  1. I could totally see something like this happening. This is very poorly written, but you get the idea.
  2. I know it's been several months, but we kind of know the answers to one of these questions. In regards to the humans destroying their original homeworld, we have this WoB: And, if you were unaware, Ashyn has a disease magic system; when you get a disease, you get a magical ability of some kind. The relationship to the surges is similar, but with different rules: We don't know if Odium was involved or not, but with how powerful the surges are and without the Ideals to restrict their usage, plus whatever the dawnshards are, since they were apparently involved in the cataclysm on Ashyn, I can totally imagine a scenario where the Ashynites just got out of hand and caused the cataclysm themselves. Also, sorry this is so late lol.
  3. Gavilar's plan wasn't supposed to bring about the everstorm. It was just supposed to bring the next Desolation, or some threat, to help unite the world.
  4. I never would've guessed him (I actually forgot who he was and had to go look him up lol).
  5. ....okay. I thought things got intense after The Dragon Reborn. I will when I finish. That'll be awhile though.
  6. @goody153 Yes, I'm reading LoC right now. Maybe I'm clueless, but I wasn't quite sure who the male knife person was supposed to be. Unless their identity is some sort of spoiler, could you just tell me who they are?
  7. The first account username I used for awhile was bubbaets9101. The bubba part is because I'm an older brother and my mom was like "we're gonna call you this" for the first account I ever made for anything (which was my first email, I think), ets is my initials, and 9101 is my birthday. I stopped using it because I didn't like how it sounded. The next username I made was for the 39 clues website. I'd just read the first book, and Rick Riordan was my favorite author at the time, so I kind of mashed up his name and made Rickorio. I used it for a couple other places after that, one being darkSpyro, which I made an account for after discovering Skylanders, until I decided I didn't like how it sounded anymore. I can't remember if it was for this website first or for SoundCloud first, but I felt that I needed a better, catchier username. I'm not exactly sure where Striker came from, though it might have come from one of my favorite beyblades, Ray Striker, since I always associate my username with green and that beyblade is green. I was gonna add ES, my initials, to the end but StrikerES doesn't look or sound as cool as StrikerEZ.
  8. Stick. In all seriousness, I think Shallan is super underrated. Despite her...problems in OB, I think she is definitely a really awesome character. I can definitely relate with her on many levels, though I'm not quite as bad as her.
  9. Only five people have voted so far, and they've all voted on different Kholins. I voted for Adolin, by the way.
  10. You don't have to rub his death in my face. Yeah, I'm not touching any reading/rereading posts. I'd rather not get myself spoiled. I was reading the books at a pretty fast pace, but now that marching season has started I probably won't finish the series until next year.
  11. You see, you're all wrong. We've only ever seen two of these black spheres, which are probably Odium's. There's a reason he hates everything now.... Seriously though, I have no idea what could be in these spheres. I don't like the idea of Unmade being in them, because how the hell would Gavilar have gotten two, maybe even more, of them? However, voidlight/voidspren just feels really weird an de kind of lame, considering how much they've been foreshadowed and theorized about.
  12. He's the main character from Sixth of the Dusk. His full name is the title of the story, but he goes by Dusk. SotD is a Cosmere short story, which you can find in Arcanum Unbounded.
  13. Dalinar is a pretty good choice, I'll admit. I personally really like Venli and Adolin. Both of them for OB spoiler reasons. Non-SA characters I like are Dusk, because of his quiet nature-it's just so interesting to me; Vin, because she's freaking amazing; and Vivenna, because I love her character progression.
  14. Yeah, you're completely right. Ati as Ruin was a pretty bad villain. @Calderis already gave a pretty good explanation of how this (probably) happened, so I won't repeat too much of what he said, but if someone like Sazed, who views Ruin as a natural part of the world, took up Ruin they would manifest the intent very differently. LI think I have a pretty good metaphor for how Shardic intents affect the Vessels: The Vessel is the banks of a river. They determine where and how the water, the Shard, flows, though overtime the water will erode the land as they pass through, eventually taking control and being unstoppable. It's not a perfect metaphor, but I think it works.
  15. I think the main thing to realize here is that you have an opinion of what Autonomy means to you; that does not mean that is the way Autonomy can be expressed. Anyone could have a different definition of Autonomy than you; each person who would take up the Shard of Autonomy would express it differently, based on how they view the intent. Brandon himself has talked about this a lot (I'm not quoting the WoB though because it contains OB spoilers).
  16. There are people in relationships where the age gap is sometimes 20+ years. Just because you wouldn't date someone that much younger than you doesn't mean that no one else would. Plus, Kaladin is pretty mature for his age anyway, and I doubt Jasnah would care too much about age when it comes to choosing a partner. As long as they can keep up with her intellectually and can respect her, both of which Kaladin should be able to do, I think she'd be fine with dating someone younger than her. @Razrback16 Made a better post about this than I just did, so you should read that again.
  17. You should really read Elantris, it's pretty good! Also, Emperor's Soul, a short story that takes place on Sel, the same planet as Elantris, is really good too. You should try reading The Reckoners. It's a superhero story, but the people with superpowers are actually all evil and the main character is a guy trying to kill one. Yeah, Stormlight is pretty insane, though I really love Mistborn Era 1 because of how well everything is foreshadowed and the plot and characters are so good. Brandon's also an inspiration for me to write as well. Have you read Oathbringer? EDIT: @Osric Fingerbone It appears a mod moved your post to the right board anyway.
  18. I really disagree. @Calderis will probably do a better job of explaining why though, and I'm too tired to bother right now.
  19. Way of Kings: Helaran Words of Radiance: Sadeas Oathbringer: Amaram Who's next???
  20. You're welcome! Just curious, how much of the Cosmere have you read? Have you read any non-Cosmere books? Which book/series is your favorite?
  21. @Spacefaring Ferring Hey, welcome to the Shard! Have a free upvote and a spiked delicious cookie! DISCLAIMER: Side effects include, but are not limited to, hearing voices, gaining supernatural powers, having the sudden urge to kill everyone, and completely losing control over your mind and body. The Dark Alley™ claims no liability for any damage done to/by the eater of this cookie. I'll agree that Mistborn is definitely my favorite series. The magic system is really cool, I'll admit, but the plot, foreshadowing, and the characters of that series are just so good. Those things are what really make the series so good to me. As for guilds, I don't really understand them much myself. From the little I understand, they're just groups of people who get together and act like a group. @Archer would probably know more than me (or would know someone who would). Anyway, glad to have you here, and I look forward to seeing you join the community!
  22. @Edgedancer Jak Hey, welcome to the Shard! Which Cosmere books have you read? Who's your favorite character?
  23. Hey, once you do, tag me (just type @ and my name next to it, like this: @StrikerEZ As you're typing, a little drop down menu should appear with name suggestions and you just click on mine) and I'll come talk with you about it! That's your reputation level. Depending on how many upvotes you have, you get a different rep level. All of the levels are things from Brandon's books.
  24. @Osric Fingerbone Hey, welcome to the Shard! I will point out that OB spoilers are NOT allowed in this part of the forum: If you want to talk about the Unmade, you can go to either the Oathbringer Spoilers Board (underneath the Stormlight Archive one) or the Cosmere Theories board. Either way, you need to put [OB] in the title of your topic.
  25. @Shalladolin Khalinevar Personally, I would wait to read Era 2 until after you've read Era 1. Era 2 is kind of its own thing, but reading it without reading Era 1 would be like watching the sequel Star Wars movies without watching the original. Era 2 works well on its own, but you're missing some very important information from Era 1.
