  1. He mentioned it completely in passing, no idea how T came to this information:
  2. I feel like the book was trying to set up an "oh no, Kaladin is angry and he's going to become Odium's champion" moment, but that's ridiculous. Maybe it was making the point that Rayse was deluded enough to think he could tempt Kaladin into becoming his champion?
  3. It can't be unintentional that Kaladin is completely without (non-Syl) relationship prospects 4 books into this series. Nor can it be a coincidence that the childlike and carefree nature of Syl has been corrupted by Kaladin's sadbrains and knowledge/dwelling on the inevitability of death/loss.
  4. It's an Elantran isn't it? The same as the bald "Shin" fortune teller the gang encountered in Shadesmar back in Oathbringer.
  5. My read from that line is that the Shin trained to use the Honorblades primarily to better guard the Honorblades. They recognized the danger of the weapons and also possibly the impending madness of the Heralds. What they aimed to prevent is exactly what Ishar has now done.
  6. Some of the best scenes we've had so far are Dalinar and T debating their ruling philosophies at one another and hoping to convince the other that they're correct. I think the future is whatever allows these debates to continue for eternity. The shardbearing Odd Couple.
  7. I think the order of events you have it is off. The imminent death of Tanavast was the driving events of the whole Recreance, indeed the capture of BAM may have been a move of desperation caused by Honor's imminent death. The best confirmation of this is the logs in the Gemstone Archive https://coppermind.net/wiki/Urithiru_gem_archive they give us a snapshot in time when the tower was being abandoned. At this moment the Tower's functions have already begun to fail, yet the capture of BAM is still in the planning stage. Honor's progressive death caused the loss of his "pure tone" which the Sibling needed to combine with Lifelight to make its Towerlight. Without a supply of Towerlight, the Sibling needed to progressively scale back Urithiru functions, causing the Radiants to abandon the tower and setting in motion the capture of BAM and abandonment of Radiants oaths.
  8. The other possibility behind our very rude Radiant burning WarLight is that Odium and Honor's powers have blended or there is a higher level of cooperation between the two. I know we've already done the shard mashup in Mistborn, but the phrasing of this line by Cultivation to Todd really caught my eye
  9. I think that comparison isn't apples to apples. Rayse:Odium :: Jezrien:Honorblade The mind guiding a power is always going to be less substantial than the power itself.
  10. Good catch, unfortunately I think Nightblood sucked all the good stuff out of that body.
  11. I should have been clearer, I wasn't referring to Shallan's self-defense towards her parents, but to her murdering Ialai Sadeas when she had surrendered to custody.
  12. Killers of Whimsy We thought nothing could unite the peoples and Gods of Roshar. The discovery and immediate shared loathing of the Shard of Whimsy proves us all wrong.
  13. The second time Shallan meets Mraize, the scene opens with him using the blowgun to paralyze a cremling. Obviously foreshadowing the existance of Sleepless, but might also be foreshadowing his own nature. Also, might be a coincidence, but in Lift's chapter: This shortly before Lyft encounters Mraize. Could certainly be a coincidence, but also could be the book jogging your memory about the Sleepless at an important moment.
  14. The character of Shallan is the worst part of Shallan chapters. The mystery of her backstory: fascinating. The intrigue with the Ghostbloods: great! Pattern: Awesome Character, always want more of him! Adolin: wonderful character when allowed to do things other than tell Shallan how perfect and beautiful she is.
  15. great theory! The Siah Aimians are the blue bodymodding humanoids though, you probably mean to say Dysian/Sleepless Aimians
  16. Squires kind of implies interning for a full Radiant position, but I believe Jasnah's spren is the sole Inkspren that is bonding at the moment. What's more Ivory seems very reticent about interacting with any humans other than Jasnah.
  17. By this point I think Shallan has gone non-responsive multiple times when he's tried to correct her about past details. He's probably trying a new tactic here.
  18. Regarding Kaladin's golden glow: Odium likes to portray himself as a golden being in a golden realm, but his core essence and light color are violet. I wonder if gold color might be a more generic indicator of divinity in general, or perhaps even a fusion of Honor and Odium's powers. The one time we saw Tanavast (during Dalinar's vision at the end of tWoK) he was wearing clothing made of gold. Also the gloryspren (which seem closely tied to Honor and Bondsmiths) are gold in color. Thus I think Kaladin having that glow is a sign that he's tapped into the Rhythm of War. Indeed Navani is surprised shortly thereafter to hear the Rhythm of War inside the Tower, and identifies it as coming from the humans and some singers working together to protect the unconscious Radiants after being inspired by Kaladin's display. e: Nohadon also wore gold robes and had gold threads in his hair!
  19. I'm impressed he managed to perpetuate the worst stereotype of MPD/DID: that murder I committed didn't count because it was one of my other personalities that did it.
  20. That entire battle was a pawn of Nale (Helaran) fighting a pawn of Kelek (Amaram). Oh those nutty Heralds.
  21. If he can Connect Kaladin to his dead brother’s spirit it sounds possible that he could do the same for the deadeyes and their lost Radiants.
  22. Definitely a Skybreaker. Possibly a human one, as Rosharans are extremely tall compared to humans on other planets. He seems to be burning Warlight (Stormlight+Voidlight) based on the blue-violet glow. I think this points to a future of internal peace on Roshar, with Odium focusing his ire offplanet and some Radiants like the Skybreakers choosing to continue to work with Odium. I don't think it's direct war between Scadrial and Roshar. Just expansionist factions from each butting heads around the cosmere.
  23. Yep, I think the other Cryptics realized Shallan had wrapped herself so tightly in lies that it would be very unlikely she'd advance to the next level of truths on her own though.
  24. I'm not sure why Testament originally chose her, but I think Pattern and the theoretical post-Pattern Cryptics are hoping to revive Testament. The wording of the response here seems important: Implying that there may well be a way to save a deadeye spren if the Radiant they were bonded to is still alive. Presumably by the Radiant swearing oaths of a higher level than before. So the Cryptics plan to just keep throwing themselves at Shallan until she hits that highest oath
  25. I largely agree, but there's a confounding variable here. Right around the same time BAM was captured, Honor was dying (as shown by the gradual failing of Urithiru noted in the gemstone archive around the same time they were planning the capture of BAM.) Both of those events could result in dangerous changes to the functioning of spiritual bonds and because they happened so close to one another it's difficult to pry apart which event caused which specific failures.
