  1. I think refraction is aggravated by bubbles being spherical, therefore most matter and such hits at an angle to the field. This same effect means that light refracted in/out of glass spheres gets even more distorted than normal.
  2. New use for Pulsing: Throw the bubble between a person you want to protect and a hidden sniper, but without enveloping either. (We're assuming you can't reach the sniper.) The sniper's bullet will deflect both when entering and exiting the bubbble.
  3. Dun spheres are equal in value to charged. What moneylenders charge for is the use of their extra-safe infusion baskets (less risk of wind or thieves) Larger spheres hold more Light, but I think they take the same time to become dun. (more light = more leakage)
  4. They do. For example, the gems in Jasnah's fake soulcaster are way bigger than money gems. I think one reason sphere gems are so small is that you can make sphere gems from the bits you get when you break bigger gems (by draining their light).
  5. Remember, the only homosexual we've seen in a Brandon book was a Forsaken.
  6. Point of clarification: My theory will still hold if the glow isn't stormlight. I merely stated that the glow was a mark of Honor. It seemed likely that the Knights hadn't needed gems for fuel, based on what i read elsewhere.
  7. The reason she performed the resurrection is because Dalinar asked her too. The mind wipe was so Dalinar wouldn't realize what she'd done.
  8. I'm guessing the Voidbringers are humans who serve Odium. Alternatively, has anyone thought that "Voidbringer" might be the equivalent of "Surgebinder" i.e. anyone who can use Voidbinding?
  9. To get back to the original topic, i think "Safe" in safehand indicates that that hand and everything to do with it is protected from the outside world.
  10. What if ordinary parshmen are everyone who wasn't close enough to Honor to become a Parshendi?
  11. You forgot Dalinar's Highstorm visions.
  12. I think Dalinar asked for his wife to be returned to him. The Nightwatcher wiped Dalinar's memory so he wouldn't recognize her, fiddled with everyone's memory, put the real Navani someplace, and returned Dalinar's wife from the dead as Navani. So that's why the two of them fell in love so inevitably. I await your applause for my brilliance.
  13. What if someone tried to use the Old Magic to raise a dead loved one?
  14. I'm calling Syl to defeat Szeth by reminding him more forcefully of all the horrors he's committed so his voices finally drive him insane and he stabs himself with Kingkiller. (name I just made up for Szeth's blade, since it doesn't have a name yet.)
  15. Two possible explanations for how the power works: 1. Regrowth accelerates natural healing in the same way as gold Feruchemy. 2. Regrowth is actually a specialized form of Soulcasting (turning air into flesh and bone.)
  16. Alright, here's my idea. Points as follows: 1. The Shardblades and Plate were originally the symbols of a Radiant's oath. 2. The glow that we see in Pre-Recreance Shards is a visible sign of Honor's favor, possibly indicating that he fuels the Plate/Radiant as much Light as needed without having to use gems. 3. At the Recreance, the Radiants broke their oaths. 4. This is why the Plate and Blades stopped glowing and now need gems. (Honor is no longer fueling them). 5. This is also why Syl hates the Sharblades (they are now symbols of broken oaths, exactly opposite her nature.) 6. If Kaladin ever gets ahold of Plate and Blade, they will presumably start glowing again (though maybe only once he's taken all five oaths) 7. What do you think?
  17. Just an official alert that I exist. p.s. How do you earn reputation points?
  18. Those two ardents who discovered that measuring flamespren fixes them in shape.
  19. I know that. I'm wondering what would happen if some nutty Ferring did it anyway.
  20. I know, but i just figured that sometime in the history of Feruchemy, at least one person would do this for some reason. And it's more of a theoretical curiosity than a practical one.
  21. When a storm breaks up, its Light keeps going, reaches Origin, and turns back into a storm?
  22. No. The King and Queen aren't married, remember?
  23. I thought Nightblood made you kill yourself when you ran out of Breaths.
  24. I agree with this. The physical patterns of sounds don't matter, what matters is the Intent. (i.e. If you think in English, you will mentally Command in English, and the mental and verbal commands have to match). This is supported by the fact that it is possible to Awaken with no spoken command at all.
  25. Interesting theory question: If a atium ferring draws more youth than he has age, what happens? To explain it more fully: Suppose you have a 30-year old atium ferring who has enough age to become 50 years younger for a few days, and he draws it all. Logically, that would make him negative twenty years old. What in the Cosmere does that do??? Does he just vanish, since he did not exist 50 years ago? Or does he turn into his parents? Or into a zygote? Any thoughts?
