  1. After reading about Darkness, I started that thinking that a battle between him and Kaladin would be awesome, because you know he is coming for him. I would love to see a team up between Szeth and Kaladin to take Darkness on. If Darkness is who we think he is, it will be epic!
  2. Wait, what? There are spren of Adonalsium?
  3. Blindillusions, when you get a chance you can find help and hints here. I had a hard time on a phone. Much easier to use on a computer.
  4. Sell. I think it will be Adien of all people. Steven Leeds will discover...
  5. Out of all the shards, why did Odium go after Devotion and Dominion? Besides Honor and the two mentioned, are there any other shards that have been shattered?
  6. I sure hope that David isn't an Epic. I like the idea of him being a regular kid who manages to take down those more powerful than himself. It is a great story when the hero has nothing but his own normal abilities to win. That's why I hope Joel never becomes a Rithmatist.
  7. I agree that this was more of an introduction to Weeper and Jasnah's tendency to watch her family. Probably totally baseless, but who says that Weeper is still with Elhokar's wife? That was five years ago and a lot has happened since then. I'm personally fond of the idea that Weeper is someone we have already met, some one close to Dalinar and his family (since Jasnah wants to keep tabs on her family). I'm partial to the idea that Danlan Morakotha isn't quite who she appears to be (again, no evidence to support this whatsoever.) Even if Danlan/Weeper doesn't pan out, I like the idea that one of Jasnah's spies/assassins is lurking somewhere close.
  8. Just out of curiousity, has anyone been able to discover what the weird bat-crab beast is on the first endpaper and how it relates to the KR?
  9. Buy. There is much that Brandon could do with a magic system like that. Wayne will end up a Worldhopper if only because I would love to see a meeting of Wayne and Galladon. Or Vasher. Or Kaladin. Or anybody for that matter.
  10. Sell. I think that there is a great scene waiting to happen when Lirin discovers all that Kaladin has done and not done up to that point. Wax will discover
  11. Buy. We will find out more about the Old Magic and the Nigtwatcher in WoR.
  12. Any book that starts off with "So, there I was, tied to an altar made from outdated encyclopedias, about to get sacrificed to the dark powers by a cult of evil Librarians" cries out to be read. Of course, me being one of those Evil LIbrarians, I probably should recommend that it not be read. We wouldn't want you to know the truth of things.
  13. Old news, but Emperor's Soul wins! I was excited to hear that for the first time a story I actually liked and enjoyed won a Hugo. Congrats!
  14. Try Michael J. Sullivan's series, The Riryria Revelations. The author kept these books "free of foul language, sex, and graphic violence so that it could be enjoyed by people of all ages." I really enjoyed them.
  15. Just picked up Man in the Empty Suit. Haven't started reading it yet, but I am hopeful. The blurb looked interesting.
  16. Same here! I used to be an avid re-reader, but I have discovered that the older I've gotten the less patience I have for it. When I am in a reading slump, I usually go through my books and pick out my favorite parts or try to find a passage that has been referenced somewhere else.
  17. I would start with Elantris and then Way of Kings for three reasons: I am a big fan of reading in publication order It is fun to see how much Brandon has improved as a writer from Elantris to Way of Kings Words of Radiance is being released soon, and you will need that much time to truly savor and enjoy the awesomeness that is The Way of Kings Enjoy and welcome!
  18. Reading AMoL again, was anyone else let down by Moraine's appearance? I guess I expected much more from her. For me it seemed like the last few books were building to this awesome return of Moraine to the story, but then it kind of fizzles. Sure with her help the Dragon's Peace was made, but I expected so much more. I still loved this book, though. The garden scene with Rand and Mat is my absolute favorite in the entire series. Sad to see it end. There is now an empty split in my life. It's alright though. I am sure it can be filled by Words of Radiance when it comes out.
  19. I would love to go to the Omaha signing (it's the closest), but I doubt it. I think Brandon needs to come to the Kansas City area. That would be awesome!
  20. Just found the Riyria Revelations by Michael Sullivan. I really enjoyed it. Nothing fancy, but a nice solid story. Going on my list of good fantasy.
  21. I keep trying to have my library get Legion. Oh well. At least we're getting Rithmatist.
  22. Congrats to Brandon and The Emperor's Soul for garnering a Hugo Award nomination for Best Novella!! Woohoo!!!
  23. Reading Lord Darcy by Randall Garrett. It is a collection of his short mystery stories and one novel based in a world where Richard the Lionheart never died and magic has become the new "science." It's basically a Sherlock Holmes character with a Watson who is CSI magician. Through in some puns and you have a rollicking good read!
  24. Ah don't feel bad. The first time I tried to start Eye of the World, I never got passed the first three chapters. Put it down for a couple of years, picked back up went off with it. Until Winter's Heart, then I had to stop. I'll finish it when Brandon finishes Memory of Light. I was talking to a co-worker about this earlier today. I agree with you. I like heroes, people who are trying to do right. I like flawed heroes, who make mistakes, but ultimately succeed in their story. I don't understand this fascination on characters who are basically villains.
  25. I have to say that I am surprised by the number of people here who are not fans of Martin. Most of the other boards I have frequented have raved about him and his masterpiece. Glad to know that I am with others that really don't care. I agree that that I really enjoyed the Well of Ascension for that reason. The Big Bad has been defeated, only to find out that the Big Bad wasn't really as bad as previously thought, and that there is a Bigger Bad who really wants to make things bad. Does that make sense?
