Call it Oathbringer, Call it aSummary of Sorrows. Call it a peculiar Chicken, Call it anything, but get it to us faster!!! And have a nice day.

Hoid is a particularly difficult being to kill, and the feat would be beyond most people we have met according to the books. He is not afraid of swords or shardblades, or the 17th Shard, or most anyone, including some shards. I think an effort to be killed by Rosharan nobility would be the very long way to be deadened...But a Wit can stay next to people and say what he wants without fear of mortal reprisal. In short, it is the best way to stay near Rosharan nobility WITHOUT being killed.

Tut, Tut! Once again, remember that for this thread only, there are no responses. Despite what we know, think, or can divine, this is a correction free thread. Thank you for your cooperation. Cheers. -
Absolutely. I think the Oathpact was a key part in the binding of Odium. I just don't know what it was.
-
I think he is some type of spren, (obviously not a Rosharan type). He said he started life as just an idea on a page; although he might have been referring to his names, as the next quotes referred to Cephandrius, and another for a Stone he wore. But I think that a status as a spren that gained cognizance, developed a soul either through connection or enough experience (or maybe even a borrowed spiritual web (since "what he does heals the soul")), and has enough investiture to interface with the Physical realm, like a bonded spren does makes more sence. This came to mind when he said that the shard blades would not likely hurt him, he does not think that the 17th Shard would know what to do with him if they caught him, and he cannot really hurt others physically, but he can make them think they are hurt. All leads to a non-physical start in my opinion.

I believe that Honor Splintered himself, or weakened himself deliberately to bind Odium and keep him from splintering Cultivation. Honor would do this in a heartbeat.
-
Honor paid when Honor is due always brings on the water works for me. Best I saw in real life was the wife of a disabled captain, being harassed by peace activists in DC as she was walking to the Whitehouse to receive her husbands Bronze Star and Cong. Med of Honor. She said nothing even when pushed to the ground. Then she was surrounded by other women, (we don't know who they were) who told the protesters that she was a nice woman doing them no harm and to leave her alone. They asked if she would like an escort and the 6 women surrounded her and walked through the protest. When they asked where she was going, and she told them, they hugged her and the lady walked the rest of the way alone to the White House. Dalinar's scene, paying for the bridgemen, placing his sword in the burned glyphs of Justice, could not have been written better. Same feelings; same tears.

You will learn about Hemelurgy in the Mistborn series, (only 6 so far!). As you guessed, Sharders is the quick name for us here, but Free Sharders will not allow others to control them, their computers, their schedules, or their place is the signing lines. Remember, no metal in your body! Good Luck!

Since they are fabrials, and need to be infused with Stormlight, and because a radiant needs to be using a live sprensword, I think it is only possible if spren can exist on other worlds. The rest is easy, but we don't know yet if a spren can travel with their human to another world. Just not enough data. Does someone know of a WoB about spren travelling to other worlds? I haven't read one.

Oh, the sad future of the Ardentia! The trusting Ardents who follow the tennets of Vorinism are about to learn that the highest in their order, (the Soulcasters), know good and well that Jasnah is right, and that their own intercourse with the Cognitive Realm is tepid at best. The reemergence of soulcasting by the Knights Radiant hits at the very foundation of their beliefs and undermines the revision of history undertaken by their masters before them. Thus, many are asked to fight against the new KR, and an internal war of religion vs. Radiants begins. Good, honest Ardents are torn, and as was shown in a previous interlude, revolution from within starts anew concerning the excesses of the church, the obvious doctrinal errors (lies), and we don't know where Ardents will ally themselves. Soulcasters (the people) are found to be not just mutated, but become savants, with residual powers and soul damage. Their Ancient devices are soon replicated by Kolin fabrial engineers, and all out war is declared. Vorin people are called to fight against the Kholin-led Radiants, while lack of rulers elsewhere (thanks Szeth!) create new kingdoms and new allies. Taravangian himself sides with the Vorin Ardent faction "to preserve what we know is right and Holy". Knights Radiant are called Voidbringers, just to muddle things worse, but honest Ardents, and those revolting against the order, join the Radiant faction and work to proselyte for unity with the Radiants. A real mess! -
Brothers will do amazing things, in patience for their siblings. Is made my eyes sweat a little to. I hate doing that in Shardplate!

You have been warned!!! Just a bit of ominous greeting there. The cookies have some very interesting side effects, you will learn about them with hemelurgy. Men of HONOR do not collect ripped apart pieces of other mens' souls. It's just not done. Lose the cookies and join the Free Sharders. ENTIRE COSMERE OPTIONED FOR MOVIES
1stBondsmith replied to PallonianFire's topic in General Brandon Discussion
For myself, I know that writing can be very time consuming with a very small payback at first. I think movies will drive a whole new group of readers. The readers will get some of the best fantasy writing ever, so the genre will increase. In the end, a really good guy hits it big, gets filthy rich, and continues to wear weird t-shirts and sports jackets. My only worry about the movies is; definitely time away from the books, (which might not be finished till I am dead now), and whether the same drive and impetus behind the stories will keep him as the most productive and detailed writer of my lifetime. I love his work ethic and his professionalism. That may suffer when Hollywood gets involved. They have ruined more than one good person. Best of Luck to Brandon! It could not have happened to a better guy! -

Perpendicularities, the residual of a Shard travelling between Realms, will soon no longer be just the place where Worldhoppers traverse, but ,with the use of Urithiru's Oathgates, an unexpected influx of other-world travelers will occur. This will be both covert and by request of the travellers, and will form the basis of the entry of Roshar into the Cognitive expanse. Perpendicularities from the Horneater Peaks, to Cultivations pool, to the Selish pool and several others will not just be categoried by Chriss, but a full list given to Dalinar and Co. This ends up crossing purposes with several shards, who, angered by the now blatant commerce between worlds, work to close the perpendicularities, as was done on Yolen. This forces the space travel of the 4th Mistborn era, where Hoid has lept just prior to Roshar's forced closure. He accomplishes this though his relations with the Knights Radiant, and the use of Elsecalling (which is the last known way on or off the planets). -
Salutations I Bienvenidos. We love all fans that read much, think well, and are willing to sacrifice to encourage Brandon to write more. We look forward to hearing from you. Have a free upvote for a welcome.

The "Strictness" of Rosharan shards
1stBondsmith replied to CosmereQuestioner's topic in Cosmere Discussion
To cultivate is not to strew seeds and see what pops up. It is to guide, nurture and develop something specific and intentional. Honor follows sctrictures and guidelines, thus adhering to a code of integrity. Is it any wonder that the magic systems of these two combined would take time to develop, master and exercise all the powers of? I think that would be expected. -
Military reference- Ringing the bell signifies the admission of failure or giving up a goal. it is a common expression among military types. See, special forces training- ringing the bell.

Tut, tut! A slight breach of protocol noted above. Were it not for the last sentence, I would have assumed this strayed into the "Response" category. For the integrity of the openness of the thread, please make no comments regarding other posts, even if you leave them unnamed. However, I just noticed that this was your first post, and not wanting to appear less than neighborly, Have an upvote! Also, Have a nice cookie. I hear they are well spiked Spiced. Thank you. -

The Purelake, with its magical fish, amazing geography and Very interesting obsidian tower, will be very important. Its history and the reason for its strangeness hides a secret that effects worldhopping, and the Cosmere-wide "Big Stage" mentioned in the Secret History. The obsidian tower has ties to the Cognitive Realm, and the flowing of water before the Highstorm uncovers amazing places, but due to the storm, no one is there to see it. Our fisherman friend learns some of this and when he learns to trust a stranger, shares the knowledge. -

The Shin, lead by the Stone Shamans, must now face the truth of the Radiants' return. This leads all the Shin to question the dogma taught to them. As they discover the powers the Radiants will possess, including the ability to heal the spiritual wounds of shardblades, the collaps of their religion ensues. Their religion has beliefs that the Honorblades alone could grant these powers, and that all the rest were fabrications created by the Historians or Ardents to promote Vorinism. Revolts in Shin lead to a diaspora where Stones once thought hallowed are trodden underfoot regularly, and Truthless now are widely known. Shinovar looses its protection from the Highstorms and most life there is wiped out. Zeth's sad "I told you so", is heard by no one else. -

Another... Hoid, working against Oduim's purpose, gets caught by the shards on Roshar, He had eluded them well in the past, but made the mistake of working too long with and caring about the people on Roshar too much, thus increasing his Connection and bringing him to Cultivation and Odium's attention. Far from being insignificant to them, Hoid is forced to fight or flee, and the second wins out; at great cost to Roshar. His flute must be found, before he goes, and at least one last story with Kaladin will happen. On his way out, Hoid throws a final useful tool to Dalinar, (and because he has perfect pitch), it is received and used to great advantage in the conflict. -
Well met, my bold Friends! This thread is going to be very different from others we have seen. I ask that you abide the rules of the thread to make it more enjoyable for all. The thread topic is: THEORIZED PLOT TWISTS FOR FUTURE COSMERE STORIES Specifically, Share your ideas about the upcoming plot twists for the yet to be published books or beyond. Here is the goal and hope of this thread: 1. To have a place to share ideas or hopes for characters that are not going to be shot down by fellow readers, so that we all can get a new perspective. After several rereads, we tend to get very opinionated. 2. Using our collective brilliance, and the fact that we know Peter and Brandon peruse our musings on occasion, try to outguess planned changes to plots, OR drive new ideas to unwritten works, OR be able to smugly sit back and say "I predicted that on this date...", all of which bring amusement to the reader. It may also give us a larger number of RAFOs, but may raise Team Sanderson's opinion of our "Over Analyzing" his work. 3. Give us some deeper fun before the release of Stormlight 3, like rabid sports fans making fantasy leagues and betting playoff scores before the season starts. 4. Induce some of the more brilliant Sharders, past and present, to rejoin the discussion, and make us more cosmere-aware, without the fear of having to defend their ideas. This leads us to... THE RULES FOR THIS THREAD 1. All submittals should contain a plot prediction, or idea that involves the stories that are now cannon. 2. There will be NO reply to each others ideas in any form other than the upvote. Since they are all future predictions, any reply, retort, or rejoinder is not appropriate and should not be included. We want new, unproven ideas, without scaring off submitters who are afraid they do not remember details well enough, be called wrong by too many other people, or seem unpopular. We want a brainstorm as much as we fear the Everstorm! Because this could be interpreted poorly, even positive feedback needs to be restricted here. Use the upvote if you like the idea, like some part of it, or feel happy today. If it is close to your idea, you can say, "My idea is like so-and-so's, but with this twist" to save writing. 3. You can state why you think it will happen based on book quotes, Words of Brandon or other sources, but should not use them to respond to someone else's entry. 4. We are literature fans here, so we expect well thought out, clever, amusing or otherwise enlightened entries. Please use your best skills to share your ideas about the future books. If you have just a funny thought, make it witty when delivered. Remember, you only get to share the idea once, with no rejoinder or explanation, so edit well, then publish. 5. Any future plot or twist is fair game. It does not have to be in a planned book, or a plot ending for what we have read. It can be big like the Cosmere, or small like Vivinna has a baby boy. Just make it relevant, inciteful and entertaining, and having to do with the Cosmere worlds. And with that, I will start the thread with a submission of my own: In the SA, the end of the Second Arc will be the final driving of Odium from the greater Roshar System, but his defeat will come at the cost of several magic system elements, many lives, and the end of Kholin rule. The last Kholin standing will be the Champion mentioned, and with the help of Radiant orders on many fronts, will draw to a complete end the Oathpact, the mission and lives of the Heralds, and the destiny of the sword Nightblood. In Brandon's effort to avoid the Avengers-like megawar, nearly all the world-hoppers we know will have left Roshar to avoid its final demise. Two of the World-hoppers will not make it off, and one will die (Vasher) and one will witness the end, (likely Kriss or Nazh). The second Arc will also see the release of all spirits in Silence's world, who will also take part in the Final battle for what will ironically be no longer Tranquiline Halls. Finally, Honor will remain shattered, and Cultivation will be unrestricted, bringing life to a world now devoid of Highstorms, and seeking solace for her missing love. Also, Taravangian dies at the end of the first arc, but the Diagram organization drives blindly forward, a continuous thorn in the Radiants' progress. Please, add your Genius below!

Methinks you jump a length too for @Lord Tavash Shar. I do not think that all the species on Roshar are a mix of Human and Listener. Horneaters likely are, Herdazians have the stone nails...unlike anyone else. The two Amian types appear to have abilities neither have (even if you count the Forms of the listeners) because they rearrange their skin at precise will, not a difficult form or spren activates change. There are many other answers for their types, ranging all over from off-world like Kandra related, to in world Old Magic, to some other mixes. I don't think this is a spectrum thing, but many different things existing together. This is Brandon writing after all, and thus, with 10,000 more pages to go, we will learn about a great many races. I do not see a need to make them all a mix of the only two we have details about in the first two books.

Nope. Won't happen. There is to much to do in the upcoming fight. I think maybe in or after book 5, but not before.

Additionally, anthracite is hard to burn and burns a very small cloud of smoke and a high temp flame, with almost no light. Hard to keep going in a campfire. I am pretty sure this is a limelight lamp. Limelight (also known as Drummond light or calcium light) is a type of stage lighting once used in theaters and music halls. An intense illumination is created when an oxyhydrogen flame is directed at a cylinder of quicklime (calcium oxide), which can be heated to 4,662 °F (2,572 °C) before melting. The light is produced by a combination of incandescence and candoluminescence. Although it has long since been replaced by electric lighting, the term has nonetheless survived, as someone in the public eye is still said to be “in the limelight.” The actual lights are called limes, a term which has been transferred to electrical equivalents. From Wikipedia. "Fits the Bill" (theater pun) exactly!
