me on the ways of the curry?
  3. Oh, I never broke with him. We've talked, and we've decided to just be a lot more careful with how we interact with each other.
  4. So, one of my friends had his birthday today. He turned 16. His girlfriend's birthday is on Wednesday. She's turning 16. To me, I find that so romantic for some reason. That two people in a relationship could be born so close together, and end up getting together. It sucks that they won't really be able to celebrate her birthday since there's a big band thing going on and they're both in band. Oh well.

  6. Follow-up: I got my judging sheet today. For UIL, the scale is 1-5, with 1 being the best and 5 the worst. I got a 1. Since I played it memorized, I was able to advance to the state level. I'm going to UT Austin on May 27 for the state solo contest.

  8. I'd be willing to read it. You could just PM it to me, or if it's a google doc, share it in a PM. I wouldn't post it on here, since it'd be quite long.
  9. It's weird, I know of laundromats, but I've lived in apartments since I was 7, and we've always had both a washing machine and a dryer in our apartments. I've never even seen a laundromat where I live, and I live in the US. I only know of them because I've seen them in commercials and sitcoms. Though, we do have dry-cleaners; however, we only use them when it's stuff like tuxes or fancy clothes that require special washing requirements. I've never even heard of using them to do your regular laundry.

  11. So, yesterday I had a UIL solo contest. I had to play my solo by memory, and I was really freaking out, because I wasn't sure if my memory would hold during the performance, but it did. There were only a couple little blips near the end, but besides that, I did really well! After my performance, the judge said I did great! She made a joke that if she was looking to hire a bass clarinet, she knows where to look now. She also said she thought I did so good, she wasn't really gonna right much on my judging sheet. She also said her hand hurt because she'd been writing all day, so that was partly why. I think I made it to the state level, possibly, considering how good she thought I did.
  12. @Clockwork Those first two are funny, but I don't get the last one. It's probably really obvious, but it's late and I'm tired.

  14. I'm a musician (I play clarinet, bass clarinet, and I'm teaching myself how to play the alto saxophone), and I have a pretty good idea of how music works. Those terms took me a long time to understand as well, but it is quite simple really...actually not really, but that's why I'd be glad to help you! This would help me out too, since I'm planning on taking music theory next year and, eventually, becoming a band director.
  15. Finally, the man's eyes fluttered closed. The strange figured turned and smiled.... "Shhh," said the killer "It's quick."
  16. FOR NARNIA!!
  17. I'm up, if anyone else is.
  18. This sounds so much like my little brother. He pronounces "height" as "heighth" (height-th). Like how you pronounce width. He does it all the time, and with tons of other words too. I think by now he does it to annoy me, but at first he genuinely pronounced them that way. This so much. I'm a really fast walker, even for my pretty short legs (or they're short in comparison to most people at my school, even though I'm almost 5'5"), so I hate getting stuck behind people. I just don't see the point in walking slowly. I like to get where I'm going faster so I can then relax there.
  19. If I have both pudding and cheese sticks or squares or something, I tear up the cheese and mix it into the pudding. It tastes really good. When I use condoments, most of the time, depending on the food, I mix ketchup and mustard together. My dad makes this dish that we call chicken dorito casserole, or chippy cheesy chicken-y casserole (ccc casserole). Pretty much, it's Doritos, with a layer of cheese on top of it, then shredded chicken (with some sauce I don't know), then repeat 2-3 times. Then add cheese on top. It's usually pretty good, but tonight (technically last night now) my dad put way too much salt in it.
  20. So, while the flu medicine has been helping, I think I'm getting bronchitis, or maybe even pneumonia. This can't happen right now, I've got a big solo contest next weekend. I've got rehearsals with my pianist accompanist this coming Monday and Wednesday, I've got orchestra rehearsals tuesdays and Thursday's after school, and I've got clarinet choir after school Wednesday. And I've got to worry about my ensemble. I already missed two days of school, an orchestra rehearsal, and a clarinet choir rehearsal.
  21. RE: Eragon Pretty much what most people have said applies to me. Eragon was the first true fantasy book I ever read and one of the only ones (I still haven't got around to Mistborn yet). It just blew my mind with how good it was. Of course, I was in 6th grade I think, so I was pretty young. I hated the ending, but at the same time I absolutely loved everything about the book. My mind literally exploded after I finished Inheritance, and I think I remember crying a little too. I didn't even realize, until I first saw these posts talking about it, that it had ripped off other fantasy works. That had never been an idea to me. The world just seemed so fresh and vivid. And I freaking loved dragons (and still do), so that helped. I'm just glad this community is so civil and this hasn't devolved into a fight about if the book's good or not. That's what I love about this place.
