  1. That's a good question. I just tend to look at things, and go "man, this would make a cool SE game," and then attempt to format it into a game that isn't totally broken. But as Fifth pointed out, it's probably a good idea to do some co-GMing first. It helps you get a sense for how it works. You can also always rerun an old game, with some tweaks to make it work better. Personally, I like to make games with exciting new mechanics and settings that haven't really been done before. That kind of thing varies from GM to GM. Get a bit of experience, and you might find some ideas coming together for cool mechanics or just a stable game to run.
  2. Wingmates die if their wingmate is shot down, after performing a revenge attack on the killer. It's in the rules.
  3. Day 4- Once, I Feared to Shine Out Steel flew frantically. The battle was complete mayhem. The rebels seemed annoyed they hadn't shot down a pilot the last turn, and were firing up at the battle, not caring who they hit. And Skinny Ship was in trouble. He had been shot at by the rebels the previous night, but had shrugged it off due to his shields. But the rebels seemed determined to bring him down, for some reason or another. But as long as he could maintain his shield, he should be fine. So Steel was flying to help keep the Krell off his back. He was beaten there by Number 4. He breathed a sigh of relief. And then watched as Number 4 released an IMP right in front of Skinny Ship. Steel froze in shock. What had just happened? He then was helpless as he watched the now shieldless Poco explode as a turret hit the back. Steel screamed, plunging his Poco into a dive towards the offending turret. But again, he was beaten to the punch as Inbred, finally taking a stand, charged the turret that had shot his wingmate down. He kept firing destructors at the turret until his ship had been shredded to pieces. Steel saw no parachute. Steel felt totally out of whack. What had just happened in the last 10 seconds? He scanned the battlefield, attempting to find Number 4. He found him pretty easily, as he was smoking from a blow from Inbred, having removed his own shields to destroy Skinny Ship's shield. Steel prepared to fire on the traitor, but instead he was beaten to the punch by a single krell ship. The krell ship didn't even stop as it plowed through Number 4. And, as if on cue, Scissors appeared, attempting to get revenge for the death of his own wingmate. The Krell destroyed Scissors as well. Steel went into a blind rage. He opened fire with his destructors on pretty much anything that moved. 4 pilots, shot down in mere minutes. This time, only 3 krell ships escaped with their skins intact. After the battle, an investigation was launched into Number 4. It was soon discovered that he was a rebel, but for some reason he had decided to stay. Maybe... maybe he had stayed for Scissors? Was it for love, friendship, or was it just for the thrill of flying? Steel wasn't sure whether to humanize him. He felt numb. He had known this battle wouldn't go as well, but this level of destruction would cripple the flight specifically tasked with protecting the base. The base had only been scratched this time, but Steel sensed there was a distinct possibility that next time, the base could be crippled. If a lifebuster showed up now... they would be doomed. Doomslug was happy the bunnies seemed to have disappeared. Now Doomslug could return to her journey. Just as soon as Doomslug finished taking a nice little nap. ____________ A Joe in the Bush was shot down in Fresa-5. He was a Rebel Pilot, and wingmate to Snipexe. Snipexe was shot down in Poco-9. He was a Pilot, and wingmate to Joe. Darkness Ascendent was shot down in Poco-4. He was a Pilot, and wingmate to Walin. Walin was shot down in Poco-5. He was a Pilot, and wingmate to Darkness Ascendent. The base is now at 24 health. PMs are closed. Remember to submit your ship requests, and the lynch is open. Also remember to submit your ship repair actions. The turn will end in 23 hours, at 8:00 EDT, 6/2/19.
  4. The turn is over. The new day should be up soon, although PMs should go out before the new day.
  5. It's not a threat, it's the rules.
  6. There are about 3 hours remaining in the turn. Remember to submit your actions or you will incur an additional vote on you during the next day turn.
  7. The base is still at 25 health. I’ll tell you if it goes down.
  8. That should be all the PMs.
  9. Night 3- Like Stars, Pinpricks of Light Steel was chasing bunnies. Someone's pet rabbits had escaped into Alta base, and were eating everything. This was despite strict rules against pets. But, Seraph had decided to bring bunnies to Alta base. And now his entire flight was chasing the little rodents. Steel stalked into the hangar, and spotted eyes on the far side. He walked slowly, hoping that perhaps the bunny wouldn't startle. He was armed with a net, and managed to catch the thing before it leaped into the bottom of a ship. Which, incidentally, were looking a lot better. The pilots had really come together and fixed them up, and they should be ready to fly if the Krell attacked. But until then... how many more bunnies were there? Steel sighed, wondering if perhaps they had started multiplying. That would be thrilling. He wasn't surprised that Seraph was already gone when he got back, more bunnies in hand. Cute little monsters. Ironsides probably hadn't been thrilled about finding bunnies all around the base, and Seraph probably hadn't lasted long beyond that. Not that Seraph was a rebel or anything. Just a bunny loving pilot. They had collected about a dozen of them. How many had Seraph had? It didn't seem that anyone really knew. He was looking into the beady eyes of a white one when the alarms went off. Yet another division of Krell were trying to attack the base, probably. Hopefully no one would get shot down tonight. But somehow, Steel knew deep down, this wasn't going to go as well. There were going to be casualties tonight. Against his better judgement, he grabbed the white rabbit. "I'm going to call you Mr. Fluffers." He put the bunny back down, and took off for the hangar. Maybe he could get a bunny or two back to Seraph. Poor guy. Doomslug didn't like bunnies at all. They chewed on everything. Including her. She had gotten away from the plague of rabbits that had covered the base. But if they had eaten what she was looking for, or if they were wherever she needed to be, that could be a problem. Plus, her flutes were much more majestic than those stupid ears the bunnies had. ________________ Sart was lynched. They were a Pilot. Sart (4): Striker, Elandera, Young Bard, Sart Fura (2): Ark, Drake Drake (1): Joe Joe (1): Fura There is no lifebuster. The ships are 1C, 1E, 2A, 2D, 3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 3E. All have 5 health. PMs are open. You will receive your PMs soon, hopefully. I'm also probably going to switch the lynch rules to random in the case of a tie. Too few people have been dying. The turn will end at 8:00 PM EDT, on 6/1/19.
  10. The turn is over. I might need to make a change to the lynch rules, the lack of death could be problematic for this game ending in a reasonable amount of time. Also don’t hold your breath for the next turn. My family is just... inconvenient. I’ll get it up as soon as I can.
  11. 8 minutes remaining. Get your votes in.
  12. There are about 3.5 hours left in the turn. Submit any actions and ship requests before that end, and get your votes in. I'm not entirely sure I'll be on exactly at 8, because my family is celebrating my birthday today and I have no idea how long that'll take. But the turn will end at 8, and anything submitted after that won't count.
  13. Quick note: the turn is 24 hours longer because I'm busy tonight, just to make sure no one is confused when I don't close the turn at 8 tonight.
  14. If multiple people shot destructors at a single target and it was destroyed, they will all receive the message that they destroyed the target. The way I chose to send out these results wasn't in the rules, so I felt I should clarify how I sent them out.
  15. Clarification: if your action led to the ship you targeted being destroyed, you are informed of that fact. You do not have to be the one who actually targeted the ship last in order to get that message.
  16. Krell shields and human shields do work differently. Krell shields act as extra health that disappears if you use an IMP and regenerates if they return. Human shields act as a 1 hit absorption.
  17. Day 3- We Are All Holes in the Fabric Steel flew at speed, weaving between Krell and Defense ships. Destructor blasts flew around him, but nothing came close to hitting him, with his speed. He wrapped one Krell with his Light-Lance, sending it spinning away. He watched that one get shot down by a turret from below. Well then, it appeared that the rebels had a vested interest in not letting the Krell get to the base either. But he was wary of getting too close to those turrets, lest they shoot him down out of pure opportunity. Steel saw one Fresa being ganged up on by several Krell. He tried to get to it, but another ship managed to shoot down one of them before they shot the harrassed Fresa down. As it was, the Fresa was forced to retreat. And they weren't the only one. Several other ships got ganged up on by Krell. None were shot down, but many took a lot of damage. Steel circled up above the battle, and pursed his lips. The skirmish was going better than the previous night, but not much better. He saw a lot of ships not coordinating, and thus wasting their time. It was frustrating to watch, but Steel wasn't in charge of all of them. Finally, he watched 4 remaining Krell ships disengage and flee away. All the ships began heading back to the hangars. All of them. None of them had been shot down? Well then, perhaps it had been a good fight after all. Especially as this time everyone had actually gotten up in the air. He flew back in, and didn't see Ironsides lying in wait to yell at anyone. Climbing out of his Fresa, he saw several ships that were barely held together at all. The pilots all seemed ok though. He was relieved, though the mechanics were panicking. His Fresa was fine, as always. His shield had even held up this time. "I swear I saw an odd ship, one that didn't show up on my radar or nothing. I tried to shoot at it, but then it was gone! It moved faster than even the Krell did! Have the Krell made some sort of new weapon or something?" a pilot was whispering to another, as they walked out of the hangar. "What was that, Storm? What did you see?" Storm turned around. "Oh hey, Steel. I saw some sort of ship flying around in that battle. It made maneuvers that were way more than any Grav-caps would be able to handle. It didn't much look like our tech, or much like the Krell either. It was really odd." "Hm, I'll have to keep an eye out for it next time. We'll have to assess whether it's hostile or not." Steel mused. "Anyway, I'm hungry, and everyone survived, so lets get some grub. It'll be on me." The various pilots seemed particularly thrilled about Steel paying for their food, and there was a general rush to the cafeteria. Doomslug was making some progress in her journey when she got picked up. How rude. She fluted at whoever had picked her up. The person shook her about a bit, but of course Doomslug stuck to their hand. Stupid person. Then the person decided to try and stuff Doomslug in a gun. What in the world??? Doomslug fluted angrily in protest. She didn't fit in the tiny tube. Thankfully the individual recognized that, and took her out. And then performed the ultimate insult, and stuck one of their fingers inside one of her flutes. Doomslug promptly disconnected herself from the person's hand, fluted a rude noise, and scooted away from that horrible person. What she was looking for, that person DEFINITELY didn't have. ____________ No one was shot down! PMs are closed, and the lynch is open. Remember to submit any repair actions you wish to make, and to submit your ship requests. This turn will be 48 hours because of my birthday/friends tomorrow. So it'll end at 8:00PM EDT, 5/31/19. Good luck.
  18. And the turn is over. Day should be up shortly, and PMs will follow thereafter.
  19. There are 3.5 hours left to submit actions. Get them in, or face the wrath of Ironsides.
  20. Now that, is one giant PAFO.
  21. Indeed it does. Otherwise the Turrets wouldn't be able to one shot Krell. Also, I may have messed up the votes again. I am the worst at counting votes. I was thorough this time and I STILL messed up. It doesn't change anything, but it's still annoying.
  22. Once the traitor's SK win condition is activated, the only way to kill them is by shooting down M-Bot.
  23. They are informed of their capability of being the Traitor, and how activating M-Bot works at the beginning of the game.
  24. Night 2- Bathing the World in its Light Steel looked out of a window in the side of Alta base. They weren't letting anybody go home now, everything was on lockdown until the rebels were swept out. He was awaiting the results of an intense debate on who to court martial. Ironsides had attempted to press charges against CadCom, Inbred, and Striker, but no one really suspected Inbred and Striker of being rebels, and CadCom had a sudden medical emergency and had been rushed off to the hospital. He had been replaced by a reserve pilot, Preciousss. Steel had flown with Preciousss a couple times before, and they were pretty reliable. In the distance, he saw pinpricks in the sky. Krell. Already? Normally they waited longer between assaults. He squinted, and thought he could make out 10 ships. He sighed, and rushed into the room where the pilots were all arguing with each other. "The Krell are coming!" he shouted. As if on cue, the alarms started going off. "Fine," groaned Bad Wolf. "Let's just kick Stick out and be done with this. Let's go fight some Krell." Steel barely stopped to watch Stick being dragged off, although she protested she wasn't a traitor. Steel of course didn't have time to dwell on this, as he sprinted to the hangar. Thankfully this time, there wasn't a fight over who got to be in what ship. People usually chose what was familiar, after choosing fairly randomly the first time around. Steel hoisted himself into his Fresa without the need of a ladder, as he was quite tall. Good old bird had served him well for many years. He fired up the acclivity ring, ran a few checks to make sure they had fixed his shield from last time, and got into the air before even his squadron leader had gotten off the ground. He looped easily out of the hangar doors, pulling off a maneuver that without an acclivity ring would be entirely impossible. Hopefully, this time they could wipe out the 10 fighters that were approaching. He grinned as he powered up his light-lance for a pass at the lead Krell ship. Man, he was going to miss this. What a rush. Doomslug was unable to find what she was looking for. Where was it? Where could it be? Should she ever have left in the first place? Doomslug fluted, hoping that perhaps a friend would know where it was. Instead, Doomslug was nearly terrified out of her wits by an unusual ship zipping by overhead. Doomslug had never seen anything like it before. She wondered if perhaps it had what she was looking for. Her journey could not end until she found it. _______________ Lumgol(1) StrikerEZ (1) Walin (1) Stick (5): Sart, Ark, Mailliw, Drake, Elandera Fura (1): Young Bard Bard (3): Stick, Lumgol, Darkness Sart (2): Striker, Fura Stick was lynched. They were a Pilot. M-Bot has risen. M-Bot has 10 health and the ability to take 2 actions of any kind each night. PMs are open. There is no lifebuster. The krell forces include 1B, 1E, 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, and 2E, which are at 5 health, and 1C, 1D, and 1F which are at 4 health. 3 health for all of them is comprised of their shields. PMs will be out shortly.
