  1. Yup. All too easy.
  2. Oh, and just by saying that highprince's name, you have lowered yourself to a position of shame. You are now on the level of the highprince himself, which is is saying something, considering yourself.
  3. Granted. However, your vision has been altered so that now you see everything in a negative monochrome. I wish for luck at school.
  4. Well, back on the topic of memes, which this thread was originally designed for:
  5. i just looked up fancy synonyms for burp, and that word turned up. Thanks. I've experienced the Dark Alley's cookies in cases before and investigated them, but I still wasn't sure what their motives were. Oregoners... I had no idea at all. All I knew was that it was being made fun of. So thanks for explaining.
  6. One more thing...
  7. Spoilered for size (possibly) and for Mistborn spoilers.
  8. Actually, when I first made this, I hadn't considered the quadrants or tried to clearly define the abilities. Hence my stating of how flawed this is. I understand that it's a very highly systematized magic, but I'm not good enough (or not dedicated enough) to make my additions truly accurate. I actually have made up a few alloys of my own, but they're completely fantasy and ones no one would have heard of, since I made them up for a fantasy book series of my own. I decided to make platinum inert because on Scadrial, silver is inert and I never really understood why, so I thought I'd just do the same for some other metal related to silver. No real reasoning behind the platinum thing. And if you want to use artistic ability as a Feruchemical attribute for your own fanon Metallic Arts, I'm totally okay with you doing that. Have at it and have fun.
  9. So this is just a silly little thing I've come up with: If other real-world metals like lead, nickel, or mercury granted one Metalborn powers, then what would they be? Here are my additions to Mistborn's Ars Arcanum. Please don't take this seriously, it's just a whimsical Mistborn fantasy of mine. So I won't be including Hemalurgic powers in this list, but I will be listing Allomantic powers (AP) and Feruchemical powers (FP). Lead AP: Pulls on Nearby Sources of Wood FP: Stores Physical Flexibility Magnetite AP: Pushes on Nearby Sources of Wood FP: Stores Creativity Mercury AP: Enhances Allomantic Pulses FP: Stores Body Fat Gallium AP: Erases Allomantic Pulses FP: Stores Emotion Nickel AP: Loops (Reverses) Emotions FP: Stores Musical Ability Cobalt AP: Slates (Erases) Emotions FP: Stores Artistic Ability Platinum Inert Trellium AP: Unknown FP: Stores Any Feruchemical Attribute (theory) I understand this is flawed in many ways, but I thought I'd try it anyway. What do you all think?
  10. Um, aren't you currently the one doing the Nightwatcher's job right now? Does that mean you can just grant your own wishes and banes? Ah, whatever. Moving on. Because you ascended briefly to the Nightwatcher's position, you are granted both wishes. You do not receive the same bane as King Taravangian, and you receive the gift of foreknowledge. Unfortunately, now the entire universe has turned against you and everything you can see in the future is something bad that will happen to you, your loved ones, and the world around you. I wish to know the full story of the mysterious Trell.
  11. Okay, I have a confession to make: There was never meant to be a right or wrong answer; I never meant it to be either Prof or Marsh. This was just my humorous way of pointing out the vast similarities between the two characters. And now, thanks to all of you pointing out the minor discrepancies I wrote that made my post seem to go in favor of Prof, I can rectify what I wrote to make it seem more even and unbiased. Thank you all for your help. Muahahahaha.
  12. I may not be the first to mention this, but I have somewhat of a theory concerning a certain Dysian Aimian character we meet in Edgedancer. This almost feels stupid to mention, because of how obvious it feels, but I'll say it anyway: I believe that Arclo, the Sleepless Dysian Aimian who Lift met, is the one who is speaking on the back covers of The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance. This is evidenced by the reader of the covers making indirect references to the main characters of the series, i.e. "The Liar" (Shallan), "The Surgeon" (Kaladin), "The Highprince" (Dalinar), and "The Assassin" (Szeth). He refers to them as the "four who we watch". Arclo says something very similar to that to Lift when talking to her about being a Radiant. Also, the back cover of The Way of Kings begins with the words "I long for the days before the Last Desolation". To me, that sounds like the tone of a person who was alive before the Last Desolation and has happy memories of it. In Edgedancer, Arclo talks to Lift about having known and befriended ancient Knights Radiant, as well as refers to the time before the Last Desolation of being wonderful, honorable days. Arclo speaks the words and speaks with even the same tone as the reader of the back covers, leading me to believe that the ancient Sleepless who goes by Arclo is the one speaking the back covers of the Stormlight Archive. What do you all think?
  13. So I am going to describe a specific character from a Sanderson series, and I want you to tell me who it is! Simple! First off, this character is a main character in a trilogy of books who is somewhat of a protagonist and an antagonist. At the start of the trilogy, he is an important member of a discreet rebellion against a tyrannical regime. The character is a gruff, hardened, middle-aged man who possesses superhuman abilities. Those abilities remain unknown until the end of the first book in the trilogy, where he is revealed to have them in an epic, deus-ex-machina-kind of way (after the readers assume he is dead.) This character struggles with control of himself and his identity in the second book in the trilogy, because an evil outside force is trying to take control of him. At the end of that second book, the evil force takes control of him and he becomes a villain character. In the third book, he is one of the main antagonists, though he appears somewhat infrequently. At the end of that third book, he is loosed from the evil control that has warped his mind and actions and performs an act of self-redemption. By the time the trilogy is over, he is still alive and his fate remains unknown. He kills many people throughout the trilogy of books. He is known for dressing in black (for the most part). He plays somewhat of a mentor role to the primary main character of the series in some way or another. He also has a cool nickname that is a compound word. So the big question is...... am I talking about Prof from the Reckoners series or Marsh from the Mistborn series? Hee hee hee hee hee...
  14. I'd say I'm kind of like Lightsong in one particular sense. In all of Sanderson's books, I never found a character I could relate to who enjoyed being a pessimist and frequently put themselves down in comical ways... until I found Lightsong. I found that guy to be quite relatable in that sense, as I am kind of a cheery-toned, self-hating pessimist who puts myself down and tries to do it in humorous ways as to not be too depressing. So I'd say I'm like Lightsong in that particular sense. In terms of acting, I would compare myself to Wayne. But maybe that's just wishful thinking... In terms of book loving, I relate to Elend Venture. I may not be as extreme as him, but I'm somewhat of an avid reader. When it comes to acting like a character (as in playing the part of a character in a big-screen adaptation of a Sanderson book), I'd be best suited to playing the ardent Kabsal if I ever got the opportunity to do so. I can't choose a specific character I'm most like, though. Thanks for bringing up that question, it's made me think about myself and my connections to book characters more deeply!
  15. Granted. You taste the Horneater lager, but instead of melting right through your insides as it would normally burn through things, the lager becomes trapped within your stomach, leaving you to feel of your insides burning and melting for the rest of your life without being able to do anything about it. I wish for the stick to become fire.
  16. (That's right, I did forget my wish. My apologies.) Granted. You have more chocolate muffins and Oreos, but your mouth has been subsequently erased to keep you from being able to eat them, forcing you to do something else with them. I wish to casually meet Brandon Sanderson in person.
  17. If I could give this another upvote, I could, because this is storming awesome. Unfortunately, I've reached my limit for today.
  18. I thought Hoid's real name might be Topaz, but I can't trust my memory all that much. Hasn't he gone by the name of Topaz before, and might it be his real name?
  19. It's not that I'm not cosmere-aware, it's just that I've never heard of the name "cosmerenauts" before now.
  20. So this is just something up for speculation and possible theorizing: Do any of you think we'll get another major Letter written among the epigraphs of Oathbringer as we had with The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance? And if so, who do you think will be the one writing the Letter and what do you think it will be about? Just wondering what y'all think of it.
  21. So you say "Sanderfan"? Hmm. I've never really thought of that word. I've always preferred the word "Fanderson".
  22. Hello and welcome, Gavin-son-son-Odegard, to the 17th Shard fansite! I, as well as you, am a big Cosmere fanboy as well as a relatively new member of this site. It's always good to have new members who are fans of a fandom that is relatively little-well-known across the world. There's always another member... My top favorite Cosmere series is the Mistborn Saga, with the Stormlight Archive in second place! So as a fellow Mistborn and Stormlight fanboy to you, I hope we'll get along well enough! Have an upvote and... well, I suppose you've already gotten enough imaginary cookies. Have a free Horneater stew.
  23. Oh my... I was just about to write my own theory on the "Scar" pattern of stars in the cosmere, and then I read this and... and it makes so much sense! I'm not much of a cosmere expert, but I think that the idea of Yolen being one of the planets in the Scar and their redness being caused by the Shattering sound kind of logical! Different from my original theory, but still pretty good! Can anyone else come up with a more logical, educated response to this new theory than me, please? This needs looking into.
  24. The Nightwatcher mercifully retracts your original wish after deep consideration, and gives you the best thing you could wish for -- eternal happiness. Unfortunately, you have no one to share that eternal happiness with, leaving you unable to experience true joy in the company of others, despite being so happy.
  25. You have broken the laws of the Nightwatcher's way of working, and have thus created a paradox in which nothing is gained or lost and you receive neither a boon or a bane, which is too bad, because that was a good wish. I wish for motivation to stop procrastinating.
